  1. I'm not sure if this required its own thread, but I agree with you. It really does feel like you're in another world for those 44 minutes.
  2. You totally caught me. When my opinion differs from yours, just assume I'm joking  Just kidding. And idk, I think it sounds great as an "album." These songs complement each other, play off each other. But then I think the same thing about the White Album. There's a lot of different sounds, but the Peter Pan themes, the graffiti imagery, the love story--it all kind of ties it together in a way that works for me.
  3. I'm just not hearing these album-breaking mistakes that other people are hearing.
  4. Silly thread, judging-an-album-after-half-a-day is for kids!
  5. blankshore replied to followchrist77's topic in U.F.O.
My favorite song on the album at this point.
  6. Same thing happened with Hail to the Thief. I'll be interested to see the changes, if indeed there are any.
  7. It feels like their White Album to me. A bunch of wildly different ideas thrown together in a way that actually makes a coherent album; Mylo Xyloto also has the benefit of being tied together with distinct themes. I love the mix of big anthems, slowed down acoustic songs, and evocative electro-pop like Paradise, Princess of China and Teardrop. It strikes me as their most balanced record yet, and their best-paced as well. None of these songs goes over the 5 minute mark, and my favorite song on the record, U.F.O. isn't even 3 minutes long--and yet it doesn't feel rushed. It just didn't need to be any longer.
  8. I like that the vocals on the album aren't "perfect," and that there's a few guitar "mistakes." Makes 'em sound like actual humans.
  9. I think Hurts Like Heaven sounds amazing. What album are you guys listening to?
  10. Yeah but I don't think we're going to be listening to a completely different album. It's going to sound like this, plus or minus a few minor tweaks to the mixing.
  11. Have you listened to this? Other than maybe mixing a few instruments a bit louder or quieter, it's not going to be significantly different. And it's enough of an indication to me that this is a really spectacular album.
  12. This album is just astonishingly good. I really wasn't expecting to be blown away...and yet here I am. I seriously doubt that the "final" version will be significantly different. It's just too good as it is now. A perfect, beautiful mixture of epic, catchy Coldplay anthems (Hurts Like Heaven, Charlie Brown, Don't Let it Break Your Heart), interesting new experiments (Paradise, Princess of China), and slowed down, acoustic balads (Us against the World, U.F.O., Up in Flames). I honestly think it's their best album.
  13. I'm only on Charlie Brown, but I've got to say: this album has already exceeded my expectations. Just shockingly beautiful.
  14. I don't think I can really say if I like it yet. I'm only listening to it for the second time now, but I will say this: REALLY different. I love that Coldplay have in no way listened to people longing for their a sound similar to their earlier, more subdued years. This is probably the most bombastic and audacious thing they've done. I have a feeling Mylo Xyloto wil be their most flawed album, but their most interesting one. As for Rihanna's contribution, it's obviously a great vocal performance...I'm just not sure she really adds anything to the song. But I'm thinking it just wasn't that strong of a track to begin with. Aaaanyway, I'm not sold on it yet, but I wouldn't say I hate it or anything. It's different, and different is good, in my opinion. EDIT: I also think that, like Paradise, this is one that's going to get better once I'm able to crank up da bass. I wasn't entirely sold on Paradise until I blasted it in my car at full volume.
  15. His lyrics have always been wildly hit-or-miss, and the new stuff is no different from my perspective.
  16. Please...I beg of you, Coldplay...don't let it be true.
  17. My comment wasn't intended to be mean, so I'm sorry that it sounded that way. It was just getting frustrating, because you kept asking the same question over and over again without changing your wording, and wondering why people were taking it the wrong way. The question "why are people trying so hard to like Paradise?" sounds snarky. It's not your fault, it's just that it's hard to infer your tone from such a short sentence on the internet. I just think we needed more explanation.
  18. I don't hear the similarities at all, frankly.
  19. I hate The Hardest Part (the album version--the solo piano version is magical) and Twisted Logic but I still like X&Y. So to answer your question, yes.
  20. Yeah the Oracle is just...the worst. It's awful. I honestly have no idea why it exists. It's not insightful, it's not interesting it's just...pants.
  21. I don't think its weird at all, actually. I think it's their most energetic and creative piece of work yet.
  22. How can you say this and sleep soundly at night?
  23. Grrr! What do you want from us? :inquisitive: This song sounds really different for Coldplay. So instead of immediately dismissing it as terrible, some people listen to it multiple times, try and let it wash over them in the hopes that it might grow on them. Nobody on a Coldplay fan site is going to go into a new Coldplay song and try to hate it. For most people here, Coldplay is their favorite band, so if their innitial reaction to Paradise was "well I didn't like that very much," they're probably going to try and like it. Nobody wants to dislike a new song from their favorite band. I genuinely don't understand why this question needs to be asked. The minute you asked it on a Coldplay fan site, you answered it yourself. If people are trying hard to to like the new Coldplay song (and I don't think they are, by the way) it's because they're hardcore fans of the band.
