  1. *gasp" How dare they put the Jonas Brothers and Coldplay in the same sentence?! :P Coldplay, JoBros, Lil Wayne Up for Grammy Glory Coldplay, the Jonas Brothers and Lil Wayne go together like, well, Grammy nominees, of course. The acts all scored top nominations tonight for the 51st Annual Grammy Awards. Coldplay and Lil Wayne notched Album of the Year nods for Viva La Vida and Tha Carter III, respectively. Ne-Yo (Year of the Gentleman) and fun-music couple Alison Krauss and Robert Plant (Raising Sand) also were nominated. Radiohead rounded out the category with a nod for In Rainbows, thus potentially causing Grammy-scoring headaches for people who think Radiohead is Coldplay or vice versa. Lil Wayne led all artists with eight nominations. Coldplay scored seven. And not that Kanye West pays attention to such things, but he did well to pick up six, as did Ne-Yo and Jay-Z. The Jonas Brothers made their mark in the Best New Artist category. Joe, Nick and Kevin Jonas will vie for the honor against U.K. singer-songwriters Adele and Duffy, Philadelphia-born R&B star Jazmine Sullivan, and the country group Lady Antebellum. In the Record of the Year category, Leona Lewis' "Bleeding Love" will take on Coldplay's "Viva La Vida," Adele's "Chasing Pavements," M.I.A.'s "Paper Planes" and Plant and Krauss' "Please Read the Letter." Adele's and Coldplay's signature hits from the past year are also up for Song of the Year, a prize for songwriters. Also nominated there: West's "American Boy," Jason Mraz's "I'm Yours" and Sara Bareilles' "Love Song." Nominations were announced during a first-ever "nominations concert" held in Los Angeles and aired live in some times zones on CBS. The 51st Annual Grammy Awards are set for Feb. 8. http://www.eonline.com/uberblog/b71617_coldplay_jobros_lil_wayne_up_grammy.html
  2. ODE TO DEODORANT ODE TO DEODORANT! ...Well, it would be a nice "look how far we've come" moment :laugh3: I'm sure the Grammy people will want them to play Viva la Vida. I wish that they could do an EP song at one of these award shows, that would be awesome
  3. :laugh3: I don't know, there's still the "ooohh" part! I vote for Postcards from Far Away :P
  4. Ack! Not Viva la Vida, that just doesn't translate well over TV / at award shows... But I'm sure that they'd play it anyway, it's the big hit after all. I wish they'd do Violet Hill, though, I feel like that would go over better :\
  5. Oh, I'm already picturing it shaping into a night of joy and horror :P Wins for Coldplay, but an iffy performance and embarrassing acceptance speeches... :uhoh: Eh, I guess that's why we love them!
  6. coldplay.com says it's the 11th... 11/02/09: Tokyo - Japan
  7. If they beat Radiohead in any category, you just know Chris will give an incredibly embarrassing acceptance speech about how Radiohead is better, etc... So for his sake, I almost hope Radiohead beats them... ALMOST :P So.... Who thinks they'll perform? I kinda hope they don't, award show performances always turn out so badly for them :uhoh:
  8. I just have to say: WTF?! Why was Death Cab nominated for their worst song/album ever? I really did love them until their new album...
  9. My guess is that they'll win Song of the Year and Best Pop Performance at least, maybe Record of the Year too... I don't feel too confident about the ones where they're up against Radiohead :\
  10. Phew, post updated :) There's no way they can lose 7 times, that'd be ridiculous... I have hope! :D
  11. Why do they have that list up if they want people to watch the nomination concert extravaganza? But whatever... HOLY SHIT SO MANY NOMINATIONS :stunned: Am I reading this right?!
  12. VLV better dominate, no one can deny the incredible-ness of that song :P
  13. *shrug* that's a submission thread, so I figured nomination stuff should go in a nomination thread :P
  14. Here guys: http://www.coldplaying.com/forum/showthread.php?t=52448

  16. *goes to create thread*
  17. Should we start another thread for this? We don't want the good news to get lost in the submission thread!
  18. Oh, then I hope Jonas Brothers DO win :P Good riddance! How long is this concert thing? It's going to be a lonnnnng night... EDIT: YAYYYYYYYYYYYY! One nomination down!!!!!
  19. *still muttering angrily* Why is the entire world Disney's bitch? I don't get it. I hope Duffy wins! I thought she was good when she opened at my concert...
  20. WHAT THE HELL?! Jonas Brothers are nominated for a GRAMMY? If the Jonas Brothers win a Grammy and Coldplay don't, like what happened at the AMAs, I will lose all faith in humanity.
  21. Glass of Water... Played really loudly :D
