  1. Typical. :laugh3:
  2. Yay! Well I was Gabon, which wasn't too great, and it was my first conference, so I was pretty nervous. Our first topic was the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, which was weird for me since I'm Jewish but had to argue against Israel! Anyway, my friend and I ended up being the primary sponsors for the only passing resolution on the topic, which was incredibly exciting for my first conference! We ended up beating this other resolution that was written by a group of really well-trained competitive kids, and my Model UN only meets once a week and we're not competitive at all, so it felt like an underdog victory. It was amazing to get it passed, especially since we took such a risky view (ours was the very anti-Israel view)! It took over 12 hours of debate to get it passed :stunned: And now, a key for those who don't know Model UN: In Model UN, everyone represents a country, and you debate conflicts from the view of that country. The goal is to pass resolutions, which are these fancy documents that outline your plan for the topic- you can look here and try to find an example of the format, it's really weird. Sponsors of resolutions write, propose, introduce, present, and argue for them. It's pretty intense and involves a lot of debate and public speaking
  3. Yes, it went really well! If you don't mind a bit of UN-talk, I'll tell you all about it :P
  4. It's okay, she'll be back! How are you?? I have to tell you guys about my Model UN conference :)

  12. HI EVERYONE! I miss you guys so much that I've snuck onto coldplaying with my iPod and am painstakingly typing this message out :P I come home tomorrow night so I'll elaborate then, but I am enjoying the conference a lot  *can't stand typing on iPod any more* you'll have to update me on all the coldplay news when I come back!
  13. Psst, guys, if I'm not still on after the site crash, I'll talk to you all on Sunday! (I'll probably still be on, though, I have a lot of work left :\) edit: well if you're going now, Marisa- talk to you Sunday! I'll miss you :(
  14. When we were learning about Lewis and Clark in history class my teacher was saying how Lewis was all crazy neurotic and never thought he was good enough, and Clark always calmed him down. And I actually said in class, "AHH, like Chris and Jonny!" and everyone thought I was insane
  15. okay guys, how about this: LIT- yellow COL- dark purple Lost- light green 42- yellow and dark blue LIJ- orange/gold/red Yes- red/gold VLV- red, just red :P VH- white/navy blue SS- turquoise/light blue/violet DAAHF- light purple/pink I think that could look cool!
  16. Hmm, what about a blue/purple and white for Violet Hill? I feel like it needs to be something jarring with the rest of the colors, and white would definitely work... (Sorry for all of the weird art discussion guys :P) edit: Wait, I've decided on navy blue and white now, I think!
  17. Oooh, I haven't really thought about Violet Hill! I think it has to be two colors... Hmm. Blue and orange? No, not orange...
  18. Yeah, I've been thinking of 42 as like.. one darker color and one super bright one. And Yes has to be a warm color something. I don't know, I've noticed that I associate a lot of the songs on VLV with warm colors like red or orange. I wonder what that says about the album? The end of Strawberry Swing is my favorite part of the whole album! It's even my ringtone :wacky:
  19. Yeah, I thought red too! Strawberry Swing is going to be light blue & light purple, LIT is yellow, LIJ is definitely oranges/reds, COL dark purple, Lost is green... I'm still thinking about the rest
  20. A little better, I just found this, http://ucblibraries.colorado.edu/govpubs/for/gabon.htm#Diplomacy, which is really helpful  Guys, quick, name the first color that comes to mind when you first hear Viva la Vida. Dont' think about it, just the first one that pops into your head.
  21. Which project, Marisa? I have several :P edit: oops, sorry, the quote is acting weird  I was responding to your question asking how my project was going ;)
  22. Seriously! I just printed it out, and it's only 3 pages long! Imagine trying to fit all of the info about the US or something into 3 pages. :stunned:
  23. I think Gabon must win the prize for the country with the shortest Wikipedia page :P
