Well, if I may throw my hat into the ring, X&Y, as we now know, suffered from too many cooks coming in to spoil the broth. I think it could've been so much more and how some of their b-sides didn't make it onto albums when others did is just beyond me. Still, I like to think of X&Y as a natural progression - if they had turned out AROBTTH Part 2 then we would have complained "but why aren't they doing something different - not the same again!" And we have to remember - Coldplay are still a young band when you compare them to the greats: The Beatles, The Who, Pink Floyd and, for quite a lot though I personally don't agree, U2. There's "Difficult Second Album Syndrome" and "Difficult Third Album Syndrome" and "Difficult Fourth Album Syndrome" but upon hitting Number 5 its clear sailing! I expect LP5 - "DEATH TO THE KING!" (Bono, that is:D) to rock the world to its core! So, to wrap up, X&Y I like and view it as part of the larger, growing tapestry that comprises the band we all love - Coldplay.
