I don't even know why I made this thread and I certainly couldn't think of what to call it, nobody will care here anyway, I just wanted to share this.
I am not sure any of you will be aware of him (I will admit I only found out about him last week) so I will give you a little bit of background before I just blast right into some quotes I read that I thought were brilliant and summed up just how silly Christianity is, even in comparison to other religions.
Srila Prabhupada is basically the founder of the "Hare Krishna Movement", again I'm not sure how much people will know about the religion other than their famous chanting, but it would take too long to really explain that so I'll focus on Srila Prabhupada. He has an extensive back catalogue of books and lectures on varying topics, albeit mainly around Krishna and Philosopphy. I happened upon one of his books by chance at Leeds festival this year, I put on my sceptical hat and started to read the book named "Perfect Questions, Perfect Answers" half of that title is right. The answers are so eloquently worded and cover anything you could even think to ask as a back up question. The Questions however are frustrating, they ask the questions I didn't want to ask and it leaves me frustrated that some of the things I would have asked will remain unanswered.
It is basically about a man named Bob Cohen who was a Peace Corps worker in India, he got interested in Krishna while over there and fortunately got a chance to sit and discuss the religion with Srila Prabhupada. It covers a variety of areas within the religion (it feels wrong calling it that, because at times it's just pretty philosophy) I wont go on and on about it, the area I wanted to share with people (as mentioned above) were his feelings on Christianity. For these quotes to make sense you need a tiny bit of backtracking on the topic that was being discussed as if I just quoted the bits about jesus it wouldn't make sense:
-----------------
Srila Prabhupada: Krishna says "I will deliver you from all sinful reaction. Do not fear." Krishna is so powerful that He can take up all the sins of others and immediately make them right. But when a living entitiy acts on behalf of Krishna [i will state, this is in reference to gurus who are said to take on the responsibility of Krishna], he also takes the responsibility for the sinful activities of his devotees. Therefore to become a guru is not an easy task. He has to take all the poisons and absorb them. So somtimes, because he is not Krishna, there is some trouble. Therefore it is told "Don't make many disciples." But for preaching work, to expand the preaching, we have to accept many disciples, even if we suffer. The spiritual master has to take responsibility for all the sinful activities of his disciples. Therefore to make many disciples is a risky job ubless one is able to assimilate the sins.
"I offer my respectful obeisances unto all the Vaisnava devotees of the Lord. Just like desire trees, they can fulfill the desires of everyone and they are full of compassion for the falled conditions souls." The spiritual master takes responsibility for the fallen souls. That idea is also in the Bible. Jesus Christ took all the sinful reactions of the people and sacrificed his life. That is the responsibility of a spiritual master. Because Krishna is Krishna, he cannot be attacked by sinful reactions. But a living entity is somtimes subjected to their influence because he is so small. Big fire, small fire; If you put some big thing in a small fire, the fire itself may be extinguished. But in a big fire, whatever you put in is burned up. The big fire can consume anything.
Bob: Christ's suffering was of that nature?
Srila Prabhupada: He took the sinful reactions of all the people. Therefore he suffered. In the bible it is said that he took all the sinful reactions of the people and sacrificed his life. But these Christian people have made it a law for Christ to suffer while they do all nonsense. Such great fools they are! They have let Jesus Christ make a contract for taking all their sinful reactions so they can go on with all nonsense. That is their religion. Christ was so magnanimous that he took all their sins and suffered, but that does not induce them to stop all these sins. They have not come to that sense. They have taken it very easily: 'Let Lord Jesus Christ suffer, and we'll do all nonsense.'
They should have been ashamed: 'Lord Jesus Christ suffered for us, but we are continuoing the sinful activities.' He told everyone, 'Thou shalt not kill.' [referring to killing animals for food, not just murder] but they are indulging in killing, thinking, 'Lord Jesus Christ will excuse us and take all the sinful reactions.' This is going on.
----------------
It goes on about how sin works in Krishna, but it's irrelevant to what I was making this thread for, the next bit is later on in the book when Bob asks this question:
Bob: Some religious people claim that Jesus is guiding them. Can this be so?
Srila Prabhupada: Yes, but they are not taking the guidance. Jesus is guiding the Christians telling them, 'Thou shalt not kill.' But they are killing, so how are they following Jesus' guidance? Simply saying 'I am guided by Jesus Christ, but I don't care for his words' Will that do? Is that guidance? Nobody is being guided by Jesus Christ. Their claim is false. It is very hard to find a man who is actually being guided by Jesus Christ. His guidance is available, but nobody is caring for him. They have taken Christ as a contractor to take up their sins. That is their philosophy. They commit all kinds of sins and poor Jesus Christ will be responsible. That is their religion. Therefore they say ' We have a very good religion. For all our sinful activities, Jesus Christ will die.' Is that good religion? They have no sympathy for Jesus Christ. If they did they would think, 'He died for our sins. Why should we commit sins again? Such a great life has been sacrificed for our sins, so we should be guided by Jesus Christ.' But they take it otherwise: 'Ah, I shall go on commiting sins and Jesus Christ has made a contract to nullify all my sins, I'll simply go to church and confess and come back and again do all nonsense.' Do you think that shows very good intelligence?
Bob: No. [He's a man of many words is Bob.]
Srila Prabhupada: One who is actually guided by Jesus Christ will certainly get liberation. But it is very hard to find a man who is actually being guided by him.
Bob: What about the 'Jesus Freaks,' people who read the Bible very often?
Srila Prabhupada: But violence is against the Bible's injunctions. How can they kill if they are following the Bible?
Bob: They claim the Bible says Jesus ate meat
Srila Prabhupada: That's all right. He may eat anything; he is powerful. But he has ordered 'Thou shalt not kill.' He is powerful, he can eat the whole world, but you cannot compare yourself to Jesus Christ. You cannot imitate him; you have to abide by his order. Then you are guided by Jesus Christ, that is actual obedience. The Bhagavatam explains that one who is in isvara, who is empowered, can do anything, but that we cannot imitate, we have to abide by his order.
Admitting that Jesus ate meat, you do not know under what conditions he ate meat. He advised others not to kill, yet he himself ate meat. Do you think Jesus Christ was contradicting himself?
Bob: No.
Srila Prabhupada: He cannot do that. That is real faith in him, to understand that he cannot do that. So why did he eat meat? He has his reasons why, but he has asked me not to kill. Therefore I cannot imitate him. He has sacrificed his life for God, can you do that? Why imitate Jesus only by eating meat? Why not imitate Jesus by sacrificing your life for spreading God consciousnes? They are so-called Christians, but what are they doing for God? Consider how the sun is absorbing urine. Can you drink urine? If you want to imitate the sun and drink urine, can you? Similarly Jesus is so powerful he can do anything. But we cannot imitate; we have to simply abide his order. That is real Christianity, it is wrong to imitate a powerful man.

Don't get me wrong, I am not converting to Krishna or anything, I just think Srila Prabhupada is a very wise man (in most of what he says anyway, there were a few bits I was not so fond of)
I got this book for free, so it was a bargain, but if you actually got this far and want to read more, look for it online or something, it's a very interesting read, but like I said earlier, frustrating that it leaves you wanting to ask more questions.
