  1. Oh, man, I wished they opened for U2 in Florida too! But we'll probably get the lame Black Eyed Peas :dozey:
  2. Milica, nice pics! I love mountains! But the highest peak in Florida is 150 meters or something, people here have to go to Georgia or North Carolina to see mountains
  3. (posted in the early morning) SO funny, Joey said on an earlier post that he was going to get drunk, and as you can see, he totally did :laugh3: I'm going to check it out!
  4. ^Cool! but I almost thought you were in college, Makayla :P I'm doing an intership for which I get college credit. I agree that's it's better than taking a class, specially when you're pretty much done with your required classes.
  5. Are tickets sold out for this one? Only LA, AL, and northwest FL residents could buy tickets. I wonder if I can be sold one at the box office if I travel there?
  6. Oh sh*t! I need to go to bed! Gotta get up early tomorrow! Bye Erick and Liz!
  7. Oh, I understand. ;) I can;t complain about my time at USF, I doubt I would be the person I am or having the plans I have for my future if I had not come here. Oh, and that I'll be graduate with very little debt thanks to the scholarship  Aren't you a California boy? I know, the state (and Tampa specially) are pretty humid, it's yucky. The only thing I hate about Florida, really. No good for my hair :P Nicaragua? :laugh3:
  8. Oh, ok. I was kinda confused on how the UC system works. Anyway, I think I should convince everyone to move to Florida :laugh3:
  9. I know, me too! :bigcry: I was accepted and all, but decided to go to USF because I got two scholarships. Sometimes, I feel envious of my sister cuz she is having a blast a UF (in a healthy way since she lives on-campus, and now she's an RA). Academically, it's more rigorous (some end up dropping out or majoring in something "easier", or transfer to USF), but they have wider options (like East Asian Studies or Portuguese majors) Since she started there, they have won 2 National Championships in football, and 2 in basketball, like Gator pride is waaaay high (not to mention that Tim Tebow is soooooo dreamy :wideeyed:) Oh, and the campus activities, they always have cool people coming to campus. Zach Braff was there 3 weeks ago (sister had class though), and Demetri Martin is going on April 14 I'm like, "dang it, Laura, why your school is cooler than mine?" But you could transfer, they take transfer students. Let's see, the freshman class is 6,000 people, so 4,000 transfers are accepted each year. They say they prefer people who are going to be juniors.
  10. oh, yeah, UC has that combined application thing. Get accepted, you go to whichever one you want. Right? I say you should have applied to Florida  The legislature wants to raise tuition, but it would be cheaper than Cali or most states. Oh, and one of my friends is captain of the fencing team at my uni  They travel for tournaments and everything
  11. Oh, Sorry about that! I would have messaged you if I had known you! I remember when I had surgery on December of 2007. I was 3 weeks in bed.
  12. what's wrong with UCLA or UCSD that they rejected you? :stunned: Seriously, you would have been accepted to UF (Uni of Florida) easily. Ok, UF has like a 50% acceptance rate, but it ends up rejecting a lot of people because a tons of people apply. They had 28,000 applications last year :stunned: EDIT: that amount drove the acceptance rate down to 38% (10,000 out of 28,000) My sister goes there, and she loves it. Oh, and the fact that they are National Champs in football. *thinks of Tim Tebow* :wideeyed:
  13. I went to the website, it reminds me of Panera. *thinks about the tomato soup at Panera* :P Oh, I should go to see the AU website right now... I want to go to Philly too! See the LOVE sculpture, the Bell, eat a cheesesteak.
  14. That's actually a smart move since comm colleges are waaaayy cheaper. Just make sure you do well, and get invoved in extracurricular (not too many, quality is better than quantity) that helps you figure out what you want do, and you'll be able to transfer into the UC system with no problem :)
  15. Oh, I'm sorry about that. UCSD has the Graduate School of International Relations and Pacific Studies. One of the degree programs is on International Trade, which is what I want to specialize in, and they focus on languages :wideeyed: Oh, man, I'm really gonna have to finish my undergrad Honors thesis, try to secure a job that's International-related, and study for the GRE :stunned: Yeah, most of the schools I'm interested in are in DC. I have a friend who I met at my university, and now she's about to finish her master's in International Security (or something like that) at GWU.
  16. :laugh3: Ok, so long story short: I'm from Venezuela, but the official passport has been changed 3 times since my family and I moved 5 years ago, which means our blue passport is OLD. My dad is traveling abroad as part of his new job, so he needed to get a new one soon because it was expiring in July. He flew today to New Orleans, and got a new one at the consulate there  My mom tells me this when I came back from campus at 9ish pm, and she tells me I should go to New Orleans one of these days to get a new passport, and I reply: "yeah, when Coldplay plays there" And she looks at me puzzled :stunned: :laugh3:
  17. Hey Lauren! I just wrote about grad school, and UT being among my possible picks
  18. Oh, I didn't know which ones were your postcars. Cool! Those colleges are good choices. But I'm a recent immigrant, so I had to settle for the local big public university. I guess I'll upgrade for grad school since I'm hopefully will graduating debt-free, so I can get into debt for my master's. For private schools, I'm thinking Georgetown, GWU (they have this Master in International Trade and Policy), Tufts (the Fletcher School), American University, Duke, or London School of Economics. John Hopkins is the best, in my opinion, but it's so hard to get into their School of Advanced International Studies. Public schools, I am considering University of Florida (my sister is an undergrad there), University of Texas (Julie and Lauren were posted here that they want to go there), or University of California-SanDiego ALL these schools have exceptional International Affairs programs. Oh well, I have to have work experience before even thinking of applying to these master's programs.
  19. NO FRIGGIN WAY!!!!! OH MY GOSH, I HOPE THEY OPEN FOR U2 IN TAMPA TOO. BUT I HAVE THE WORSE LUCK :bigcry:
  20. Hello everyone! It's time for... multi-quote! :D I hate that my spring break is over, and I have an Economics test next week. I really have to study, the class is hard :\ Cool stuff! Julie, start saving for UT. Oh, and do well in school, take Honors and AP classes. Extracurriculars should be stuff that you like and enjoy. Volunteer! (dang it, I can help giving advice :P) :laugh3: With adding blue to pink, we'll have lilac  Woo hoo! that's like working at Busch Gardens Africa in Tampa. Feel the love !!!! Listen to the music of the moment, people dance and sing, we're just one big family, and it's our God-forsaken right to be loved, loved, loved, loooooved... :) well, Debs Wild has posted in here. Last time she did, she quoted me on her reply I felt so important :D They're probably here, among us :stunned: Seriously, I wished they at least read the complains people have posted on the concerts threas about the ticketing system and how hard it is to get close seats :\ I say Lauren and Brenda meet up  Yeah, lots of new people, and a lot of posted since I left for class at 6pm. 15 pages!?? Zoe, what colleges have you visited?
  21. ^Me! I just applied to volunteer with Oxfam at this venue. Worst-case scenario: I'll show up and buy a tix the day of the concert. Oh, and JustSpies84 (she has posted on the Tampa thread) says she wants to go to both as well.
  22. Yeah, it worked for me as well when I bought tickets for the Tampa concert. I tried for an hour until I got a ticket on a section that nobody was being offered,
