haha...go read Raymond E. Feist's Magician books too! he's like the godfather of the fantasy genre (aside from Tolkien) & i'm really hoping somebody gets round to making those 2 books or perhaps his Empire trilogy books into a series/movie like Game Of Thrones or LotR. actually, you might like the Empire trilogy more. there's more politics going on in those books than Magician, which is more about 2 servant boys coming of age and their (quite amazing) destinies. have been hankering for Gary to write about a movie/series he's perhaps been watching recently. am really happy he happened to post about Game Of Thrones of all shows! btw, i'm hating the Lannisters more & more...aside from the dwarf one. :p oh...& he seems to have moved on from animals to food items...golden burrito of deliciousness! *lol*

ah, trust good ol' Gary to have a knack of posting something on Tumblr that'll cheer me up at the right time! :D was still reeling from yesterday's heartbreak when i saw his post this morning...lovely picture of the sea & sunshine + the news of a deluxe edition of the next album which he swears "we’ll put so much awesome stuff in there it’ll make it deluxe". awesomeness!

WE'VE FOUND THE BAKERY!! *NOW WITH PHOTOGRAPHIC PROOF* UPDATED FIRST POST!*
pretty off topic, i think, but... Buff Monster!!! saw his work before...very...errrmmm...pink & cutesy. but i can imagine his stuff fitting in with something upbeat like Strawberry Swing. & that bird graffiti that's on the cover. i've seen it before somewhere online...i just can't really remember if they're somewhere around London (more likely) or somewhere in Europe (if they aren't in London). they're a series of massive graffiti works that are all of mangy looking animals. rats, crows, rabbits... ...off-topic mode: off. :P

awww...poor wooden frog. banished outside for a cheeky comment about Gary's arse. :P they're quite common around Asia tho...with the general idea being that they "croak" when you rub its back with the wooden baton thing. tho i'd never think to use that sound in a rock song! haha :D

i do wonder if he was drunk when he posted that one about the coffee + tequila coffee liquor...tho now i'm quite fancying that myself (it's gotten unexpectedly cold here). :P & i didn't realise he posted another one! he's on a roll this week! :D EDIT: watched it! frigging brilliant choice of song by the man! ...& btw, cos it's April Fool's Day today, you can watch his video in 1911-mode. ...& oh dear! i laughed so hard! YouTube thinks he posted a song by the Pilates Music Ensemble!!! *rotfl...still* :laugh3:

Biffy Clyro
yes! totally agree! :D & Anna, you're an angel for putting those d/ls up! the Biffy photo is apparently part of a music & food artwork exhibition at the RAH. they got singers/bands to pose with food so there's all kinds of photos of others like Franz Ferdinand & Noel Gallagher (his is really English! Yorkshire tea bags spilling out of a guitar case!) posing with meat pies, a pasta dish, marmite toast...really adorkable stuff! pity you can only see the photos when you're inside the RAH's corridors.

Hello Malaysia!
have your iPod with you to try & drown him out... :P but well done to you for helping out with the orphanage kids. :)

Biffy Clyro
something i managed to take a photo of inside the RAH... ...when i went back again on Saturday for the Editors gig, i noticed that this photo has since been signed by the guys! :D (if you really must know, the guys are posing with haggis, tatties & some other Scottish food item that i can't remember the name of now...yum! :P)

Hello Malaysia!

i liked the song! it's got a rather "getho" sound tho...did i even spell that right??? :dozey: but i have to admit that he does have some pretty far out tastes in music outside of the guitar music genre that i sometimes find myself struggling to get into... :P

Glee
as much as i love Glee, i think Dave Grohl had a very valid point...even if his point was rather expletive laden. as fantastic as Glee is, the creator seems to be getting all egotistic about his show's popularity lately by getting all upset & making it very publicly known when a band/artist turns down being featured/covered on the show (i.e. Kings of Leon). Glee's popular, but it isn't everyone's cup of tea & it's perfectly in the band/artist's right to not want their song(s) covered on the show. not all the covers/mashups they do on the show are great anyway...there have been some major misses.

Biffy Clyro
maybe cos his answers were all the same as James? ;p (yeah, pretty lame...i know) anyway, here's my mini review of their Teenage Cancer Trust gig: the guys were awesome! & the party's definitely in the Standing Arena area!   but i didn't have much of a choice this time since i was rushing over from work & was running late (on top of having forgotten my camera). so the Stall seat option worked out as the best option for me this time. the atmosphere's pretty lacking in the Stall seats (comparing with my experience in the Standing area for their Bristol gig last year). depends a lot on the crowd around you in the RAH & i'm guessing there's a lot of corporate tickets for a charity event like Teenage Cancer Trust...so it was majorly annoying that my section was filled with people who just did not want to stand at all for most of the gig. :dozey: there was even 1 guy who actually got pissed at a girl for getting up to dance & made her sit back down! WTF! but it appeared to me like the guy's partner felt bad about his behaviour since she was up & dancing too beside him & i saw her grab the other girl encouraging her to stay up. eventually she abandoned the guy to go enjoy the gig standing & dancing around with that girl while he sat down for the entire gig very clearly sulking away! serves him right...party pooper! :P & i am fairly sure i stuck out like a sore thumb being an Asian girl & the only one yelling out "Mon The Biff!" in my section. took a few shouts before 1 or 2 guys took to shouting it too at the break before their encore...jeez!!! :inquisitive: my sis, on the other hand, lucked out. i had a good front view where i was, but she got Simon's side with the Stall ticket/seat i managed to get for her on short notice & he kept climbing the speakers/containers to face the crowd at the sides during their set. have to bug her before she leaves to see if she's got any good shots of him...tho she was complaining that cos he's in his long hair phase now, almost all her photos were of his sweat soaked hair rather than his face! :laugh3: but at least she enjoyed Biffy Clyro's performance (she'd never heard any of their songs beyond The Captain, Mountains & "that song that the X-Factor guy covered" before that night). she thinks it's partly cos they have a similar sound to the Foo Fighters. :smug:

Party Ben!!! :D first heard that particular Party Ben mashup on a Singapore radio station, actually. my sis & i were like "oooh! The Police! haven't heard this song in ages!" then when Gary's voice kicks in we were like "eh??? Chasing Cars???"...were totally expecting it to not really work, but it does. & it sounds good, imo. :) anyway, if you go to Party Ben's website, you can d/l this mashup in mp3 format & he also did an interview about his mashup being used in the movie. see the 21st Feb blog entry at http://www.partyben.com/ i remember he also has a radio clip where an Irish DJ tries to get a reaction from Nathan about the mashup...& he didn't sound all too impressed/pleased with it. oops. :dozey: http://www.partyben.com/20070706.html

*lol* WTH was Jonny up to there?!? & if that's gaffer tape on his head, i can't imagine how much hair & how painful it was when it was ripped off... :P (boys will be boys, eh?) & Gary's jersey! i have one similar to it! haha

2011 Oscar Noms!
my fave from 2010 was without a doubt Inception. but i did like The Social Network enough to get the 2-disc DVD along with the Inception one. :)

2011 Oscar Noms!
TSN (imo) is quite a good movie in terms of the narrative & flow of the story. it had my attention from start to finish. i definitely think of it as a sort of modern day sequel to Pirates Of Silicon Valley. my only gripe with it is that there are some factual inaccuracies about Mark Zuckerberg & the whole "Napster, Facebook came about because the geek was jilted by an ex" thing...& the OTT glamourisation of tech startups, web developers. but i guess the scriptwriters had to spice up the story because coding programs, websites is hardly grippingly exciting stuff. :P oh, & i quite liked Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross' work for the movie's soundtrack. well deserved Oscar for that. :)

loved the movie...very funny (in a very geeky way). :D

Linkin Park
haha...yeah, i did. again. & i really think that Linkin Park started to mellow down cos Chester isn't going to last long screaming away in every album/tour. haha :P
-
Linkin Park
looks like Chester's not getting any better... :( (must be from all that screaming for the earlier songs... :P) on another note, the band contributed this (sorta) online mixtape of their "Favorite Indie Songs Right Now" on MOG. nice selection, guys! :) @bee_panda: Mew's in the list leh! ;)

Nathan is the most Star Wars & Vader obsessed one in the band, but Pablo collects Star Wars figurines too (his own words back in Bristol) & among the guys, Tom reckons Jonny's the "Darth Vader" of the band. so that kite being Jonny's makes sense, actually. wonder if that kite's used for kite surfing since they're by the beach...or just plain kiting? great to hear the album's coming along nicely. tho i'm going to try my best not to get my hopes up way too high, lest i be sorely disappointed when the time comes.

Tired Pony
*lol* you can see who took the effort to comb his hair for the interview...& who didn't. :P but he's adorkable that way... :wacky:
