Most overrated/underrated albums of the year?
:laugh3: Good. It was dead boring, I don't get why everyone's raving about it.

I would have added Oh Fortune to my list too, but it was only out here last week (and therefore past the cut off date) Did it have an earlier release in Canada tho? I hope so, then I can vote for it  Oh and well done having Seeds at the top of yer list

Kim, I left the Apparatjik album off my list for this year, cos the official release is next year and I want to be able to vote for it next year :cheesy: Plus this version probably won't even be the final version so.... it's a tricky one but I don't think it should be eligable for this year... :\

The Coral
If? Yeah, it's bloody gorgeous - massively different to The Coral's music tho, it's mostly instrumental. If you've not heard it, you can stream it from the guardian's website http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/musicblog/2011/nov/07/bill-ryder-jones-if-stream?INTCMP=SRCH And I agree, Nightfreak's not one of their most accessible albums :laugh3: /understatement but it has some cracking little songs on there. Grey Harpoon is probably in my top three of fave songs of theirs :D

Kasabian
New website - http://www.kasabianlive.com/ Love Serge's little messages from each gig :cheesy: Dublin: CAN YOU FEEL IT COMING! CAN YOU FEEL IT COMING! One of the best shows we have ever played. That shit was from another galaxy. After the show, we partied on with the inhaler boys. How do you come down from that? Bowie on full throttle, boom! We love you Dublin. Sergio x. Nottingham That was spiritual two of the greatest shows in the bands history. My ears are still ringing from the east midlands choir. Thank you me duckies. Sergio x. :laugh3:

The Coral
Goodbye's brilliant. I love that song :D
-
Apparatjik
Oh yeah, I see what you mean, it does sound backwards. I love the way the intro starts all simple and relaxed and gradually more blips and noises get added and it gets more electronicy

Apparatjik
Hello Razor Eye - there's an Apparatjik thread already. Lots of us discussing the new album in there, come join us :D btw, I doubt that the structure of the band is this clear-cut ypu know. From the live shows they've done so far, it's evident Martin plays a lot of the guitar on their tracks and Guy's more likely to play drum machine than bass. They tend to mix things up a lot, rather than have each member labelled as playing a certain instrument. One of the attractions of Apparatjik for them is that level of freedom, I expect

The Coral
Woah, didn't know this thread was still alive... thought it had long since disappeared  What have you listened to already Kat? Dreaming of You? In The Morning? Jacqueline? They're the big ones. Butterfly House might be a good place to start; it's the most recent and probably their most solid/consistent album [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8N2YuBKMZ2s]The Coral - Butterfly House [song by song album preview] - YouTube[/ame] Roots and Echoes is lovely too - very 60s sounding - try In The Rain, Cobwebs (one of my faves) and Rebecca You The earlier stuff is a bit more eccentric - stuff like Shadow's Fall, Simon Diamond, Skeleton Key, Bill McCai, Goodbye etc are all brilliant but slightly bonkers. It depends what you'd prefer really - the more mature, laid-back, Byrds-inspired later stuff or the madcap, sea-shanty-inspired early stuff ;) Actually, if you've got Spotify the best place to start is search for the Singles Collection and listen to that or search for it on youtube (or I can upload it for u if you'd rather) :D

ANOTHER FEW HOURS TIL I SEE KASABIAN AGAAAAAAAIIN IN LOVELY LIVERPOOL    Feeling a bit miffed now though that I'm missing Coldplay in Manchester tonight, i wasn't really bothered before but now it's come round, I really wanna see them again :bigcry: if only for old time's sake. Anyway Kasabian'll more than make up it. Can't wait to see these wonderful stage lights that are supposed to react to the crowd noise. And hear more of the new album live. And see how yummy the boys are looking, of course :sneaky:

Apparatjik
I have no idea how to go about remixing anything  wouldn't even know where to start..... I don't want it to sound like shameless plugging but there's been some conversation about remix software on the chick forum, Kim. Ron's the guy with all the ideas, you're best off asking him ;)

Kasabian
^ yay 10 days 'til I see 'em again :wacky: Can't wait. Miles Kane too...Mmmmm double : wacky : Also, I'm thoroughly bloody sick of all the kasabian snobs on tumblr, they're doing my head in - they're all so fuckin superior cos they've seen them, like 40 000 times, have every single seven times over on vinyl and ooh yeah, shock horror they even know the names of all the band members, not just Tom and Serge, oh no they even know the name of the guy that plays trumpet, cos they're proper fans after all... Fuckers. :snobby: Sorry, just needed a little moan about it .... I feel better now :D

^ spoke to soon  I put the new Apparatjik album in my list but then we find out the 'offical' release of the album is now Feb 2012 and the version we've already heard isn't necessarily the final version, so I'm gunna take it out of this year's list and reserve it a place on next year's list... :freak: Bloody Apparatjik, they never make things easy do they? lol ..... need to find something to replace it with now....
