First, no one insult the Patrol here :whip: :D You don't like them fine, but that's a band that deserve more respect than other for so many reason, I'm not even going to start. They're a lot like Biffy btw (music aside). Second, I don"t understand WHY people say they have sell out...I think you mistake 'commercial' (aka Britney) for 'POPULAR'. You can be popular without compromising yourself or your music, that's what Biffy does. As for the evolution of their music, you change during the course of life, it's normal for a band to explore different directions. Doesn't mean they have 'sell out' (implying they did it for the money)...this kind of reasonning is just reductiv. Plus, the point in doing music is for your work to be heard by the most people....So why should a band stay in the shadows to be good?!! That's ridiculous. They don't care about cash. They've been in the shadows for 10 years and were just fine with it. As Simon once said: 'I prefer mean truly something for 100 fans than a little 'yeah, good' for a million'.

A concept album is supposed to revolved around one idea (lyrics or otherwise) and follow a certain 'logic'. That's not the case in VLV.

Have you heard the contestants?? Sure they can sing but with no passion, it's souless.... :confused: Biffy's all about passion and 'fusion' with the music...Where is all that in this pale cover???! With a good singger in their hands they manage to transform a 'fire' song into a dull one. And that's not 'good' in my book.

Now that you've explained it I totally agree with what you said :) Gary is indeed more angsty, since he's such a screw up and as he said, has always his finger on the 'self-destruct button'... I think that Chris, having settle down with a wife & kids is no more in this 'angsty' mood as he could have been as a teenager...Gary on the contrary is..well, still at square one :lol:

:inquisitive: 95 % of Snow Patrol's songs are about Gary's personnal love life & relationships and how he messed up particulary one (see album 3 and 4 for that since it's about the same woman/relationship)... I don't think Chris will ever use Coldplay lyrics as an open diary of his personal life. If you're talking about straightforward lyrics then I agree but Coldplay pretty much always has that kind of lyrics...
