  1. Life In Technicolor II, is the reason why coldplay should win the grammy for 2008 album of the year !!!! Just that song alone, should be the sealing factor !!! I also noticed a lot of ppl here do not really prefer Jay-Z's duet on "Lost!" ... might I say, that was one of Jay-Z's best 16(bar) verses ... But, hey to each is own right ?! LOL
  2. HAHA If only arena's could talk ... ;) I hope you guys keep your savings account loaded ... Sooner or Later you'll get the big picture. :laugh3:
  3. KANYE WEST GLOW IN THE DARK TOUR MSG SHOW PICS AND VIDEO FROM BOTH NIGHTS !!!! I got pics and videos from both nights of the dvd encore shows for G.I.T.D tour (8.5 & 8.6 including the speech and Jay-Z surprise) from both nights, that will SH*T ON ALL OF THESE PICS AND VIDEO FOOTAGE'S LOL. (WATCH THEM IN HIGH QUALITY !!!!) http://www.youtube.com/ernestime http://www.flickr.com/photos/ernestime/ get ready for your life to be changed !!! HAHA
  4. Chris wasn't the "only" black guy at the concert, I was there as well ...
  5. Sorry Chris .. YOU'RE WRONG CAUSE I WAS ANOTHER BLACK GUY IN THERE AS WELL !!! BAD ASSUMPTION MAN !!! LOL.
  6. Most: Death and all of his friends (Oh how I wish he could've ended the song with the same melodic vocals he started with ... that would've completed it IMO.)
  7. Oh okay cool cool, LOL. Excuse the misunderstanding Great Sir.
  8. LOL they need us!!! The good ol' folk from Coldplaying.com! *Shameless plug LOL
  9. I get you ... No its not about sales ... It's about votes I believe by "delegate-like" individuals who are apart of the Grammy Academy in the U.S. Heh, who would've thought Politics and Music, going hand in hand in the U.S. LOL
  10. I asked what you meant because if I can remember ever-so-clearly, I can recall, you downplaying Coldplay's album and saying that Death Cab etc. was kinda better, in your own implication ... but w/e just wanted to make my sarcasm alittle more clearer in that last question that I asked you.
  11. That does make a good debate but, unfortunately we live in a world where competition brings forth success. And besides the Euro Cup or the World Cup series would not be fun if it wasn't a tournament or any awards given ... (get what I mean)
  12. LOL ... and who are "they" ???
  13. The only thing Lil Wayne delivered for Hip-hop was, more criticism from people outside of the genre looking in to scold us [hip-hop culture], hence Noel vs. Jay-Z over Glastonbury. And besides ... why are people trying to make it seem like this thread isn't about a competition, and are now trying to play this down as if it were an immature thing to do ???? !!![discuss maturely about music]
  14. You are right about your analysis because I remember when watching the 2006 Grammy's when U2 won the album of the year award over Kanye West's "Late Registration" (who unarguably deserved it out of the other nominees in that category), with an album that they made 2 years then and, were previously nominated for in the year before ... SMH ... LOL :embarassed:
  15. We are talking about the Grammy's 2009 Awards show and who will get the award for "Album of the Year" Quantity doesn't give it quality ... Just because something is memorable, it doesn't make it amazing unless it indeed is AMAZING ... Anticipation and all the promotional "hoop-lah" doesn't mean crap if it didn't deliver and possibly evoke emotions !!! I also have to kind of disagree with your statement about Coldplay's album. I'm sorry I understand the good lord's saying "To each, is Own" but dang, I have Death Cab's newest album and, I do agree that it definitely served great productions and incredible vocals ... you can't deny Coldplay's newest work ... There has not been anything of this artistic magnitude since Pink Floyd's transition from Dark Side Of the Moon, to "The Wall" ...
  16. Whoever said Lil Wayne might be a contender for "Album of the Year" is also obviously someone who has no familiarity for the [Grammy] academy's nomination process. It only got "Good Reviews" from hip hop critic's from the South (Who also think that Soulja Boy is the best rapper out right now ... catch my drift?! LOL) There is a big big difference from getting nominated for "Best Rap Album of the Year" and "Album of the Year" ... Numbers do not suggest any facts when it comes to the Grammy's ... Hence the reason why we all were mainly shocked the Herbie Hancock was awarded the Album of the Year. but damn its going to be a tough one between U2 & Coldplay ... I really hope Coldplay gets it at the moment ... But I guess I will have final judgment as soon as their [u2] newest LP drops ...
  17. HAH I gotcha now ... LOL Yea, I guess a change wouldn't be so bad then huh ??? ... LOL
  18. YES !!! thanks for checking my photo blogout !!! AWESOME LOL.
  19. I don't think the timescale is too small at all being that Kanye's tour started in Spring ... April to be exact so considering that maybe they [Chris or whoever] could've been influenced after seeing a show or two in either LA or NYC .. who knows ... But I honestly doubt that the set designer is the key because Kanye has blogged about his tour and the people he has used for his set and for lighting and effects, he used the same engineers who program Daft Punk's lighting for his show. Also my thread title is like that because "Controversy always sparks interest" ;)
  20. You really couldn't have said it any better, LOL, I knew that there wasn't going to be tickets only for fans after I saw a full family of ... FOUR, dressed in all white, going into the box section by where I was ... I just thought it was supremely funny that the news articles spoke of the Celeb's who came and, I just kept saying to myself [sarcastically] "I wonder if they won tickets from the online raffle?!" ... LOL That was almost one of the best free shows I ever got to be apart of ... But I am definitely not hating, because I cant wait till they announce their return to the Garden later this year!!!! ... Oops, did I just say that ... Me and my big mouth ;)
  21. LOL, good suggestion (with the set designer) but IDK ... LOL And thanks for the compliments I have alot more of those pics [Coldplay MSG] Just let me know if u would like to see them.
  22. VIVA LA VIDA ALBUM REVIEW (DATED 6/16/08) *Dated 6/16/08 " The ability to evoke emotions such as, triumph, and pain, throughout a song, is a difficult process. Since their formation in 1996 and, their first release in the Fall of 2000, Coldplay, has solidified their stature in the music mantra that is, Rock music (Alternative for those technical geeks). They have become a household name among all races, demographics, and, all countries all over the world with only 3 albums under their belt. 3 years after the successful release of their critically acclaimed third LP "X&Y", the British boys have come back with their musical version of the Latin phrase "Carpe Diem" (seize the day). "Viva La Vida Or Death and all of his Friends" (Viva La Vida for short), is the foundation of the bands new roots in the genre of music they have relative in producing. "Viva La Viva" (meaning "Live The Life"), tells the story that couldn't have been expressed without a heavy guitar, convicting piano, a humble set of percussion instruments, and a very artistically driven album cover (I mean, look at that LOL). Within listening to the whole album (45:53 in length), you can notice the change occurring in your mind and your "ear- buds", due to the "new found niche", you will call "Coldplay". The album begins with a triumphant ode to rock-electronica, "Life in Technicolor". With a very futuristic sound, it seems the group may have made an instrumental answer to U2's "City of Blinding Lights". A very great way to set the mood for an epic story that begins in track 2. "Cemeteries of London" set's Chris Martin's voice in a narrative tone, telling the story of journeys that soldiers faced. He croons over the first verse "At night they'd go walking, till the breaking of the day/ the morning is for sleeping/ through the dark streets/ they go searching to see God in their on way/ save the night-time for your weeping ...", laced with a heavy chanting chorus that can almost be perceived as a "Stadium Anthem", it is clear to notice that aside from the melodic arrangements that were greatly produced by Brian Eno, It's evident to see that the lyricism is at a great altitude in this album. Taking the common advice of the "Less- is-more" approach, The subtle approach of few words spoken, is a hit for the band. "Lost" can be the great cross-over track for most Hip-Hop fans who aren't familiar with Coldplay's previous works, and just have chimed in based on the feature that linked Kanye West and Chris Martin together, for the song "Homecoming" off of Kanye's 2007 classic "Graduation". This song serves a lot of notoriety, as well as a nice drum led beat on the album. "42" is the most optimistic record I have heard since i first gave ear to John Lennon's "Imagine". Funny that I say this because, if you listen closely to the beginning of the song, it almost seems as if the piano elements from "Imagine" were borrowed to create a totally newer version. While a spell binding, subtle yet intricate choices of words to create a chorus, "Those who are dead/ are not dead/ they're just living in my head ..." it is clear to see the groups aim. Although most may find it tacky, or controversial, I believe the band excelled greatly in their task and have made an uplifting toast for our generation. This 10 track album (plus 2 bonus tracks) have some songs that last for about 6 minutes long, having hidden tracks seconds after the first song has ended. One notably exceptional song on the album, is the track "Yes". It will have you saying "Yes, this song is a hit", especially after hearing the guitar high speed driven "Chinese Sleep Chant" (placed right after "Yes"). Even the two leading single's for this LP, have proven sharp edge and heavy anticipation for this album. The title track "Viva La Vida" portrays Chris' voice is a very beautiful, story -telling octave, as he professes his life as a once lived king - turned peasant, over a somewhat monumental, london-bell orchestration. "Violet Hill" capture's Chris once again, in his downtime as he reminisces over the lost love of his life. The album ends with the second half of the title track. "Death and All of His Friends", is such a beautiful track, as it embarks on a questionable conclusion of the album's adventurous sound, and lyricism, with a subtle aspect of instrumentation in the first minute. Building momentum on a heavy chopped, chord driven, piano laden kick, the melody warps listener's in to make its final impression. As the songs fades out, the only thing you hear is an echo on synth's [synthesizer's], leading to the way the album first began only this time called "The Escapist", while we now hear Chris' voice chiming, over the song. Signifying their journey has became complete in another way of living "Life in Technicolor". It is rare to find a rock band in this generation that can defy their own boundaries and rip an old page out, to write a new one efficiently as Coldplay has done with this album. The only thing that reminds me of this is, Pink Floyd's transition from their 1973, "Dark Side of the Moon", to their 1979, "The Wall" and that album was a 2 disc (or vinyl); "Viva La Vida" is only 1. The key component to a classic is to have an "effortless error" which Coldplay possessed in some of the tracks. It leaves a great mystery that stimulates your imagination; you'll find yourself thinking, "I wonder how the song would've been if they would've did this ..." Another plus, is the story-line that excentuates progresses throughout the 46 minutes of this album. The Joy and pain is almost relatively felt and each song almost portrays a new scene of act, as if you were at a Shakespearean play. The band ended the way they started and also did not add any fluff [extra unnecessary songs] to the album. It was straight, and to the point, the MUSIC. I will say it now, I believe this album will be an "Album of the Year" nominee for the 2009 Grammy's. Anything short of the Glory, would be shameful. 5 star classic. The Glory. " " " *Also, for those curious minds * ..., *The album did not get the high rating it did, because it is something outside of Hip-Hop that I'm just trying to be "Down" with, it got the rating it deserves! 24. *From my MySpace Blog Dated 6/24/08. "What do you call it when, Coldplay charges $30 dollars for souvenir t-shirts and, performs a 70 minute set with no Encore performance?!!!! CALL IT A "FREE - SHOW" ... LOL In May 2008, the now globally acclaimed british rock group "Coldplay" announced there plans to host 3 free shows before their actual tour begins. One in London, Barcelona (Spain), and one in the U.S. (NYC). The only way fans can get access to a seat (or 2) was by a raffle that chose the winners in each respected country. 10,000 people came to witness the "free- show", including myself. Indeed, it was. I was at first very disappointed when I got into the arena because, I did not see any dynamic set furnishings or anything like that. Although, I did see the cliche, "rock band runway" on each side of the stage I was still hoping for some more. I kept my hopes alive and, swam on with the optimism. I had a great feeling that the light show was going to be good. I was wrong. "Good" cannot even describe how impeccable the technician was on orchestrating the lights with each song. The actual set was later discovered as about 6 (maybe 7) giant circular objects (Similar to Kanye West's Glow In the Dark Tour "Flashing Lights" segment), escalated down, some almost touching the stage floor, and began to be used as titan-trons (how AWESOME !!!). The band performed a 16 song set, including various hits from their epic new album "Viva La Vida", and a string of timeless material from their previous works. Performing on all ends and, sides of the stage, even performing up on the lower tire balcony (section 60 to be exact) as Chris [Martin] crooned vulnerably for the crowds participation to their acoustic rendition of "Yellow". Fellow band mate, drummer Will Champion declare the 'Death will Never Conquer" as he sung quite impressively to Chris' harmonica melody. In all, the concert gave a lot of excitement for fans in the northeastern United States area (especially for the New York/ Tri-State Area). As they close the show out with a glow in the dark confetti filled, video montage driven "Lovers in Japan", fans (myself included) were surely sad the band did not come out to perform one more song as an encore performance but, Hey, "You reap, what you sow". Many of us [audience] didn't sow anything because it was a "Free - ...". I rest my case. Though I wonder if Chris Rock, and Molly Sims won tickets to the event by an email as well, because they were there too SMH. It was a very great show that was for free but, not a great show if it were something you "paid" for. Lookout for announcements regarding their return to the Garden later this year for the ACTUAL tour show. " - Ernest.
