  1. Before MX, their audience was the general populace, teens, adults, old fogies, soccer moms, gay people, straight people, and anyone with a radio. Now their audience is the general populace, teens, adults, old fogies, soccer moms, gay people, straight people, anyone with a radio, and tripped-out rave kids on ecstasy. So they gained tripped-out rave kids on ecstasy.
  2. On another note, it's pretty obvious someone on Tumblr stole this photo from someone who got a photo with Dom and just cropped them out of the left side. You can even still see their shoulder. I know because people on Tumblr are notorious for this stuff, especially in the Muse fandom. I've had friends have this happen to them. No credit, no attempt to cover it up.
  3. Pretty much agreed word-for-word with this. Let's face it - things happen. Plans change, things come up last minute, emergencies happen, etc. This happens to all of us. Stubhub has saved my ass from losing money in these incidents. With paperless, I don't have that ability and I'm totally out of luck. I've noticed Ticketmaster is now allowing resale back through them for some paperless events, and that's a great idea since it requires face value resale, but not all paperless events allow that.
  4. Which is great and dandy at 2pm, because I do that all the time. But not 2am.
  5. And because crazies want to, therefore you do indeed have to. ;)
  6. Jack White's album is pretty good and that probably has the best shot at winning, quite frankly. The Black Keys' album is nominated and isn't bad either. And look outside the mainstream if you want great rock. Japandroids, Joy Formidable, Titus Andronicus, Cloud Nothings, it's all very alive and healthy.
  7. Granted, so was Mylo Xyloto, so nominating garbage up against MX suddenly makes garbage look like sparkling diamonds.
  8. We know. We've known that for a while now. Your point?
  9. God I'm so glad I don't live over there and don't have to do that :laugh3:
  10. It's not my fault I ran some kids over with my car and then cut off their limbs with a chainsaw, I'm just going through tough times.
  11. I find that venue size is the biggest factor. Less than 5,000 capacity is ideal. At a stadium? No way in hell. It's extremely difficult at an arena, but a stadium? Don't even bother trying, quite honestly. It also depends on the band's schedule. Sometimes the band has to immediately head out the door after a show to reach the next city on their tour schedule in time or get to whatever fancy afterparty they have in store. The band themselves is a big factor too. Some bands are great to fans, and some are outright jackasses who won't talk to you because they have attitude problems. The majority are great to their fans, but occasionally you'll deal with one that doesn't appreciate fans like they should (*cough*Metric*cough*). But for smaller venues, your best bet is to locate the tour buses or the door where gear is being loaded back into the trucks and wait there after the show. Or at some venues, just waiting out front gets the job done. It depends on the venue, but chances are other people will be waiting for the band, so spot the crowd. Many festivals also have band signings, though this is restricted to smaller acts.
  12. All valid points, but let's face it - the Grammys are largely a popularity contest. Not entirely popularity-based, as indicated by the occasional upset like Arcade Fire AOTY, but still largely. Legends definitely have a vote bias merely because of who they are, and that's why I think The Boss has a good shot too. And I think that's what also propelled Muse to victory with The Resistance since the legend vote was entirely split among the other contenders, with Muse being the only option for younger act. El Camino is obviously not The Black Keys' best album. Brothers won in 2011 and was a better album than El Camino, but was in far less categories. El Camino has propelled them to superstardom and the Keys have tons of momentum. I hate Mumford & Sons, but they have lots of momentum right now. While Coldplay's overall popularity is steady right now (i.e. "freaking huge"), MX didn't give them much in the way of momentum, with the singles generally charting poorly outside the UK in spite of sales being just fine and dandy.
  13. Actually, The 2nd Law DIDN'T chart at the top in the U.S. No Muse album has ever charted at the top here. They won for The Resistance in a weak field and for an album that finally broke them big success outside Europe. The 2nd Law won't win. Not to mention it's a poor album by them, even if it's not as terrible as Mylo Xyloto. Like I said, I expect Jack White or the Keys to clean house in every rock category.
  14. Yeah, the Grammys love Coldplay, but we won't be seeing a Viva repeat. Not only did they get way less nominations this time, but their against some bigger momentum-movers. The Black Keys' momentum train has been ridiculously strong, Jack White got heaps of praise for Blunderbuss, Mumford's amid peak hype, and of course, The Boss has that whole legend factor. Coldplay may as well not even show up, especially with non-televised categories.
  15. Grammy nominations for Rock Album and Rock Song (Madness). Doubt they'll win again. The Black Keys and Jack White have really strong momentum this year.
  16. Because it's awful? Last year was the first year it wasn't. They've thrown it out the window and into the online-only pre-show.
  17. First time I heard this song, I was pretty sure I was gonna love the hell out of these guys. Unfortunately, it's far and away their best song. I don't dislike them, but the majority of their stuff is pretty bland in comparison.
  18. U2 has had rumored releases the past 3 years in a row. They probably won't release anything til 2020. :laugh3: The Joy Formidable - Wolf's Law Local Natives - Hummingbird Tegan and Sara - Heartthrob Foals - Holy Fire Confirmed albums by: Yeah Yeah Yeahs Atoms for Peace Rumored albums by: The National Arcade Fire (still skeptical though) Phoenix MGMT Vampire Weekend Warpaint
  19. I'm on a Coldplay forum but I don't listen to Coldplay. I'M HERE IRONICALLY.
  20. Much of the time when a frontman suffers an injury, the entire tour is canceled. Only 3 dates is, quite frankly, lucky as hell.

Saw and met them at ACL last month and got my copy of The North signed. Great set in spite of unfortunately having an early-day set before most festival goers arrived. Sadly, I had tickets for their LA show a week later and caught a horrible flu, so I couldn't go. Sad times. Hopefully they'll return before the end of the tour. New songs sound great live, though! (and "Hold on..." is the most jump-able live song ever)
  22. Catherine? I became great friends with her on the last tour and we talk regularly. I love that crazy bitch. :laugh3:
  23. You're right, it should've gone to In Rainbows. :P
  24. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ugw3ARV4X9g]Crystal Castles - Suffocation - YouTube[/ame] Love the hell out of this song. Hate the hell out of this band. One of the worst live shows I've ever seen, but I was happy they at least played this.
  25. Eh...I really don't think "Starlight" is anywhere near the timeless classic "Clocks" is. And my attitude toward Coldplay has been nearly 100% negative the last few years, but "Clocks" is an instantly recognizable song worldwide regardless of your age, musical tastes, or exposure. It's a song that's firmly ingrained in most cultures. Whereas "Starlight" isn't very recognizable to those not regularly exposed to rock radio. Not to mention I'd argue that "Clocks" defines Coldplay's core sound very well, while "Starlight" isn't representative of the rest of Muse's material.
