  1. I'll reserve judgment til I hear it, but I did enjoy the 2 songs we've already heard. But man, whatever the hell happened to Editors? They released that atrocious 3rd album and then vanished off the face of the planet.
  2. Gonna hold off until a better quality one comes along. Not surprised to hear it's a grower, though. TLF was immediately accessible but this album seems like a change in direction.
  3. The nomination deadline is the end of September each year. MX, HUWD, El Camino, etc. are therefore eligible in spite of being released in 2011 since they were ineligible in 2012. That said, you're right about the Grammys not taking themselves seriously if they nominated that crap known as Mylo Xyloto. :P
  4. Adele's voice is infinitely more Bond-appropriate than Matt's voice.
  5. Let's be honest, guys - if Redemption were played in any other country in the world besides Japan, people would just talk over it and there would be random girly shrieks every 3 seconds. I watched a video and it's complete silence in the crowd.
  6. I dig this. "Default" still never quite grew on me, but I like this much better.
  7. Yo La Tengo, Muse, and Local Natives this month. Then nothing planned til Coachella, but I'm sure I'll go to something between then.
  8. Dallas date added 3/13. Go, Violet.
  9. Animals is the love child of Darkshines and Screenager. Possibly the best song on either of the 2 past albums. And RBS would probably be my #6 2 and a half weeks for me? Wow, didn't realize it was that soon. :stunned:
  10. Sounded like you were the one offended by a post. I wasn't offended by a thing. I can take it.
  11. 1. Butterflies and Hurricanes 2. Bliss 3. Map of the Problematique 4. Apocalypse Please 5. Showbiz There are still some recent songs I highly enjoy. Supremacy, Animals, Unnatural Selection, and the Exo Symphony.
  12. And even if I did want to bash them, I'd be perfectly allowed to! ;) It's the Internet. Things you like will be disliked by others. Get used to it.
  13. You're right, I can't listen to a band if I don't like 10-15 of their songs out of like 100.
  14. I still insist that Survival is a bottom 5 Muse song. Down there with the Pragues and the Guiding Lights.
  15. Granted, if you like Guiding Light, Feeling Good or Neutron Star Collision, you should stay away from here too. :P
  16. I used to post on Muse's forum. Extremely unfriendly and rude people. If you want a friendlier Muse fan community, check out Muselive. It's less active than both the official site and than Coldplaying, but there are cool people there and it's also a great place to find gig bootlegs and other unreleased downloads.
  17. Showbiz isn't bad, but it's an awfully blatant attempt to recreate The Bends. I'd argue that the title track is more Muse-esque too, though.
  18. Off-topic, but I went to see Azealia Banks play a 50 minute set earlier in the year and she only played for 20 minutes and then walked off stage. Which made me refuse to pay for her full 90 minute show later in the year, in which she apparently played for less than an hour. I don't care about her personal life or whether she has personal drama or whatever. All I know is she's a lazy bitch who screws over her fans, which is a shame, because her songs are actually pretty good.
  19. AROBTTH would win pretty much every one except A Whisper vs. Up in Flames, which is a toss-up since I'm not really a fan of either one. Maybe a pity win for UIF.
  20. When Ceremonials' dust finally settled, I prefer Lungs slightly more, just because it has a little more diversity on it. Lungs ventures into darker and more raw territory, whereas Ceremonials is mainly upbeat anthems ("Seven Devils" being it's main brilliant deviation from that). I also realize I didn't share my photos from ACL. Here's a few (I took like 40 total): [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ouy2kC_oUVY]Florence and the Machine - Heartlines - Live at Austin City Limits (ACL) Festival - 10/12/12 - YouTube[/ame]
  21. Mumford and Sons only plagiarize themselves. I swear all of their singles are the exact same damn song.
  22. Same. Pitchfork's fantastic for new discoveries, as their reviews are often a starting point for a lot of bands' initial buzz. If an album gets a "Best New Music" honor from Pitchfork, I'm probably gonna check it out. Of course, they also have vendettas against many popular bands, and that's why I also enjoy Consequence of Sound's reviews a lot, since they're both thorough and tend to reflect my own opinions more than anyone else. I disregard most of the others these days, though. NME purposely inflates the British artists who are successful only because of NME's hype (just look at their 2012 top album list - half of it mediocre NME-raised artists who don't appear on anyone else's year-end lists). Rolling Stone's reviews are 3 sentences long, and that magazine's less about music these days than MTV is. And I've never given Q much thought or cared.
  23. Certainly. That's actually smart because it could cause them to initiate conversation with you rather than the other way around. And if they look away, then hey, you tried in a non-pestering fashion and there's no shame in that. I waved to Conor Oberst (Bright Eyes) at someone else's concert once and he shyed away, but at least that meant I wasn't bugging him.
  24. If you see a band member in the mall, at the store, etc., my advice is to ignore them. At their concert or even at someone else's concert is fair game (though that second one varies), but everything else is them having a life. I should share that a friend of mine got into a secret intimate 300-capacity Green Day show a few months ago. They wouldn't even meet fans there. So that's a case of a band just not doing that kind of thing anymore. It's kinda sad, but there's nothing you can do about it.
  25. Chris Martin's autograph really gets in the way of me playing Angry Birds and reading my GPS.
