Holy crap this is hilarious. I feel like someone who has just walked in on a private conversation lol. Well, I'll leave you to it. But, Briggins, do you keep on changing the little gender thingy or are there two of you????!!
  9. Hah, I had noticed that the little blue sign changed to pink one day not too long ago! Miss your old avatar that was the close-up of the chick's...ahem...chest from the cover of VLV:lol: EDIT: Btw, I hope you achieve your goal of a thousand posts very soon. If it makes you happy, go for it!!
  10. There is no known studio recording of Ladder to the Sun, sorry mate. The difference between How You See the World 1 and 2 is a variation in the lyrics: HOW YOU SEE THE WORLD #1 Are you missing something Looking for something Tired of everything Searching and struggling Are you worried about it Do you wanna talk about it? Oh, you're gonna get it right some time There’s so much to be scared of And not much to make sense of Are you running in a circle? You can't be too careful And you can't relate it Cos it's complicated Oh, you're gonna get it right some time You're gonna get it right some time It's how you see the world How many times can you see You can't believe what you learn It's how you see the world Don't you worry yourself Your not gonna get help Is there something missing There's nobody listening Are you scared but you don't moan Don't wanna end up on your own You need conversation And information Gonna get it right sometimes You just wanna get it right sometimes HOW YOU SEE THE WORLD #2 They put the world in a tin can Black market, contraband And it hurt just a little bit When they sliced and packaged it In a long black trench coat Two hands around the throat Oh you wanna get it right sometimes There's so much to be scared of And not much to make sense of How did the clowns ever get control? Ah, if you hear can you let me know How can they invade it When it's so complicated? Oh you wanna get it right sometimes You just wanna get it right sometimes That's how you see the world How many times can you say You can't believe what you learned That's how you see the world Don't you worry yourself You're not gonna give up And there's something missing Seems like there's nobody listening If you're running in a circle How can you be too careful? We don't wanna be man trapped We don't wanna be shrink wrapped Oh we just wanna get it right sometimes We just wanna get it right sometimes That's how you see the world How many times have you heard But you can't believe a word That's how you see the world Ah, don't you worry yourself Cause nobody can hurt you That's how you see the world Yeah, that's how you see the world Well there you have it. Hope that helps man

I'm not crazy bout having to use U2 analogies but I believe VLVODAAHF will be their The Unforgettable Fire, which I think is Chris' favourite U2 album - A Sort of Homecoming is definitely one of his favourite songs. Both albums are the fourth in their respective careers and both albums contain exactly ten tracks (hidden ones we ain't countin). LP4 will turn heads. "Oh wow, is that Coldplay? Y'know I hadn't really liked em before but this is really good!" It will convert many! Violet Hill and Viva La Vida are already doing that. LP5 will be the one to put Coldplay on top. Then LP6 will suck. Joking!:P
  12. X&Y is a great progression of the work they did in AROBTTH and Parachutes I think. BUT I definitely would have had a different track listing. Something like this: 1. Square One 2. How You See The World 3. White Shadows 4. Fix You 5. Talk 6. X & Y 7. Speed Of Sound 8. The World Turned Upside Down 9. Gravity 10. Low 11. The Hardest Part 12. Things I Don't Understand 13. Swallowed In The Sea 14. 'Til Kingdom Come I would have put A Message on but I think 'Til Kingdom Come is the better song and between it and Gravity I think A Message would have been overkill. Sleeping Sun was a song I hated when I first heard but have since come to really like it in a kinda funky way - its a very different Coldplay song I think. I somehow can't ever imagine them having played it live. Certainly the setlist for X&Y era concerts struck too much of a "Greatest Hits" compilation rather than changing, diverse and flexible arragements of their songs, b-sides and new tracks etc. What If? is good to listen to a few times but then becomes leaden I think. Its so slow moving at the start that I think it broke the frantic pace set by Square One and negatively coloured people's opinions of the record. Proof is a lovely little song but really more a b-side than album worthy. The b-sides I did put on I did so cause they are really really great in my opinion and SHOULD have made it. Also, since they did the whole thing of having the first few tracks X1, X2, etc and then the later ones Y1 etc its interesting to see the difference between How You See The World and The World Turned Upside Down as they both seem to have big ideas and big themes. Other songs that they performed during the AROBTTH tour, like Moses, Ladder to the Sun, etc would be interesting contenders but since no studio recordings are available to us (or that I know of) I left them off. Anyone have any preferred combinations?
  13. No!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not this thread tooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

Yeah theres a lot of stuff here that makes sense man, specially with regard to just how long U2 have been on the go compared to Coldplay and that that muddies the water with any comparison - my dad remembers when he was in college back in the late 1970s going to see U2 playing in a place called Dandelion Market opposite Saint Stephen's Green for just a dollar or two adjusted for inflation. Those were the days... ...but I'm afraid to say that the basketball analogy goes waaaaaayyy over my head! Tried to get into basketball about 9 years ago, thought I was brilliant at it then discovered something very important out - I sucked lol. And it was at that moment that Coldplay descended from the heavens with The Blue Room and I was spared:)
  15. OMG!!!!!! This kinda thing being said on these forums is TOTALLY out of the blue:laugh3::laugh3::laugh3:
  16. That's very interesting. Though honestly its almost like a big mash-up of characters from the Bible to effectively tell a story, not just one i.e. Jesus I think. Still its always interesting when you can read so deeply into any artists songs as so many of them are vapid or along this line: "I'm a rock star - fans piss me off - the groupies are good - drugs even better - man I hate life - I love my money" and that's usually all in the first verse;)
  17. I voted for Parachutes cos its so short and had the makings of a potentially more interesting song - but...nothing. I really really like High Speed as well! Why is it leading in the least fav category?? We Never Change has got some great lyrics, its one of those campfire songs I enjoy Coldplay releasing. Also, who voted Don't Panic, Shiver, Spies, Yellow or Everything's Not Lost as their least favourite??? They're gems. Trouble too. Now THESE are things I don't undertstand:lol:
  18. There are many who will dissapointed if this turns out to be all that they meant. I for one will be relieved!!

Please oh please oh please oh please oh please oh please oh please oh please
  20. Hmm...yes, I'm sure...:sneaky: I think VH is just like one night Chris was watching CNN/FOX/ABC/BBC News or whatever, saw lots of images of people dying and pain and suffering, leapt up, roared "F*CK IT!!" ran to the piano and belted it out. The lyrics are both oblique and angry. He's telling it like it is!!
  21. Whoa whoa whoa let's not get ahead of ourselves here!! The Crystal Method - wow dude, you sure are setting expectations high for Coldplay's LP5!
  22. Oh my God I haven't seen Gwyneth the last few days...you don't think...do you?????????
  23. Yeah I swore to lay off all VLV-related material a few days ago. Y'know I discovered something: it didn't work!
  24. Go for it man, hope you get in!
