  1. I think "Follow Me", "Resistance", and "Starlight" are all the same blandish song.
  2. A joke of a song no one takes seriously for a joke of an awards show no one takes seriously. Appropriate.
  3. $550 hahahahahahahahaha Granted, this is pretty freaking huge. I'm not a big Jay-Z fan, and I've been sour on Coldplay in recent years, but this sounds like it could be a once-in-a-lifetime show.
  4. Yes and no. Way less people will try to get tickets for this one. BUT, it's a very tiny arena. 10,000 capacity. Hell, that almost doesn't even qualify as an arena. So you have half as many good seats to fight for. Still, I'd say more yes than no.
  5. DLIBYH is a pure pop song. Barely a rock song at all. Not to mention it's not even a single and can't be nominated fr anything anyway.
  6. I like it. Not sure if I love it quite yet, but I can get on board with this direction for the album. A lot of bands become soft sissies after gaining more mainstream success, so as much as I love "Spanish Sahara", I'm kinda glad Foals ran the other way and instead got heavier than ever.

The batch of nominees were odd this year. Field Music's a really overlooked and deserving band but I honestly haven't listened to their newest album yet. As for Alt-J, I think they're alright. I'm a bit puzzled by their insane hype that will no doubt increase even more after winning the Mercury, but there are certainly worse artists on a similar rise.
  8. Well I guess I'm going to the Vegas show now. Enough jerks convinced me to go. :dozey: Also, I was shocked that plenty of GA tickets were still available weeks after they went on sale, especially for a puny 11,000 capacity arena.
  9. Obama's supporters keep repeating the lamest excuses ever to defend him. "HE'S BETTER THAN BUSH!" Okay, so if you're a kid in school and you get a 45% on a test, does your mommy buy you ice cream just because the kid next to you got a 40%? No, because you still FAILED the test. "HE'S TRYING HIS BEST!" Yes, I'm sure every president ever has tried their best. But "trying" isn't "doing", because ANYONE can "try". My mailman can "try" to president. That doesn't mean he'd be competent. Just like how if you're a kid who "tries" on a test and still gets a 45%, that kid still fails. "THE PROBLEMS WERE CREATED BEFORE HIM!" That was a cool excuse after 4 months. It's been 4 years now. And what did he do those 2 years where his party had total control and he could do whatever he wanted? Wasted time writing a health care bill that his own party didn't like and passed just so they could say they actually passed something. So please shut up. I already voted 3rd party (thank you, absentee balloting!) since I'm not a fan of Romney either, but I really hate this misconception in the media that if you're rich and you're not a Hollywood bigshot, then you by default stole that money and are "out of touch" with the working class. That's BS. If you're successful in your business, you should be rewarded. That's also why I think raising taxes is ridiculous when the upper class already pays the majority of taxes. Romney is, of course an even more frequent flip-flopper than that stupid clown Kerry in 2004, his Massachusetts counterpart, so no one knows what he really believes. Oh yeah, the big issue right now is the economy. Not whatever social issue you have shoved up your ass. Whether Billy gets to marry Bobby or Sally isn't going to get you a job. Also, you're not Billy, so you have no business determining who Billy gets to marry.
  10. I was surprised when I heard Matt was actually going into the crowd this tour, but I just watched a video and he's basically just shaking hands along the barrier and making 15-year-old girls wet their panties. When I think "crowd runs", I think of bouncing around down there or full-on jumping the barrier with your guitar in hand and rocking out actually IN the crowd. This is...kinda lame and is only gonna make me wanna swat little girls trying to shove past me during Undisclosed Desires, which is still an awful song live and may be even worse now if Matt doesn't actually have an instrument.
  11. I ended up getting seats for one of the two shows I'm attending in January, but judging by those stage pics, it might be the only way I can properly appreciate that set-up. I remember someone's joke tweet back when The 2nd LAWL first came out that Album 7 would be a beatbox album. That may not be that much of a joke.
  12. "Deep Blue" is good, though I still think "Wasted Hours" feels like a total filler track. The Suburbs is an amazing album but trimming some of the "fat" in places could've made it even better.
  13. It's great to see some Showbiz songs back in the mix, though I can't say "Falling Down" has ever really been a favorite of mine. Granted, I haven't been paying attention to the live videos yet (hell, I only just today saw a picture of what this tour's stage looked like, pretty neat and way better than those style-over-substance Resistance towers). I would just like to go on the record and say I'm absolutely sick of "Supremacy" being called a "Bond" theme or whatever and how it should've been on Skyfall. I'm not really an Adele fan, but her voice is PERFECT for Bond. Sexy, old-school crooner voice that meshes well with Bond history, plus the fact that her song is pretty damn good. Whereas Matt's voice is more suited for something like Broadway. Not to mention that I really don't get one single Bond vibe from "Supremacy" other than those spy-like final 5 seconds that could honestly be appropriate for any spy or secret agent movie ever, not necessarily Bond. Rant over.
  14. I'm just gonna take a 365-day nap during 2013 then. Sounds like a waste of a year to me.

  16. Thank the heavens. These guys are kinda really fucking good.
  17. Saw the following at ACL last weekend: Los Campesinos, The War on Drugs, Tegan and Sara, Florence and the Machine (for the 9th time lol), M83, The Black Keys, Rufus Wainwright, Father John Misty, Metric, Andrew Bird, Band of Skulls, The Shins, Jack White, Neil Young and Crazy Horse, The Afghan Whigs, Stars, Gary Clark, Jr., Tennis, Two Door Cinema Club, Iggy and the Stooges, Crystal Castles, Red Hot Chili Peppers The Stooges were ridiculously awesome. Probably the best of the fest.
  18. Thread winner. Also, Robyn owns your faces.
  19. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1G4isv_Fylg]Coldplay - Paradise - YouTube[/ame] That's exactly how I feel about Of Monsters and Men. (I kinda like TNAF though)
  20. That setlist was fake. Surprised how many people missed the obvious "Problematic" misspelling. Falling Down and Host got played, though. Almost enough to forgive the lack of Stockholm Syndrome.
  21. Ended up seeing Florence/Weeknd/Maccabees twice this past weekend. Twas awesome. This next week is my big remaining gig week for the year: Austin City Limits (3 days of craziness) Metric Afghan Whigs Stars Then my itinerary is pretty much empty. Though I just yesterday fixed that by getting tickets for Tame Impala in November and Muse in January.
  22. So yeah, I saw this happen: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ykG_sQeY6fY]The Maccabees w/ Florence and the Machine - "Toothpaste Kisses" - Live at Hollywood Bowl 10/8/12 - YouTube[/ame]
  23. I do like will call at smaller gigs. But it can be a hassle at larger shows. That said, I'm not sure if every single GA is will call or if those sold through Ticketmaster will be different. Because when Muse's presale said "paperless", I thought it meant using your credit card for entry like Radiohead did. So we'll see what happens in the upcoming sales.
  24. Yeah, in 5 seconds. :laugh3: Granted, there are like 3 different radio presales here too. And THEN a general sale. Sheesh. Those will all have more of the GA's.
