  1. You sound like the kind of person who stopped listening to Radiohead after they put out Kid A, or U2 after they put out Actung Baby or The Beatles after they put out Sgt. Pepper.
  2. I don't think laughing at the song is a bad thing. It's an intentionally silly, dancy song, in my opinion. Doesn't make it bad.
  3. Surprised at the vitrol toward the song on the boards today. I think they absolutely nailed the studio version--the live rendition sounded far too similar to All My Friends.
  4. I'm a big fan of acoustic interludes. Between Era Extrana and Mylo Xylto I've been a happy camper these past couple months.
  5. I like that little noise toward the end of Princess of China. You know what I'm talking about. That noise! EDIT: Can I also join in the This Is Their Best Album club? You guys are the first I've seen here that share my opinion.
  6. Another surprise: the auto-tune backing vocals for HLH. Bad idea on paper. Awesome in execution. That makes a total of three songs in the history of man/that I've personally heard that make good use of auto-tune; the others being California English by Vampire Weekend and Lost in the World by Kanye.
  7. Mylo Xyloto (I went there. Yes I did.) Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends A Rush of Blood to the Head Parachutes X&Y All are quality, but I really think they raised the bar with this one.
  8. "Shit Sandwich" is a quote from Spinal Tap. I love the album, I was just being cheeky :p
  9. I have a feeling it's Chris' voice just really distorted. But I like to think of it as a chorus of acid-dropping chipmunks.
  10. I haven't had much time to explore the narrative aspects of the lyrics, but I think just as far as the songs are concerned, they sound great together. You can tell that they agonized over the track list, and it seems to have a distinct beginning, middle and end.
  11. It's something I'm eager to delve into, but I've only listened to it three or four times. I'll listen carefully next time and try to form some opinions :)
  12. If it's a zip file you need winzip or the like, but once they're unzipped you should be able to just drag the .rar files into iTunes. Worked for me.
  13. Some of us like the album. There is no need for Polish turd metaphors. And why does the turd have to be Polish? Racist.
  14. What are the haters going to do if this, in fact, the real version? Continue hating I suppose.
  15. Sounds like it might be a US only thing.
  16. So it's confirmed? Cool beans, that means I still have something to look forward to!
  17. Guys, let's just fight and get all mad at random people on the internet. That'll make us all feel better.
  18. Hmm. Biggest Disappointment: Princess of China. I only say this because its currently my least-favorite track. But it's growing on me. Biggest Surprise: U.F.O. I thought this was going to be some instrumental. Turns out it's one of the band's best acoustic balads. Absolutely beautiful.
  19. This thread has really gotten out of hand.
  20. I actually dig the background auto-tune vocals. It works for the song.
  21. It's growing on me, that's for sure. But Chris made it out to be this "dark, Orwellian thing" and it most certainly isn't. But it's a fun, rockin' tune, and I'm starting to appreciate it more for what it actually is.
