What does "Major Minus" MEAN?
Yes I think this song deserves more credit that it's getting. The lyrics are very deep and work on multiple levels. I saw it as a critique of the Big Brother society we are now living in, because it could equally apply to Chris Martin as Jo Bloggs, though obviously more so in his case.

What do you think of the new song 'Paradise'?
9/10 9/10 for me It has just stuck in my head. The more I listen to it, the more I find to appreciate in it

Do you like Princess of China?
The 'Yes' of Mylo Xyloto It's the only song from MX that I can't stand at all - it's the equivalent of 'Yes' from Viva La Vida. Doubly disappointing given how much hype there's been surrounding this song for so long.

Simply one of the best ever 10/10 One of their most beautiful songs ever. Better live than album version though

A slight problem I have with the Album Version
Yes album version is different Yes me too re the album version! I simply loved the live version with the harmonising going on between Will & Chris. Yet on the album mix Will's voice is barely audible. Shame. Still Coldplay have often done more exquisite live versions of their album work, which is often the point of live music isn't it? Chris' solo performance of Yellow with Davide Rossi on the violin @ Mountain View, CA is simply the most beautiful thing I ever heard..

Amy Winehouse Found Dead
Yes Being a soul fan I found the news very sad. It's troubling someone so young and talented was not at peace. I also found the front page of the Apple store last night deeply cynical. Front page: "Remembering Amy Winehouse" . What was this a link to? A montage of her best work for people to remember her by? A nice short tribute looking back at her work? No - a link where you can happily buy all her tracks. This has really tarnished my view of Apple and the industry. Really cynical and low - she isn't even buried yet and already people hear the cash registers ringing.

[22-July-2011] iTunes Festival, Roundhouse, London, UK
Ha ha! It wasn't that hot out in London last night, it reminds me that some of our live indoor venues are phenomonally poor when it comes to air conditioning/ ventilation. I'm sure you wouldn't encounter that in most major US venues.. Loving the new material .. I really liked Moving To Mars... it seems a continuation of the World Against Us somehow... The only new song that doesn't work for me is MX.... this song hasn't grown on me at all! And yes the ITV2 coverage was dire relative to the show... less than a 1/3rd of the setlist played and Vernon Kay banging on about anything but Coldplay for nearly 10 mins.... you forget how good the BBC coverage is !

Viva La Vida: Wakeup Music of the Space Shuttle’s Final Mission
They did play Speed of Sound earlier this year: http://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/shuttle/shuttlemissions/sts135/135_wakeup.html Awesome they are playing this, but bittersweet when you consider its lyrics. The end of era for the Space Shuttle and NASA.

[25-June-2011] Coldplay @ Glastonbury festival, Worthy Farm, Pilton, UK
WoW! Coldplay's Glastonbury 2011 performance was really memorable. Reminded me why I like the band so much, and what great songwriters they are. Viva sounded better than it has done throughout the Viva Tour, and I loved all the new material The highlight for me was the Chris/Will duet for Us Against the World - despite the mistake. The harmonising between him and Chris just equisite, on a par with Chris' live performance of Yellow at Mountain View, CA a while ago, which was done with just piano and violin. I also loved the spectacle of the show. I always loved the huge shows U2 used to do in this regard - I thought their set list was quite muted by comparison in terms of spectacle. Will: what a great voice man! Why have you been hiding it under a bushel? More of it please!

Long Live Life replied to busybeeburns's topic in Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall (Single, EP & video)You've lost me with that remark! Are you referring to the date of their South African tour?

Rate 'Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall' now!
Long Live Life replied to busybeeburns's topic in Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall (Single, EP & video)8/10 - This song is perfect to be played at summer festivals since it captures their mood perfectly - in many ways it reminds me of a cross between a song from U2's Achtung Baby and Coldplay's own Lovers In Japan. I'm loving the guitar riff in this and the fact that Jonny's been given centre-stage in this song. It also does the usual Coldplay trick of combining melancholy lyrics with a deeply uplifting melody - so I'm not sure that people can say this isn't typical Coldplay: this is unmistakeably Coldplay! Just hear the sunshine streaming from the melody: they've clearly been influenced by the very sunny weather we've been experiencing in the UK recently. As a long time fan, I genuinely feel really sorry for the band by the number of people that shout 'plagiarism' every time they release a new song that shows great potential these days. It's a true recognition of how truly massive the band's become and yet at the same time is a sad reflection on parts of society: wanting to either grab a piece of their success or somehow denigrate it. Yes, there are similarities with other songs as I've indicated myself, but pure plagarism? People should grow up or produce music of their own.

Alien care label It's the alien clothes care label for spin dry. Aliens have poor eyesight. Can't comment on the new song because I haven't heard it yet. Like the new artwork and use of colour though - it seems an evolution of the Viva era.

Coldplay to "play in your back garden" competition....
....well it'd be kind of cool wouldn't it? Remember in the Viva Tour they did this in the US? Perhaps they could do 5-10 for the UK fans . Two ways : - Leave some art hidden across the country with a code to be reported back to their website. First 10 get a private gig - Special graffiti artwork with 10 copies of LP5.... with the invite enclosed.

So I was at the Bakery...

Olympics 2012 opening / closing ceremony gigs
I have a feeling we'll need lots of self-deprecation for these Olympics and our good sense of humour. The Olympic countdown clock has already stopped....

Olympics 2012 opening / closing ceremony gigs
Coldplay often get stick for that in the UK, but I don't agree. Their last album -VLV is indeed quite dark in its theme - but it also has Strawberry Swing and Lovers in Japan, too decidely optimistic tracks. People forget the sunny optimism of Parachutes. Listen to it again. It's like the musical equivalent of strong sunshine. I've often said Chris has an uncanny knack of reflecting the mood of the times with the music he writes. They were young in 2000 and we were genuinely optimistic as a country in the UK at that time. By 2008 we'd grown disillusioned with two wars and the economic mood was darkening too. Coldplay reflect life and are not 'depressing'. They reflect life in all its moods.

Olympics 2012 opening / closing ceremony gigs
Nah, thankfully that was just a joke in bad taste - a sort of "alternative Olympics!", see: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/othersports/olympics/8386365/London-2012-Olympics-Trafalgar-Square-countdown-clock-stalling-after-launch-blurs-line-of-reality-and-parody.html

Olympics 2012 opening / closing ceremony gigs
Any news on who will be playing at the Olympic 2012 opening and closing ceremonies? Aside from the obvious reasons why I'd like to see Coldplay there I think they should be invited because: - they're one of Britain's biggest ever bands - they have true international appeal, whilst being definitely British in character - I'd rather see them than some of the other names suggested - Chris has the self deprecation and humour that we'll need for our games ! :)

Chris Martin v Guy Berryman
Yes - I think this story may relate to the time Chris had a scuffle with a pap outside a restaurant in London

Studiofeed
I did say a while ago that the UFO theme was related to LP5 (following the Roadie's blog last year about being asked to source a model of the solar system!) The live transmissions icon also has a UFO hovering over the globe when you hover over it

Chris Martin v Guy Berryman
He's been very thin for ages! I'm not sure how it's possible for a mid 30s man to be so thin!
-
Chris Martin v Guy Berryman
Chris... steroids? What makes you think Chris would do steroids? If you look at him around the time of the pre-publicity for VLV, he was pretty chunky then too. As the VLV tour progressed, he became thinner and thinner Coldplay haven't been touring for 12 months now - plenty of time for Chris to spend in the gym, something he probably doesn't get the chance to do whilst on tour.

Chris Martin v Guy Berryman
Yes, but isn't Guy from the small a-typical part that prefers shortbread and afternoon tea to bar room brawls? :)
