The 5th Mixtape Exchange (Tapes In First Post)
Good, I'm really happy you like him. Dunno if you've read my other post commenting on the mixtape review I received, but the compilation cd Vientos Del Pueblo is really, really beautiful. You might like Mercedes Sosa (an Argentinian singer) too, by the way. :nice: This is what the song is about: Um.. If anyone else wants to hear this superbeautiful song (and some other cool music), here's the link to my mix: http://www.mediafire.com/?ljfmnniyyyq (*hint, hint*) Tracklisting: I'd very much appreciate some more comments. :D

Twin Cinema by The New Pornographers is amazing, go listen! Thanks for the tracklist. There is a lot of cool stuff on there I have to check out. I'm definitely gonna get myself some music from The Frames and I might just give old U2 a real chance. :nice: I'm kind of surprised about the Spoon song, btw. I have Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga and Kill The Moonlight and I didn't recognize them! Guess I need to brush up on my Spoon. :freak:

I just want to hear some old songs as well. Never heard any of the SFPB/WIAOWSHTCU songs live. Too bad the reworked version of Olive Grove sucks. :(

I have a ticket for the 31st (couldn't resist the pre-sale :sweatdrop:). If they do a Reworked set, I'll definitely go and if they don't I'm not sure yet. My finals start that week so I'll have to see whether that works out. :nice: And I must say, I'm kind of surprised tickets sold out this fast, so I'm glad the gigs aren't at a bigger venue. It's gonna be my fifth concert in Amsterdam in May. :dozey:

They added an extra date on June first. I might've caved. :wacky: Edit: from SP site PATROL TO PLAY AMSTERDAM SHOW! ** SECOND SHOW ADDED AND BOTH SOLD OUT*** Tickets for the show went on sale at 10am (CET) this morning and sold out within minutes, a second show has since been added but that too sold out with minutes of going on sale. So who got tickets? :D

I still listen to this song almost three years after discovering it. Definitely agree that it's an interesting song! Glad someone else knows this band too, because people laugh at me when I mention their name. :sweatdrop:

Chris Martin's bracelets ?
- COLDPLAYING'S ALBUMS OF THE DECADE! VOTING CLOSED
Wikipedia is your friend. :wacky:- Chris Martin's bracelets ?
... so Chris is a guy, huh?- The 5th Mixtape Exchange (Tapes In First Post)
I don't mind doing another one. Not sure whether I have time tomorrow, but I could probably post a review this weekend.- The 5th Mixtape Exchange (Tapes In First Post)
Review time! Ooh, 21 tracks. Nice! Track 1: This song starts with a really lovely guitar/cello melody. The singer kind of resembles Zach Condon. It's a nice laid back catchy song. I love the guitars that come in the latter half of the song. Track 2: Another really upbeat happy folkish song. I really like the synths, they add a nice touch to the song. I think I know who this is. It's definitely Glen Hansard and.. *grabs cd* probably from the Once OST? I liked that movie. :nice: Track 3: I'm liking this tape so far. This is also a sort of folkish/bluegrass song. The vocals are awesome on this. Especially the latter part is great. Track 4: The guitar sounds kind of familiar. *30 seconds later* CROWDED HOOOOOOUSE! Everywhere you gohohoho, always take the weather with you *sings along* This song is so catchy it's gonna be stuck in my head for days :D Track 5: This is another song with my friend Glen. It's sort of quiet with some badass (albeit quiet) electric guitars in the background. The chorus is beautiful. As we've just had the Once thingie, I think this might be from Glen's other band, The Frames but I wouldn't know because I haven't listened to them.. yet. Ah, the musical part is just :awesome: Track 6: This is an upbeat poppy song by a female singer. It's decent, although the background choir is a bit annoying. Track 7: Another female vocalist. This song is more electronic and has some awesome drums. I like it although the chorus is a bit too much. Track 8: Oh, I know this! It's from Death Cab's latest album. A bit repetitive but the middle part is super amazing (you disappear at the same speed..). Lyrically, the beginning and end are a bit boring, but musically it's awesome. Love the guitars here. Track 9: This guy has a weird voice. This is another electronic track with a really nice beat. The guitar part in the middle is a nice touch but I still don't like the guy's voice. Track 10: Something in this song sounds familiar. Perhaps the structure or the lyrics. Admittedly, the phrase "I thought I knew you" probably occurs in loads of songs. Anyway, it's a cool pop/rock song. Track 11: This song starts with some awesome drums. The song is pretty laid back and the vocalist has a nice voice. I like it. Track 12: I'm loving the guitar melody here! This is a really relaxing song with some sweet lyrics. Track 13: This song is a bit more rocky, which creates a nice contrast with the previous song. It's an okay song, not really special, but definitely not bad either. The vocals are pretty good. Track 14: I already guessed from the posts in the thread that this track would be Jeff Buckley and I was right. This is Last Goodbye. Amazing song and a good choice for the tape. Track 15: Tegan and Sara! Probably a song from their latest record as I don't recognize it. *browses iTunes* I bet it's Hell. :D Track 16: I'm positive that this is U2, but I don't recognize the tune. I never really liked U2 or listened to their music. Mainly because I can't stand Bono (pink glasses, seriously?), which is a stoopid reason for not listening to a band, I know. I sort of like this song. I'm guessing it's an older one. Track 17: I don't recognize this song, but could this be Neko Case? I've been listening to The New Pornographers a lot lately. This is a solid song, the first song by a female vocalist on this tape that I really like. The "hold on hold on hold on hold on" part is amazing. Track 18: R.E.M.! But which song? *thinkthinkthink* Ah, it's Half A World Away from Out Of Time. Loveitloveitloveit, both the song and the album. Track 19: This is an awesome song. It's got a big bandish feel with the trumpets and the (slightly over the top) background choir. This guy has an amazing voice. Slightly hoarse (I guess) but a nice tone. Track 20: Theeeeeeeeeeeeeeeere you are standing right in front of meheeeee. The video for this song is just beyond cute. Track 21: This is an appropriate last song ("here is where the story ends"), but I'm a bit indifferent to the singer. I really liked this tape, you have a good taste in music. My favourites were 2, 3, 4, 5, 8, 14, and 18 though I can honestly say I liked all songs even though I'm not big on female vocalist (I get bored rather easily by them). Excited to find out the artists. :D- The 5th Mixtape Exchange (Tapes In First Post)
The pleasure was mine. :nice: No go brush up on your Johnny Cash. :whip:- When Did Music Become Real For You?
I guess for me, music became real in 2006. Of course I'd listened to music before, extensively even. But in 2006 I first started listening to lots of different bands and genres whereas before I would only listen to (mainly) one band or genre. Though my first real festival in 2003 (not one of those crappy free things) and first concert in 2007 were pretty big moments as well. :nice:- Favourite Song from the band above !
