Why? They used to be rock, now they're pop. They use to be endearingly self-depricating, now it just seems insincere. Chris used to hang out with Tim from Ash, now it's Jay-Z. Guy used to be a raging alcohol diva, now he just takes photos. It used to go "I'm gonna buy a gun and start a war, if you can tell me something worth fighting for", now it goes "those who are dead are not dead, they're just living in my head." They used to wear pants and a t-shirt, now they wear costumes. Jonny used to have his amazing slide solos, now he gets nothing. Chris used to idolize Radiohead, now he idolizes Beyonce. Chris used to be able to hit all the notes, now he just dances. Add on to the list you guys.

Honestly, I think one of the things I like least about VLV is the lyrics. I mean, apparently they're the most developed or whatever. But personally, I just miss the sort of sincerity, emotion, and just you know personal touch to the lyrics. Like in Parachutes, AROBTTH, and even X&Y. But I've always been huge on lyrics, so maybe that's why. I loved Violet Hill when it came out cause I loved how it was kind of political and about war or whatever but it also tied in the personal, emotional aspects with the "if you love me" bit. On VLV, they only songs that really do it for my lyrically are Strawberry Swing, Violet Hill, and maybe Death And All His Friends. VLV is actually pretty good in the verses too. What am I trying to say? I dunno, maybe I'm a sappy ass and want more love songs. I don't think so though. I just want the emotional lyrics Coldplay is known for. Even, you know, Swallowed In The Sea... the lyrics aren't profound my any stretch, people might say they're simple. But they're heartfelt and that what matters. Even Fix You, people think it's cheese, but I appreciate the simplicity cause it's meaningful.
