  1. I just sent a question to the Oracle for the first time ever. I don't know why, but for some reason, I feel like getting really involved into Coldplay right now. Hopefully, the other Loungers/WoMers won't judge me. :uhoh:
  2. ^ Yeah, it's a bit wordy. I totally get what you mean, though.
  3. In your first statement, did you mean "conceited?" It seems to make more sense than what you typed, which is a different word completely. Anyway, going off what you said, I'm sure that here in the US, you could even go further and talk about how this applies to states. The slogan here in my state is that "everything's bigger and better in Texas." Bigger doesn't always mean better, and even if it did, I don't think that's the case here. In the bigger cities (e.g. Dallas, Houston), people are more apt to be open-minded about things, but I live in a small East Texas town right in the middle of the Bible belt, and there are times when that gets REALLY irritating. There are too many people here who are close-minded. In fact, I'm sure Texas is a place where your comments apply. I wouldn't be surprised if you were talking about us. HAHA.
  4. I'm listening to "Calgary" for the first time. The beginning. I can't even. :bomb:  I like it a lot. I think it'd be a helluva lot better, though, if it weren't for that latter section. (2:28-3:24) There's something in there (Is it electric guitar or harsh synths?) that doesn't sound right and should be removed.
  5. Yeah, I understood the original intention. I just thought it was cool that there could be multiple interpretations. Arrogance is one of two things I really hate in people, though, so even if that were true, I don't think my opinion of him would change very much. I had to Google who you were talking about. WUT TEH FCK. How'd he hook up with THAT? :stunned: And she's barely legal? Geez.
  6. I think you can, to an extent. I think you can judge in the sense that if you listen to a mastered live recording and you think they don't sound very good, you know they're not going to sound good unmastered. As far as determining whether they're good live or not, you'd have to either see them live or at least find an unmastered recording on YouTube (e.g. videos from festivals, etc.)
  7. It's not, though. It's not on mine. The Antlers

  10. Ohhh, you can put those in this thread, too? In that case, I'd definitely put Kanye West in here. He's a douchebag, but the music he produces is quite catchy.
  11. I should have clarified. What I meant was that they should sound similar enough...wait, no... ARGH. OK, lemme use an example. I love White Lies. Their debut in particular is fantastic. However, upon listening to a live recording of "Bigger Than Us" on YouTube, I was severely disappointed because Harry (the vocalist) sounded pitchy. I think that's what I mean, is that the band shouldn't necessarily do the same thing. I just expect the vocalist to sound just as good. Sorry about that. For some reason, I thought my previous wording was sufficient.
  12. I'm really picky about live music in general, so if I'm even going to listen to live stuff, it has to be by someone who to me sounds the same as they do on a studio album. Other than that, though, I don't have any real issues, and when executed properly, live music (and with it, live albums) is fabulous.
