  1. http://cnn.com/video/?/video/us/2010/01/19/natpkg.dc.haiti.aid.cnn I'm famous! :cheesy: my dad and I are all over that video
  2. well, I'm starting to tutor my Latin student this week... plus today I suddenly decided to start & lead a fundraiser for Haiti at my school.
  3. how come whenever I have a chance to relax, I decide to take on a million new projects and work way too hard? :wreck:
  4. the entire 3rd quarter in my English class last year was that mega-epic transcendentalism project, remember Marisa? that's when I made my Coldplay paintings :nice: PS- ow ow ow ow I'm so sore from lifting boxes
  5. *shoots you* I'll show you a picture once I go downstairs and get my camera! I should also show you where I was today, it was amazingggg! at one point I had to climb my way on top of a giant metal storage shelf (we were in a warehouse), and when I looked out at everyone, there were SO MANY people! amazing... and at one point I accidentally wandered into a press conference that I wasn't aware they were having in the corner of the warehouse :P I was like "WHOA! Mayor Fenty! And shit! I'm on TV! Fuck!" Then I met Fenty a little while later, he was a cool dude. yes, Obama rides a motorcycle around DC. :awesome: :P
  6. motorcade, not motorcycle :P but good! :D we were about to turn left at this intersection, and suddenly the police just cut us off and blocked the whole intersection... then 4 helicopters flew over us and I was like "I think it's Obama! shit, we're going to be here for a while." and FINALLY his motorcade came speeding by, and we were right in front so I got good pictures of it :D it's funny cause sometimes stupid people say to me "you live in DC?! Does the PRESIDENT ever drive by you?!?!?!?!?!1111" Now I can say yes! :P although it happened once with Bush too  it's quite the show, there were like 25 cars/vans plus an ambulance and 4 helicopters :stunned:
  7. so tired and sore :wreck: but I did A LOT today! and i was stopped by Obama's motorcade and I met Mayor Fenty :awesome:
  8. it was so embarrassing *shakes head* and some girl ran over to me and she was like "are you okay?!" and I was like "I'm fine, but I think I just fell on my ass on international television"
  9. Hey everyone! I spent all afternoon helping with the donation drive at the Haitian Embassy. It was crowded, wet, and absolutely chaotic but very rewarding! Hundreds of us volunteers packed thousands upon thousands of donations into bags and boxes, and loaded them into U-Hauls to continue their journey to Haiti :nice: I talked to some coordinators, and they're probably going to need help with these donations for a while. They basically told me that if I dropped by anytime, I could help out. So if any of you live in the DC area and have spare time (*COUGH* tomorrow is MLK day, a national holiday, and seeing as it's supposed to be a day of service... *COUGH*), you should see about helping out as well :nice: The address is 2311 Mass Ave NW. Also, these are the donations that they're requesting: Even if you don't live in the DC area, everyone should look into what donation drives are happening near them. Like I said, tomorrow is supposed to be a day of service, so honor that by helping Haiti! If anyone's curious, here are a couple of hasty pictures that I took today at the drive:
  10. not sure if "fun" is the word, but it was definitely rewarding! :) I'm going back all day tomorrow :D it's nice to be able to get there and do something, instead of just reading the news stories :nice: and you missed this cause you're not on twitter, but: I was working behind someone who was being interviewed by CNN, and I tried to lift a very heavy bag and I slipped and fell into a box of diapers... while CNN was filming... and I was in the background... :embarrassed: :vanish:
  11. yeah, but you have no idea what it was like there today! I wish I'd brought a camera or something, I only had my phone's camera :\ it was amazing, there were mountains of donations, and we were all just running around trying to put things in boxes and load them up, and it was just... crazy! here, I'll show you the few pictures I took (there wasn't much time to breathe, let alone take pictures!) :escaping: edit: uh... yeah? :P
  12. ugh, I'm so sore from working at the embassy today, I think I threw out my back and broke my arms lifting boxes, plus the boxes sliced my hands open :uhoh:
  13. Marisa, you're annoying! *points to twitter DMs*
  14. WOW! I volunteered at the Haitian Embassy all afternoon, they were having a supply drive... It was the busiest, most laborious, hectic, wet, cold, everything afternoon, but it was so inspiring! There were tons of people there and SO much stuff  I helped load up boxes and bags and trucks and basically did everything there was to do :nice: I signed up to go back tomorrow :)
  15. I'm off to the Mall! :cheesy: :escaping: *explains to the Canadian* Mall= not  :P
  16. yes, I'm sure it did hurt more and take longer :P but I wasn't expecting this to hurt! they told me that "it would feel like a mosquito bite" aw, you're leaving?
  17. "state your name, rank, and intention." "The Doctor, doctor.... fun..." :wacky:
  18. yeah, kinda  they were... okay, I guess  yeah, I'm very relieved to have an internship because my mom was really freaking me out about it :wreck: but I had to make like EIGHT phone calls to get one, and I had a giant panic attack beforehand :uhoh: yeah, you know, tuberculosis? it's when they inject something under your skin. it hurt like hell and it took a while too!
  19. aw, but my faith in friendships is single-handedly enforced by your stable friendship with Amy! :P um... I don't know how my week was! busy, I guess. I was constantly running around at school, and then I kept coming home late and working til I passed out :wreck: but the weird thing is, I don't remember having all that much work! but I had doctors' appointments every day after school plus sports, so I didn't get to start my homework til late  but I dunno... it was just a weird week :uhoh: but good news! I'm gonna start tutoring a 7th grade Latin 1 student at school :D I'm excited about it, but a little nervous. also, I finally got an internship, I'm working with autistic 2 to 4 year olds, which will be intense but rewarding I think :) and my classes were really interesting this week too  also I had to get a TB test for my internship and it hurt like a bitch! jeez :wreck:
