  1. I love this parody so much. [ame= ] [/ame]
  2. That dress. :dead: It makes her look so good. :wacky: I had to YouTube what you were talking about, but I agree with you. I definitely get similar vibes on both tracks.

I love YouTube. [ame= ] [/ame] Even as an Owl City fan, I couldn't help but laugh at this.
  4. Wow, that haircut really didn't do too much for him, did it? /not really relevant, but whatever.
  5. Gosh, she's beautiful.
  6. That second one was my favorite. It's all quite good, though. God, that WOOOEHHH part is incredibly annoying.

I remember once writing a note on Facebook going in-depth into all the discrepancies present in Genesis, and the only answer I got was, "You're using logic to explain something that's not logical." LOL On the topic about religious zealots: I had two of my closest friends have a literal "come to Jesus" meeting with me. I got so mand that they would talk to me about that as opposed to accepting me for who I am that I stormed out of the room and walked around campus for a good 45 minutes. After this happened, I found another close friend of mine (not involved), and he sat there and listened to me for an hour about all that I had on my mind as far as religion went. He did what I hoped my other friends would do and listen to me. Because he invited me, and because I was questioning myself at that point, I went to his church with him. During the sermon there, I got the best, yet worst explanation of why God loved Abel's offerings so much more than Cain's. The person preaching that night (I don't remember his name.) said that it was because Cain had the wrong attitude as far as giving his best to God. It was the best explanation because it was an explanation that actually made sense. However, it was the worst explanation because nowhere in that book does it say that Cain was a lazy bum who didn't give his best to God. The guy totally made it up. Ever since then, I've put a lot of thought into where my views as far as religion go. I have a lot of questions, most of which remain unanswered. It's clear, however, that religious texts are severely flawed. I really don't know where I was going with this. I just thought I'd share because this conversation reminded me of this.
  8. This is slightly off-topic, but I noticed your avi, and Liam is quite adorable.
  9. Yeah, it is, and while my mom doesn't have it nearly as bad as she used to (given how grown we are...I turn 21 next month, and my brothers are 19 and 17 respectively, with the older of them away at college), she still has a lot of stuff she has to deal with. Just the sheer fact that my mother has had to deal with this madness for almost 32 years now saddens me.
  10. Well, see, that's not the case at my house. My parents run a small business together. My dad goes out and does the manual labor while my mom does all the logistics at home. (e.g. take calls from customers, paperwork, etc.) My dad knows that we as a famliy unit are entirely dependent on what he does, and I sometimes feel as if he takes advantage of that. Sometimes, when I get frustrated because he tells me in the most unreasonable manner to do something for him (like the other day, he wanted me to get him another Dr. Pepper, even though his glass was still half full from the first one I poured him), I get called selfish because I "won't help out my old man" and he talks about all this stuff he does for me. While I understand what he does for us, that doesn't give him the right to treat everyone else in the house (especially the women) like garbage. It's not as if Mom doesn't do anything. No. She fills out paperwork, takes calls, cleans the house, cooks food, washes clothes, runs errands...she does all of that and more. The least my dad can do is not treat my mother like she's a slave.
  11. OMG. That's my dad and how he treats me and my mom. At least, that's a part of it. I'm not even joking. I hate it. My mom especially takes a lot of crap from him.
  12. ""Undisclosed Desires" rockers?" Seriously? :dozey:
  13. I'm glad there are men who actually serve as advocates for women's rights. That gives me hope in humanity. Around where I live, it's disgusting at times to see how some people live with the mindset that women are inferior. Sure, people joke about how "woman's place is in the kitchen," but there are people who seriously believe that. I would know because my dad is one of them. :|
  14. OMG. Moron. Did he end up being OK, though? I mean, that causes a lot of health issues, and it would be most unfortunate if he ended up dying from something like that.
  15. You Midwestern people, you.

No, especially since studies prove that children involved in the fine arts do better in school. My professor mentioned during that reading session how a lot of districts are actually counting test scores, not as the main component, but the only component on how successful a teacher is. See, even in the case that there is a fine arts program in your school, if your ensemble doesn't perform up to standard during UIL contest or whatever, you're done. It's ridiculous.

THIS. I don't mean to get off-topic here, but this morning, at the beginning of conducting class, my professor (who also happens to be my band director) informed us all of how severe these job losses are by reading us a couple of articles. One of the articles talked about the problems in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. It's scary. I'm a music education major. For us, it's particularly bad. Why? We're part of the fine arts, and you know as well as I do that school districts aren't nearly as concerned with the "extracurricular" stuff as they are test scores. I'm sincerely afraid that I won't be able to find a job upon graduation. Teachers everywhere are getting laid off because schools are trying to cut back on their budget. It's not pretty. Again, I'm sorry to go off-topic. It's just that given where I'm at right now, that issue is extremely important to me.
  18. Has anyone here heard about the "TKoL Part 2" conspiracy theory? http://thekingoflimbspart2.com/
  19. -reads article- :freak: Wait, this is in Georgia? Holy crap. In cases like this, it shouldn't matter how pro-life or pro-choice you are. This is utterly and completely wrong. Just when I think I've found enough sick people in the world, I come across something like this. Jen Philips is right. He clearly doesn't give a damn about the women involved. God, this makes me mad.

    OMG, NO WAY. :surprised:
  21. ^ Actually, on the Muse forum, they let fans ask them questions, and as a response to a question concerning Chris doing lead vocals on a song, Matt said, "Yeah, sure, we're up for that."
  22. I have to disagree with what you're saying. I think a lot of that has to do with how different people hear things differently.

^ "Suddenly, my eyes are open. Everything comes into focus." /Hurts reference.
