  1. I'm a good old-fashioned Irish Roman Catholic (Stephen Colbert is my personal guru) and they didn't teach us that at Sunday school cos of: 1) We don't have Sunday school & 2) No religion teacher wanted to hear those three letters strung together in that order We learned everything we needed to in Health Ed - God bless that poor teacher's soul...:smug:
  2. Don't worry Briggins, if that's the case, He has already wept bucketloads over me!:dozey:
  3. Cool thread. I would like it if Coldplay would pander more to their respective audiences, ie if they are playing in Texas, play some local song(s) in a cool acoustic bit really really close to the audience, kinda like what they did 05/06 but just with a bit more magic. Kinda like a three-act play: Act 1: Big openers, bombast etc Act 2: Intimate, acoustic, crack jokes with the audience, bring some onstage to sign, anything you want! Make the biggest stadiums seem intimate - and not just Til Kingdom Come, Don't Panic, Ring of Fire played to death, but do acoustic versions of other hits and just throw a few curveballs at the audience every now and then Act 3: Big finish 90minutes++ Let Jonny, Guy or Will - hell, each individually - get to crack a few jokes with the audience and sign wayyyy louder on backing vocals or even take centre stage on different verses - mix it up so its different almost every night. Don't end every concert with Fix You - Gravity is awesome - or the brilliant idea to use the massively underrated Twisted Logic. Great idea lad! I think the band are so tired of X&Y because they had practically played the thing to death. They must've played every song (except for Twisted Logic - did they ever play this live, even though the tour was named after it?) off the album a billion times and are just sick to death of em. In short, I think they overplayed them and now face the consequences of that. The songs, which when they were intially being played were magical, now are too familiar to audiences and we just want something very different. Certainly, Coldplay really need to shake up their setlists. As mentioned before, play b-sides, rarities and for God's sake more stuff from Parachutes! Okay, rant OVER.:)
  4. OOOOOoooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhh so it isn't Lovers In Japan? Man, I'm behind the times. Maybe Reign Of Love? Or a b-side? Who knows? Hell, for all we know it could actually be 42! But I don't want to commit to any polls yet until the entire album is out - legal or otherwise!
  5. The best title for this thread would have been... "SHOCKER - COLDPLAY SING 'VIOLET HILL' WHILST ON LSD" Just me though...
  6. Okay okay we're all in this together and its all super tough but I'm helping pass the time by parcelling out my listening of live shows and going back to old b-sides etc I haven't listened to in ages. It is helping - somewhat. But the songs I most want to hear are Prospekt's March, Famous Old Painters and Cemeteries Of London - even though only the latter is on the album. Maybe its cos I know the album is coming out for definite but the b-sides...its more up in the air? Who knows? Any fully-fledged psychologists around? Help!!
  7. Isn't the lock oh-so-adorable? Man, it seems sooooo happy. But to answer the first question - I don't really know what you're talking bout dude. I just had to comment on the fact that I don't think I've ever seen anyone wanting a thread locked after only the first post! Things have been getting increasingly weird round these parts - and I say that as a total newbie so feel free to hurl your rotten vegetables at your monitor. Just two things: 1) Who keeps rotten vegetables? 2) You will have to clean the mess up. Faith. N. Beggorra.
  8. Hmm. Now that you mention it, I do notice a certain similarity, even if the guys were trying to do their Song 2 - think they tried to throw us off the scent of which song they were really copying?:D But, lyrically, Lost!/Lost? share a lot in common with In My Place (lines to cross, and being lost in general:)) and I freaking love that song, love that album, and have massively high expectations for 12th of June - NOTHING CAN GO WRONG.
  9. I hope something happens soon. But definitely b-sides, I'd like some of them now please:) Personally (I think) I can wait (somehow) for June 12th - I mean, if we get it all before then, I'd break down and listen to it, but wouldn't some of the nervous fun and excitement be lost? Yes? No? What do you mean, no??!;) Here's to Flotsam & Jetsam, August 2008. You read it here first!
  10. Hey hey, the wisdom of Dirty Harry - I like!:) But, when it comes to Lovers In Japan, we've only heard a (very) rough version and we have to see how it and Reign Of Love gel together. Viva La Vida is beautiful, Life In Technicolor just brings a smile to the face of anyone I know who's listened to it, Violet Hill has converted many to Coldplay and is just so forceful and really like its about the end of all things and A Spell A Rebel Yell really grows on you after a couple of listens - but you do need a good rip so you can hear Chris properly. And let's remember, Coldplay have bottled that incredible way in which, when you first listen to an album, you like some songs, dislike others - but wait a year and those songs you disliked initially will be very close to your heart. With the exception of A Whisper, there's not a single Coldplay song that I've haven't really enjoyed at some stage. Like right now, I'm back in love with Parachutes - the album is 8 years old, but man are the melodies and everything else just spectacular. With Coldplay - as with any great band - every time you listen to their songs you see something new, it gets a different reaction, whatever - it's just awesome. And that's why I love them - and probably everyone else here too. My two cents.:) EDIT: Since no one has replied now in over a day, I'll assume everyone agrees with me and Coldplay's all-round genius. I'm cool with that:D
  11. Thanks dude but we already know! This was mentioned a while ago - *fingers crossed* that we get to hear them before June 12th:) The idea of the double album seems to be getting dimmer now that we have official reviews and Death And All His Friends is definitely on the album - but "Flotsam & Jetsam" with all the b-sides etc might be forthcoming!
  12. Well. Yes. Who has the key?
  13. Ever since coldplayer34 with those f**king stupid threads - I mean they were about as funny as an outbreak of herpes at an army barracks and twice as deadly - this site's been dragged waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay down. Down down. I cry for thee. Next thing you know, we'll be discussing the Eurovision. May God have mercy on our souls... EDIT: Maybe a little too harsh - - on second thought, no, I've wasted time reading this and, now, wasted time replying (why do I do this to myself?) to these ramblings.;)
  14. NME may give it a good review on Wednesday then come back the following week and say it wasn't so good after all! Those guys change their minds all the time (or at least every week);)
  15. I'm content to wait until the album BUT that's only for the album's actual tracklist. I want, very desperately, to hear Poppy Fields, Glass of Water, Famous Old Painters et al - - - give us B-Sides already!!:)
  16. We know who you are. We know where you live. We're coming to get you...after I've recovered from this year's Eurovision. (Shivers violently) ;)
  17. Thank God Jonny got to do a little talking at the end! He is totally under-rated which is a pity - hopefully one day he'll be as well-known as the Edge.:) Thanks for posting this!!
  18. Of course...I can mind-read....;)
  19. May 21st...a date which will live on in infamy...
  20. ;) Hmm. Well I believe I can speak for the human race when I say...yippee.;)
  21. Me three. Man, I was psyched about today. I thought we were gonna get 42 or Cemteries of London - hell, Famous Old Painters or Glass of Water - - something to tide us over! But, so far, NOTHING! Aaargh. Once again, I'm brought low by the hype machine. Every damn time...
  22. Wow - shocker! ;)
  23. JPB replied to JDFSX1's topic in Coldplay
At long last! This has to be a good sign. And what better time to release the DVD? EMI prob need every little thing to try and give them a bit of a boost these days...
  24. Ah cheers! Thanks for reinforcing that stereotype:stunned: But, in all seriousness, I find it grand to go for one with friends or whatever but I'm well well well away from what you could call a binge drinker. I know people who can down 13+ easy on a night out but I think it robs it of its fun when you're trying to prevent them from falling onto the road and under a taxi. But that's my opinion. I know an increasing amount of both lads and girls who don't drink or are cutting waaaay down and I have great respect for them because, as any Brits or other Paddys know, in our society, that's pretty tough. And on a side note, the price of it is just going up and up in this country - just like everything else. But, slightly off topic, gotta love those spoof Prospekt letters:)
