= Coldplay Record/CD Collectors' Thread =
Hey guys. I collect Coldplay promos and mainly post on Reddit about them. You can see the last thread and my collection here: Mobile Link: https://www.reddit.com/r/Coldplay/comments/52g076/coldplay_promo_collection_and_more/ I believe I may have just tracked down one of the rarest of recent times... I've got hold of an Up In Flames promo! Will post an update to Reddit when it arrives :)

[9-Dec-2011] Coldplay @ O2 Arena, London, UK
Hey All! Good to be back and great to see some of you last night (although you'll not likely know it was me!) Also good to see my setlist and hands making an appearance on the homepage ;) Have I got a treat for you! I've had a quick look over some of my videos and WOW! I'll be posting a FULL review (seriously, it's gonna be long and detailed!) later today along with some videos and a few pics. On reviewing what footage I have I think I probably have enough for a mini-experience video (something I do enjoy cutting together). Might take a week or 2 but keep your eyes peeled for that soon. Back later ;)

"Hurts Like Heaven" Lyrics
Just listened back, now I'm not so sure on what it is! Ahhh >.<

"Hurts Like Heaven" Lyrics
Ok, iTunes Festival made it so obvious! Chris sang it nice and clearly for this one and, despite variations in performances, I'd say we would have to go with this until the studio version appears... On every street, every car, every surface are names And at the streets arise, we'll be writing the same

"Hurts Like Heaven" Lyrics
Hasn't been mentioned before but perfectly viable. Only problem is I can't hear this in t in the park or glasto version. Also, while not exactly rare for coldplay, you'd lose the rhyme... Can anyone else hear this version?

"Hurts Like Heaven" Lyrics
Hi All I've been listening to the Glastonbury version again and again to try and solve a few more of these lyrical conundrums. I've also now heard the T in the Park version too which solved some of my other questions! I think we are near a final version but to be honest this can never really be a final version until the studio version is released. Chris is known for chopping and changing lyrics to suit, to just keep it fresh or simply because he feels like singing something else (Fix You is a great example where the live lyrics are almost permanently different on one line when live) and the lyrics have definitely been fiddled with since the Rock am Ring show when I first heard it. These lyrics are wholly based on the Glasto and T in the Park versions simply because there are excellent audio versions AND great HD video too... The first verse after the chorus is the tricky one we're all struggling on. At Glasto I'm certain he sings '...every surface are sayings' but at T in the Park it's clearly 'names'. Based on the clarity, I'm sticking with 'names'. He also adds the 'I' at the start of "See the arrow they shot...". It's not on the boards (see page 3) but makes more sense! Finally, first verse after chorus, second line. This is a real tricky one. I would be more sold on "And at the streets are rising, we're writing the same" but I want to know what you all think first. Remember, this is purely on the Glasto performance but I did hear this in others (T in the Park especially). Have left as is for now just incase... For now, I would be happy to say these are the lyrics, certainly for live versions... ==================== Coldplay - Hurts Like Heaven Lyrics from Glastonbury Festival 2011/T in the Park 2011 ==================== Written in graffiti on a bridge in a park 'Do you ever get the feeling that you're missing the mark?' It's so cold, it's so cold It's so cold, it's so cold Written up in marker on a factory sign 'I struggle with the feeling that my life isn't mine' It's so cold, it's so cold It's so cold, it's so cold I see the arrow they shot, trying to tear us apart Fire from my belly and the beat from my heart Still I won't let go Still I won't let go of you Ooohooh 'Cause you do Oh you, use your heart as a weapon And it hurts like heaven On every street, every car, every surface are names And at the streets arise, we'll be writing the same Don't let them take control No we won't let them take control Yes I feel a little bit nervous Yes I feel nervous and I cannot relax How come they're out to get us? How come they're out when they don't know the facts So on a concrete canvas under cover of dark Concrete canvas I go making my mark Armed with the spray can soul I'll be armed with the spray can soul You Ooohooh Oh you Ooohooh Because you use your heart as a weapon And it hurts like heaven Woho-ooh Woho-oooh It's true When you use your heart as a weapon And it hurts like heaven

This was confirmed on previous page and agreed to. Will put up a new revised final draft of lyrics later (on iPad atm!) The problem with live lyrics is they're easily changed or slightly altered during each performance so it makes it hard to get a definitive list together, but I think we're just about there on this one!

"Hurts Like Heaven" Lyrics
I would agree with these as official lyrics for now except I'd remove the 'it' parts from How come it they're out to get us? How come it they're out when they don't know the facts

I just put through a question correcting the wise one with a link to my original post with the screenshot!

"Hurts Like Heaven" Lyrics
It's definitely beat. Have a look at these two comparisons... We know for certain that the line starts 'Fire from my belly..." and whoever wrote it has a very distinguishable 'b' in the sense that it looks similar to a 'k' written in a joined handwriting way. That same 'b' is present in the word that would be 'beat'. On another note, although he doesn't sing it in the Rock am Ring version, I now believe in the official lyrics the line starts 'Like the fire from my belly...' (see the extra words at the start on the left). Secondly, if you look at the blue circle, I no longer think the first line of the third verse is 'See the arrow that they shot...' but instead just 'See the arrow they shot'. There's no 'that' written...

"Hurts Like Heaven" Lyrics
Hey all, A couple of minor changes to the lyrics based on what I've heard... (in bold) Hurts Like Heaven (uncompleted) Written in graffiti on a bridge in a park 'Do you ever get the feeling that you're missing the mark?' It's so cold it's so cold It's so cold it's so cold Written up in marker on a factory sign 'I struggle with the feeling that my life isn't mine' It's so cold it's so cold It's so cold it's so cold See the arrow that they shot, trying to tear us apart Fire from my belly and the beat from my heart Still I won't let go Still I won't let go of Youuuuu Ooooo you - (he did not finished that) Oh you use your heart as a Weapon, and it hurts like Heaven Streets and Bars and a Pavement of Saints, and at the Streets are rising and you'd rather sing, don't let em take control, No we wont let em take control Yes, i feel a little bit nervous, Yes i feel nervous and i cannot relax, i'm coming round to get us i'm coming round when they don't know the facts, so on concrete canvas and a glow in the dark, concrete canvas, i'm a "making a mark", armed with the spray can soul i am down with the spray can soul with youuuu *I originally said I was 95% sure this was 'spray and soul' but having cleaned up the sound I'm more swayed towards spray can as I think I can hear the 'C' mid sentence... Oooooo.. oh Youuu Oooooo.. Yes you, you use your Heart as a Weapon, and it hurts like Heaven woooh woooh Its true, when you, use your Heart as a Weapon, it hurts like Heaven.
