  1. Hey, I thought that was me! :P  But I can't really beat Makayla's (fucking awesome) jacket, so I guess I'll have to surrender to her :disappointed: ;) Oh, and random Coldplay thought which I've already posted somewhere else: I was watching Countdown on MSNBC and they showed a video/photo montage of the inauguration.... set to Viva la Vida! I actually fell out of my chair when I heard it in my haste to record it on the DVR :P Second random thought: Obama said "fair play" in his inaugural speech, and I immediately thought of the Jonathan Ross interview where he nicknames Chris "Fairplay"!
  2. ^ Awesome sig :) I have a poster like that, actually! And nope, no gown talk here (although her gown was beautiful)!
  3. I figured you were being serious, but you can never tell over the internet ;) Anyway, thanks a lot- I understand that politics is always a touchy subject (believe me, I've lived in DC my whole life), but I'd like just one peaceful thread!
  4. ^ Even if that was sarcastic, I appreciate the gesture.
  5. And what was unbelievable? Get the fuck out of here.
  6. Can you please just leave? Anyone calling people "morons" and "fucking idiots" is not welcome on this thread. And I'm really sick of all of you people thinking that we're naive or that we worship him. There's a difference between hope and naivety. I know that he's not going to magically change everything, nor is he some sort of mythical person. But I agree with his policies and I think that he will make a great president. I don't know what it looks like from outside the US, but we're all being very realistic about the whole situation, and so is Obama. Don't criticize what you don't know- you don't see me criticizing Gordon Brown. I'm daring to be slightly optimistic for the first time in 8 years, so shoot me. EDIT: For god's sake, MrNick, do you just go from thread to thread?! All of you get out of here, this is not the "discuss Obama" thread, it's a "share pictures" thread. And for the last time, no one is worshiping him.
  7. His first executive orders today were so exciting! They were all about "transparency and responsibility in the government"- hallelujah! It's just so beautiful to be free of Bush after these past 8 years... It's like a breath of fresh air :wacky: There were 10 official balls which President Obama & Michelle attended, and there were countless unofficial ones. I didn't try to get tickets to any since I knew that the inauguration itself would be exhausting (and it was).
  8. Yeah, and Chris obviously chose a shitty jeweler who's taking 6-ish months to finish the resizing! Men... :P
  9. ^ Very true. Besides, I just think they've both lost a lot of weight and need to get their rings resized! :P
  10. Because, as I stated in the first post and my post to you, I don't want yet another thread about Obama becoming negative when people are just trying to celebrate. Coming here and posting an obviously opposing view is bound to piss people off, and I'd appreciate it if you could take it somewhere else. This is a thread for pictures and stories, not any political views that you might have. Go start a new thread if you need a soapbox. And can I call you a complete asshole if I feel you are being one? Just checking...
  11. I know I'm a bit late on this, but don't you guys think they'd do something as public as removing rings only after a divorce was announced? I mean, if it really meant something, wouldn't they wait to do it until after a statement? I don't know... *shrug*
  12. Okay, well go say it elsewhere. Bye! And don't call me a moron.
  13. ^ Again, I don't want people being negative on this thread... Go to the "Obama's inauguration, anyone?" thread if you want to start an argument, thanks! :)
  14. ^ Wow, I'm impressed that he survived! :P Apparently it was like mass chaos over there since they blocked people out. One of the people who stayed in my house had a blue ticket but wasn't allowed in :(
  15. Well we were so cold after the swearing-in that we decided to sit out on the parade. We walked to a restaurant and watched most of it there :nice:
  16. ^ I wore like 8 layers and still froze! I'm still recovering, actually, I just made myself a nice cup of hot chocolate in my Coldplay mug  Yeah, if I ever felt disappointed that we didn't have a perfect view, I'd just look up at those screens and see the millions of people behind me... If my friend hadn't managed to get me a ticket, I would've been one of those people, so I was just so grateful!
  17. ^ At the blue gate, or just at the inauguration in general?
  18. I don't know anyone who didn't get emotional, Sarah, if that makes you feel better! I'm not sure if you guys can read this without an account, but this article is so sad- I can't imagine what I would've done if they'd turned me away :bigcry:
  19. ^Thanks! And yeah, it was (and still is) pretty surreal... (to strawberryfields- nice username, by the way!) *shrug* Some people (like my Chemistry teacher) definitely feel that way, but it wasn't just about seeing it for me- I wanted the whole experience! I never would've been able to live with myself if I hadn't gone :P And it wasn't 10 degrees... It was more like 20 with a windchill in the teens ;) :laugh3:
  20. I posted on the other thread that when he finished the oath and they said "congratulations Mr. President", I burst out sobbing and couldn't stop. It was the most amazing thing I'd ever seen, and then I was crying all through the speech too! Everyone was crying and hugging each other, it was just incredible. Now I'm getting sappy! I met a lot of great people too. We were all stuck in line for 2-4 hours together, so we all became friends :P One of the best parts for me was meeting 2 elderly African-American women on the Metro home... They'd come from Philadelphia, and they were telling me about all of their civil rights experiences. :) Apparently I was really lucky, because they had to turn away about 5000 people with tickets! Isn't that terrible?! I had to wait in line for 3 hours, but at least I got through eventually! :\ EDIT: Hey hey, look at the title! No arguing! ;)
  21. Oh, I have pictures from the concert too, here, but I haven't had the chance to upload all of them yet :\ Sarah, you wouldn't be as jealous if you saw the lines and felt how cold it was! :P I was out from 6AM to 2PM, and it never even hit 30 degrees :stunned:
  22. ^I created a new thread for anyone who wants to post pics, and I've posted a link to mine there :nice: http://www.coldplaying.com/forum/showthread.php?p=2764454 EDIT: directed 2 posts up
  23. This is purely a thread for people to share their pictures and stories, there are two other threads in which you can argue about the topic of Obama. Thanks! Anyway, I thought I'd post my pictures for those who wanted to see them (Marisa this is for you!), and if any other Coldplayers went, they can post here too! I'd love to hear what it was like down on the Mall, since I was up on the Capitol. My pictures are here, although they're not very exciting... I had tickets in front, but to the far right so the risers blocked our view of the podium :bigcry:
  24. *gives up on this thread and resolves to create a new one when photos are uploaded*
  25. Oh, they're only just beginning  I'm creating a flickr album as we speak!
