I am studying to be a meteorologist and hopefully I'll work for the national weather service one day... I don't believe that an area of high pressure could make the sky intensify in color, I have never really noticed that the sky is any more blue after a snowstorm really. It could be the fact that snow storms tend to last longer than regular rain or thunder showers, which makes you used to seeing a dull gray and white sky for an extended period of time, then all of the sudden high pressure dominates and brings in clear skies. You think that it has intensified because you aren't used to it. I am not really sure, I'll try to bring the subject up in class!
