  1. Don't "get" modern humour I'm at a complete loss to understand modern "humour". I don't get what's funny about insulting someone as a "joke" and then saying sorry afterwards Just like the Sachsgate affair - what was funny about Brand telling an old man he'd slept with his granddaughter and as a result Sachs no longer has a relationship with her. Absolutely hilarious, as is this attack on Chris. What funny times we live in, where a lack of respect for everyone and everything passes for wit.
  2. Fancy putting on a roof that does not close fully. Bloody British builders, always leaving building jobs half done! :)
  3. Mimixxx;, I don't thinkl we can blame Coldplay for their lack of Brit success for not being in the UK enough on the early leg of the tour. The Brits for the last 4-5 years now has made a point of studiously eschewing the favourite candidate for someone else, so that they're perceived as..... welll I don't know what... stupid! I haven't been this mad about an award going to the wrong recipient since Brokeback Mountain did not win Best Picture Oscar in 2006.... that was also for political reasons as well.
  4. Chris often compares them but I don't see the comparison myself. Coldplay's music is piano based rock - until the current album anyway - and even Viva La Vida doesn't remotely sound like U2. Even as bands they are chalk and cheese. Bono and Chris couldn't be more different. As the Brits gig finished Bono boozed it up on live TV in front of the camera on Brtis Encore, whilst Chris ate Warbuton bread and drank semi-skimmed milk. There's nothing wrong in either or their music, but to say U2= Coldplay is just lazy journalism IMO.
  5. Yep, that's all I had to move! :)
  6. Ah OK, I went on the Friday night! I remember it well - I had just moved house the day before and still had everything in crates!
  7. I was there too! What day did you go? I don't recall it being cold in the evening! In any case doesn't Wembley have a sliding roof? They can always close it to avoid another Alexandra-Palace style gig that Coldplay did back in 2005 (i.e. a washout!)
  8. No - because they didn't pick up any Brits on Wednesday!
  9. But we're talking Britain here Pete! Britain is obsessed with class still in the 21st century. I still find prejudice against the North from the South and vice versa and most of it is down to petty stereotyping down to class. I'm not sure so much that's the only reason some choose to hate Coldplay though. As a nation, we loath success and successful people. We turn on people once they become successful. We also champion the underdog. That's exactly what happened on Wednesday night. Both the Brit Award judges and Jo Public thought "those guys have won enough Brits, time to give someone else a chance". IMHO Viva La Vida is the best of Coldplay's four albums. I only hope that the band don't read this as a "mistake" and go back to the comfort zone. Bands grow when they experiement, and this has been a fantastic one IMO. Does anyone else has the variety of sounds or the sheer genius of the title track that Viva La Vida has? As I said before, Viva La Vida (song) is a work of timeless art. If people can't see it or appreciate it it's very sad. I felt really bad for the band on Wednesday. It's the first time I've watched the Brits in years and wish I hadn't now. I also agree with the comment earlier re the performance of Viva La Vida on the night: it was one of their best to date. I am not suprised in the slightest Coldplay choose to spend so much time in the US: look how Britain treats them: appallingly.
  10. They did used to be very different . I remember the Pet Shop Boys attending with Dusty Springfielf doing a live performance in 1988 - it was v very much a formal, black tie event back then. We've become the Kings of naffness since.
  11. It was embarassing! Just who were those two clowns? Britain's supposedly top mucic event and this is how we choose to present ourselves to the world? God help us come the Olympics!
  12. What is it with Britain hating success so much? No wonder good people are leaving the country in droves! It seems Coldplay are choosing to do the same too, given how much time they'll be in the US again next year. and who can blame them?
  13. Well I too am gutted Coldplay didn't win either best album or best single. Viva La Vida I have played and played more than any other song last year and still listen to it a lot now. Viva La Vida is not just music: it's a work of timeless art. The Brits did come across as a bit of Joke in the way the ceremony was presented as well IMO. It comes across as just fluff The worthy winners IMO were Kings of Leon, Elbow and of course the Pet Shop Boys who I always have liked - especially their 80's stuff.
  14. Wow he is! Extremely!
  15. Anyone know when/ if / where the funky Viva La Vida remix played at the 02 gig after the Simon Pegg sets is/ will be released? I really liked it!
  16. BTW is there a way to upload pics to this website or must they be hosted elsewhere?
  17. BTW kimchi, if you want those butterflies The Oracle has recently answered on the Coldplay website where they source them from.
  18. One word to describe it: awesome! I've been to loads of gigs in my time, this was just awesome. My apologies to kimchi who was looking to ticket swap for a better butterfly grabbing position, I got my number's mixed up (I'm dyslexic ) . I was in block 103, not 107 ! When I realised the error my phone died and I was unable to call you, I'm so sorry! The highlight of the evening for me was the Simon Pegg sets as they ended up only a few rows behind from where I was sitting! BTW I started the wooooooo-ooh - ing at the end! It eminated from me and spread around in concentric circles! The best end to a perfect gig! The only slight critiicism of the gig was not of Coldplay but of the audience, it just seemed so oddly muted for a venue this size compared to gigs I've been to in the past. Perhaps it is the seated venue that is causing this, I went to see Keane there last summer and that had a very animated audience but the floor was standing rather than seated - as gigs should be!
  19. I always wondered what Republicans were doing with themselves these days after the tears washed away all the spilt milk on November 5th! :)
  20. So excited about tomorrow after reading the reviews, I'm like a kid before Christmas! Hope to catch some of you tomorrow! Glad to hear about camera situation as well (although be warned, I did have my Canon 350D confiscated at the last gig there - albeit it was was fairly obvious with its telephoto lens). If security ask you to take it to security, you will miss some of the show.
  21. Does Debs have an auto-forwarder to you, or are you closely linked to the band? (if the later, it explains a lot! ;) )
  22. He has, he was very aggresive (as you'd expect), competitve and came 2nd in the lap if I recall correctly. Bump as I need more votes before I go to Top Gear/ Debs... Guy would be great on this....
  23. DELIGHTED Coldplay are for gays..... If Coldplay are for gays, them I'm DELIGHTED that's the case.... I've waited YEARS to be in a majority,.. given how popular Coldplay are right now! My extreme thanks to Chris Martin... who should be knighted (or should that be made a Dame?) .. and please... OP can you crawl back under your unpopular hetrosexual stone please? :)
  24. Smart guys + lawyers....? Personally, as a liberal I'm all for freedom of the press and the Internet. Even if this means someone says something about my favourite band I don't like to hear myself. However, all the member of Coldplay are highly intelligent, and I'm sure they have some pretty good lawyers. If this proceeds in the US it's going to get dirty and much as I hate censorship - the band/ EMI probably did it for a reason. However, the fact that it was pulled may also be used against them too, so I'd advise against censorship... it may dig a bigger hole....
  25. Hi, does anyone know if they still have a camera restriction at the 02 venue?
