Music Sales 2008
Radiohead are not good examples. They don't need radio NOW. But they certainly utilized it early in their careers. Songs like Creep, Fake Plastic Trees, Karma Police, and High and Dry were all useful in getting Radiohead into people's household. Countless bands don't need radio ANY LONGER. Just sticking with rock acts, look at Pearl Jam, Depeche Mode, Metallica, The Cure, R.E.M., Dave Matthews Band, Bruce Springsteen, Tom Petty, and U2. All of these artists are still active and no longer need radio to fill arenas. However, I could give you an era where each of these artists dominated radio stations. In other words, at some point in their career, radio was essential at getting their music "out there." Radio, or whatever the form of mass media is at the time, is necessary to build developing artists. Two good examples given by Megacity are The Killers and Coldplay. These bands are huge because modern rock and contemporary radio plays them constantly. As such, they are able to reach a broad spectrum of listeners. The problem, in my opinion, is that you don't see very many new artists being developed so that they can compete for the title of biggest band in the world. There is nothing wrong with underground or cult bands, but I like it when the best artists are able to achieve large scale success.

Ski Playlist?
Is a ski playlist suppose to make you go faster or slower? When I go for a run, I want my music to be upbeat so that I am able to go faster. However, if I went faster while I was skiing, I would just end up getting hurt.

How much money have you spent on Coldplay?
I like too many bands to get caught up in the souvenirs and trinkets. Not that I don't appreciate them, it's just that I would go broke in the process. Mostly just concerts and CDs. The money doesn't really bother me because, if I wasn't spending it on music, which is my favorite hobby, I would probably blow it on something else. That's what discretionary spending is all about. I am just thankful that I have been able to sprinkle my purchases over the years. I would have a heart attack if I was hit with a cumulative bill.

I have a feeling the new u2 album > Viva La Vida
Man, there are so many arguments that I respect: 1. I like Coldplay better than U2 2. I like U2 better than Coldplay 3. I only like U2. 4. I only like Coldplay 5. I dislike U2 6. I dislike Coldplay What drives me nuts are the following: 1. I like U2, therefore, I am against Coldplay 2. I like Coldplay, therefore, I am against U2 No one says you have to choose. Personally, I like U2 better than Coldplay, but I am still a die hard Coldplay fan. I want both bands to do well. PERIOD.

AC/DC, Coldplay, Guess Who Voted Nicest Autograph Givers
1. I have met pretty much every big name in music. 2. It's probably better to P.M. me if you have any particular questions. Not everyone loves these stories and some of them are far from flattering. I jumped in on this one b/c it was about experiences with Coldplay, and I have had several.

The best song of 2008 (except the Coldplay's ones)
^ That may be some of it. Most of it, I believe, is that it takes young bands time to develop a stage presence and perfect their craft. I have been watching a band like the Killers since the early Hot Fuss days. They have always been good live, but I saw them recently and they were light years ahead of the early days, and this is only in a matter of 5 years. Bottom Line: It takes time to develop young artists. I wish radio and record labels would recognize this fact.

Feel how you want. I think U2 is fucking awesome. I never feel the need to choose between U2 and Coldplay.
