I checked with the BBC this afternoon, the times for gate (12) and studio (1pm) are still on schedule. There is somewhere for people to store their coats etc but the BBC are not responsible for the items. Photos are not allowed in the studio. Completely agree - I think the core of Coldplay's casual base is 30 something who are less likely to download. Plus they have missed out on Christmas gifts by older relatives looking for something for their son, niece, granddaughter , whatever, who would happen to see a Coldplay Christmas song and buy it, but are highly unlikely to know what iTunes even is.

Guy himself would be proud (given he has a very wicked, dark sense of humour)

I don't know. Chris admitted in his radio 1 interview that it wasn't probably such a good idea to have only 100 physical releases? The release seems odd - maybe no 1 isn't their intention - no physical copies, and very little UK airplay so far...

The official UK singles charts includes all downloads - e.g. Amazon and other sites, not just iTunes. It also includes hard copies as well. This disparity suggests it's doing well on UK iTunes but equally other songs are doing well elsewhere - hence the 18 position in the chart.

Same in the UK MArtinFan, aside from the two airings for its launch, I haven't heard it once on the radio :(

How old are you out of interst? I had a similar discussion this evening, along the lines of "the charts were so much better in the 1980's". For me, it was around 1989 with the "manufactured" pop bands of Stock, Aitken & Waterman that started to ruin things...

These are the iTunes stats, not the charts. The UK singles charts was announced this evening, Christmas lights has entered at no 18. That is both a good and bad thing. I expected it to be higher, but it means it has time to grow and climb and not peak too early.

Jilly, don't contemplate such sad things! A tribute band is never as good as the original. I was very sad the day John Lennon was killed Chris cannot function without music, it's his raison d’être - I cannot see functioning without writing or performing. I have high hopes the band has longevity.

One of them (or extreme right) seems much better hips-wise than the others. Who is it?
