  1. Whee! Great news. Does anyone have a presale code?
  2. I was standing on the left, very close the X stage.
  3. I suppose it depends on where you were standing. I was surrounded by real fans, everyone around me was singing along and jumping and waving from the start. I had a truly fantastic time and agree with the newspaper reviews. I've seen Coldplay 4 times in all (Werchter 2009, Nijmegen, Pinkpop 2011 and for me this was the best show along with Werchter 2009. There are some really high quality videos of the concert on youtube, posted by a user named YankeeWaRRiah.
  4. Got my tickets too. I was getting a little worried (it wouldn't be the first time tickets got lost in the mail). Bring it on!
  5. I got back home late last night after a long day at Pinkpop. I had a wonderful time. I don't think the crowd was bad. If it was a bit more subdued compared to Werchter two years ago, I think it was because of the time. Coldplay was scheduled at 9pm, which is very early. It was still light when they started their set. At Werchter, Rock am Ring, the headliners are on a lot later in the evening and that automatically creates a different atmosphere. There's a longer build-up.

  7. Who will sue next? The producers of the superman films?
  8. I don't think the house looks that big. It's not pompous, it doesn't look like a mansion, it actually looks like a reasonably sized house. Technically, my small apartment has 9 rooms, not counting the corridor. So depending on how you count, you can get to 33 quite easily.
  9. Would almost have been like Rock Werchter then (Just Jack, White Lies, Amy McDonald, Elbow, Bloc Party, The Killers, Coldplay) Thanks for all the reports, pictures and youtube clips. I've enjoyed reading it all. You're all very lucky to have been there.
  10. "today our friend turns 32" (that's the doudidou bit) I love your pictures, BTW.
  11. Thanks for the pictures. So, what spot did you prefer? The front stage or the B-stage one?
  12. You had to get there early to get in the front section. They count the number of people that are in there (for security reasons). Once the section was full, they handed out wrist bands to the people leaving the section, so that they could get back in. From then on, they no longer allowed anyone else in there.
  13. They played green eyes on the C stage. (I was talking to one of the security guards a little, before the show. He was a fan of Coldplay too. He said that he expected tonight to be better than last night as he'd heard them try out different songs during sound check. )
  14. I just got back. I got there pretty early too and was having a few doubts about where to stand: at the front of the stage (about 4th row or so at that stage) or near stage B. I decided on the latter as it seemed the stage was quite high up and I figured I'd get a sore neck. And near stage B, I could lean against the railings. To see Chris up close, it was a brilliant choice. It's just a shame the people around me were like dead fish. None of them were singing. It felt like a rather lame crowd, to be honest. It took some time for the crowd to warm up. Or maybe it's because I'm comparing it to Werchter. I suppose a festival crowd is always more fun. At Werchter, people were singing from the very first note. Whereas here, Chris literally had to tell the crowd to start singing and he went over the words first so that people could sing along - and this was for Yellow! Go figure! I enjoyed the gig, I certainly don't regret going. It was amazing to see Chris so close, to have a clear view of his piano playing. I just wish the people around would have been more interested in the actual gig, rather than taking pictures and videos of it (whilst blocking my view with their digital cameras). The organisation at Nijmegen was quite good though. It's not that easy to get 60.000 out of a place at once. Traffic was going fairly smoothly.
  15. It's got little to do with respect but with the laws of the country. In lots of European countries, you cannot publish pictures of minors without the parents' consent. I think this is only fair.
  17. Thanks for the answers, Raven. I've booked a B&B in the town centre.
  18. You've got some great pictures there. I can even spot myself in one of them (looks like you were standing pretty close to where I was standing for the Coldplay gig). Either you've got a great zoom or you were near the front for about every concert.
  19. I'm also looking for a hotel or hostel for the 10th. How easy is it to reach Goffertpark by car? Is it best to get a hotel away from the town centre and drive down there, or will it be too difficult to park? Is Goffertpark easy to reach by public transport from the town centre?
  20. Somewhat off-topic but still cute: Prince Laurent (youngest son of our king) was also at Werchter on Friday to see Coldplay. Afterwards he tried to help a police van that had gotten stuck.
