Stephenie Meyer - Twilight Series (may contain spoilers)
lol I like both of the 'boys'. It's the girl I'm not too fond of. But for fandom's sake, Bella should be with Edward, and prevent a fandom riot. I don't want Jacob with her anyways lol I'm sorry, guys, just not a Bella fan; she's too weak for me. And now I will try to avoid this thread until probably Sunday when I finish the book. You guys getting it at midnight or early Saturday have a head start on me :)

I NEED BOOKS SUGGESTIONS!
Tim O' Brien. Another one that I didn't mind having to read during high school and one of my favorites :)
-
Step Brothers
I think Will Ferrell is funny, but sorry, I think I'm gonna wait until this comes out on DVD. I'd go watch Pineapple Express instead. But since that doesn't come out til Wednesday, go see The Dark Knight :)

I NEED BOOKS SUGGESTIONS!
I believe it's actually The Stranger by Albert Camus. This is still on my books-to-read list...which keeps on growing lol

I NEED BOOKS SUGGESTIONS!
I definitely suggest The Kite Runner also. Some others are: - A Prayer for Owen Meany - John Irving I actually didn't mind having to read this in high school. I loved it. "In the summer of 1953, two eleven-year-old boys -— best friends -— are playing in a Little League baseball game in Gravesend, New Hampshire. One of the boys hits a foul ball that kills the other boy’s mother. The boy who hits the ball doesn’t believe in accidents; Owen Meany believes he is God’s instrument. What happens to Owen, after that 1953 foul ball, is extraordinary and terrifying." "Owen Meany is a dwarfish boy with a strange voice who accidentally kills his best friend's mom with a baseball and believes--accurately--that he is an instrument of God, to be redeemed by martyrdom." - Fahrenheit 451 - Ray Bradbury " In Fahrenheit 451, Ray Bradbury's classic, frightening vision of the future, firemen don't put out fires--they start them in order to burn books. Bradbury's vividly painted society holds up the appearance of happiness as the highest goal--a place where trivial information is good, and knowledge and ideas are bad. Fire Captain Beatty explains it this way, "Give the people contests they win by remembering the words to more popular songs.... Don't give them slippery stuff like philosophy or sociology to tie things up with. That way lies melancholy." Guy Montag is a book-burning fireman undergoing a crisis of faith. His wife spends all day with her television "family," imploring Montag to work harder so that they can afford a fourth TV wall. Their dull, empty life sharply contrasts with that of his next-door neighbor Clarisse, a young girl thrilled by the ideas in books, and more interested in what she can see in the world around her than in the mindless chatter of the tube. When Clarisse disappears mysteriously, Montag is moved to make some changes, and starts hiding books in his home. Eventually, his wife turns him in, and he must answer the call to burn his secret cache of books. After fleeing to avoid arrest, Montag winds up joining an outlaw band of scholars who keep the contents of books in their heads, waiting for the time society will once again need the wisdom of literature." - The Alchemist - Paulo Coelho "Brazilian storyteller Paulo Coelho introduces Santiago, an Andalucian shepherd boy who one night dreams of a distant treasure in the Egyptian pyramids. And so he's off: leaving Spain to literally follow his dream. Along the way he meets many spiritual messengers, who come in unassuming forms such as a camel driver and a well-read Englishman. In one of the Englishman's books, Santiago first learns about the alchemists--men who believed that if a metal were heated for many years, it would free itself of all its individual properties, and what was left would be the "Soul of the World." Of course he does eventually meet an alchemist, and the ensuing student-teacher relationship clarifies much of the boy's misguided agenda, while also emboldening him to stay true to his dreams. "My heart is afraid that it will have to suffer," the boy confides to the alchemist one night as they look up at a moonless night. "Tell your heart that the fear of suffering is worse than the suffering itself," the alchemist replies. "And that no heart has ever suffered when it goes in search of its dreams, because every second of the search is a second's encounter with God and with eternity.""

The newsletter said that Lisa will only be doing Jason's shows until Nashville. I've never seen Damien nor Lisa so I'm really hoping I can go to the show in NYC.

Jason Mraz
Hey, out of curiousity, whatever happened between him and Tristan Prettyman? I don't really keep up with his blogs much and when I finally checked his website a few months ago he was single. 2732, he just came out with a new album (We Sing, We Dance, We Steal Things) It actually came out a couple weeks before Viva La Vida so it was on repeat in my car pretty much before VLV took over lol "Love For A Child" is one of my faves in the album. I also love Please Don't Tell Her... well, basically, I love all the songs lol check out his previous albums :) yay me - you're so lucky to live in CA and get to see him more!

Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince Film Thread
Finally!!! That looked awesome. Voldy was already quite eerie as a little kid. Can't wait for the movie to come out! I'm totally forgetting HBP right now; can anyone tell me what the scenes of Ginny in the middle of grass and Ron unconscious on the floor are from in the book?

The Dark Knight
Well I understand about the voice having to be different from Bruce's real one, it makes sense why he has to. I was just saying how more pronounced it was to me this time around because that reviewer pointed it out. I didn't even remember whether his voice was like that in BB because I wasn't paying attention to it.

Jason Mraz
Jason just released his US fall tour dates and Lisa Hannigan is his opening act! You Damien Rice fans should know who she is :)
-
2009 Tour Dates - Gossip - Speculation - News
If they do a 2nd leg US tour, I hope they go to Philly again because it seems like that had the best crowd so far and I so want to be part of it! And also, NYC :) Would love to go to MSG for a concert finally!
-
? about the latest concerts
I don't understand why people would even bother buying a ticket to the concert and then not enjoy themselves. They're just wasting their time and a true fan's opportunity to buy a ticket bc the non-fans bought it.
-
what song is stuck in your head now
Rihanna - Disturbia "bum bum de bum bum bum de bum bum"

Jason Mraz
Oh thanks for bumping this! I love Jason Mraz! He's really great to see performing live! Saw him back in 2005 in nyc and just an amazing performer! His opening act that night was Raul Midon, who is also awesome in his own right :)

Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince Film Thread
Only a little bit I think. As long as he looks kinda like his uncle Ralph Fiennes, who is Voldemort, it's all good :) Though I'm wondering why they didn't use Christian Coulson again to be teenager Voldy?

Whoa for a minute there I thought it was Gandalf during the Balrog scene. Yay! So happy we got some new pictures! And the trailer should be out in a few hours :)

cuil.com
http://www.cuil.com Anyone try out the new search engine boasting to be better than Google? I like the look of it and how it displays the results in a magazine-like way. I also like the tabs that further breaks down your search to specific results. Like if you type in banana. There are tabs for Banana Republic, banana bread, banana boat etc. It just makes things neat and clean and no need to search through numerous pages of results. Opinions?
