Elbow
I am still loving The Birds, and I think Lippy Kids is beautiful

One Day Like This is going to be the song that defines Elbow, they can try and replicate it but anything will come up short

Elbow

Elbow
It is amazing eh? I like the Birds. first listen I wasn't too sure, but when it picks up at the end it is going to AMAZING live

The R.E.M. Thread
I liked Collapse Into Now a LOT! it flowed very well!

Elbow
do not compare it to anything when you listen to it. think of it as a stand alone album...don't relate it to anything in the past, soak it in

Elbow
Neat Little Rows is like 5:40 in length. The single does mislead you to the sound. It's amazing. I have listend to it twice since last night and I love it. I am not sure if it tops SSK, but it's well done. The chorus of Open Arms does remind me of One Day Like This, but other songs such as With Love, Lippy Kids, and Dear Friends are wonderful...not as heavy or driven, but amazing record. The Birds is epic in length and changes up in style for a bit, but very good

I wish I lived in the UK....damn, lol Music is always better there. the popular music here sucks and I can't stand the radio...satellite is somewhat of an alternative, but it sucks for live shows too - I don't get to see most bands I really enjoy....:( But I seriously cannot wait for this album. I got the Q album review in Q magazine yesterday (which I love) and it just made me more excited... luckily I have REM to distract me for the time being.

Elbow
me too! the HMV in Toronto will probably only get about 1 copy, it will be mine...but still I want to hear it, then buy it - like the music, support the artist by buying it, that's how I roll...ahah

The Boxer Rebellion
bump, has anyone listened and liked the new record? cuz I did! :)
-
Elbow
I am surprised it hasn't leaked yet.... *waits*
-
Elbow
that is an amazing picture! aha I am on an Elbow fix at the moment leading up to the record release
-
Elbow
bumping this because the album is out soon. I am buying it here but I will listen to a leak, anyone find one?
-
Elbow
agreed! i just want the 30 seconds previews...i could (somewhat) - but not really live with that
-
Elbow
i second that. I really can't wait for this album. it will be lengthy too, which i love! :)

The King of Limbs, favorite songs first few listen in
agreed. on my first listen i just heard idioteque in the back of my head. I LOVE Lotus Flower, primarily because I tried not to follow the solo shows Thom did so I could be new to all of this material :) But Bloom feels so disjointed and uncomfortable that I LOVE it. that is what Radiohead does a good job in my mind, making weird songs that just get you into them... I think-wish-hope there is another half to this album, but I love and would be happy with what i have
-
Radiohead
I think this album is amazing and it's funny, in my Radiohead section of iTunes, the King of Limbs is followed by the Knives Out single, and worrywort seems to follow the same theme and atmosphere...I feel like it's a 9th song when I'm not paying attention, :) i like it just thought i'd add that to the amnesiac comparison
-
Radiohead
awesome hunting and work! I just realized that! :) just makes me more happy. the reception of this album I feel is going to be good and HAS been good so far, despite it's Yorke solo comparison because since we knew so little about it we couldn't compare, we couldn't EXPECT something in specific, so it's all good i'd say! :)

Radiohead
it flows really well. Lotus Flower is wonderful, but yes, more guitar would be stellar. maybe more tracks with the physical?
-
The Boxer Rebellion
Union is one of my favorite albums, the new album is a little more downtempo compared to Union but I do like the Cold Still, they will hopefully catch on more and more

James Blunt ~ Official Thread
the album didn't click too much for me...the songs lacked that extra push to make some of them great. for half of them I was waiting for just an epic chorus to break out but i was just a little disappointed. I LOVE So Far Gone though, probably one of my most favorite James Blunt songs
