Fair enough. I myself don't see early abortion as a life as such. And whilst I personally wouldn't want a baby of mine to be aborted (unless I knew there would be severe complications), I fully support other people who wish to have abortions, providing it is legal.

With due respect, as far as I can tell, and forgive me if I'm wrong (I don't think I am as you would have mentioned it by now) but your child is not severely handicapped, nor was he conceived with a family member, nor somebody who raped you. Whilst these are not the only reasons why many unwanted babies are aborted, what are your views on these cases? Edit - does this require a new thread, or is there an existing one for general abortion and pro-life/pro-choice etc? I don't want this thread to lose focus on the appalling proposals being made in the opening post.

This afternoon I've been listening to South African Psychedelia and Dub. I couldn't really start a whole thread on that, so a general thread would be useful.

Fair point. I feel that these more liberal factions of Religion wouldn't have come about had Religion not lost its grip, and it's more in the past that it had the power to stop science. I do still think that religion has a direct effect on how people view certain things as much of the time it appears they have been programmed to behave in certain ways. For example less religious states tend to have some very different laws than religious states after all (even when confining this to countries which don't have religious laws explicitly), so it can be seen that religion still does play a role, even if it is only because of how ingrained it has become. I do agree that it is good to see more liberal factions, and they are welcomed in my eyes, though hopefully as part of a transition away from the major religions. If not, then it's still better than it used to be, so that's something.

Nerd is good. I wish I had had greater interest in those subjects. I really enjoyed History, but on its own I've tired of it. I'm only starting to become fascinated with Science as of recently, my friends constantly blow my mind. I'm missing the basics sometimes though so they have to explain from the start. What made you choose biology? Not that I wouldn't have chosen it either.

I just made a playlist on my Spotify called Soundscape, not even realising it was a genre. *Goes to indulge*

I was wondering if there was a thread for some of the lesser discussed genres like electro, dubstep, IDM and ambient music. There may already be one. I think it would help promote discussion or bands who fall into such categories since it's rare anybody talks about them individually. Or perhaps a thread for more obscure genres that people can dip into if they fancy listening to something they haven't done in the past. Without this I feel people don't have the exposure to these bands since the individual band threads drop very quickly since there doesn't tend to be much to discuss like normal bands as they tend to be quite low profile. If a band ends up being discussed extensively in the thread they can then have their own thread, but it saves me making tiny threads that receive few posts and are therefore forgotten. One larger one would be more preferable. If there is already a thread like this I apologise, but just throwing it out there.

Imagine losing your child, then straight away having to prove your innocence whilst in a state of grieving. I personally see it as a mitigating circumstance for them going absolutely fucking crazy at whoever is accusing them.

One of the most depressing things to say is that everything happens for a reason. Makes you just want to give up and let things happen, if it's all pre-planned. Obviously it isn't though. The only thing we know is that we will die. And like crests (edit - she edited) says, if he believes everything happens for a reason then he should believe that all the abortions that have happened have happened for a reason. He should also believe that any outcry to his own personal beliefs are happening for a reason, and if somebody was to attack him (which I both hope doesn't and doubt would happen, especially given how trivial some kids opinions are - just a shame he'll be influencing others) then that too will have been done for a reason. Hell, 9/11 was done for a reason then. You just got to hope he doesn't deal with any dissent by alluding to the forthcoming rapture that people are patiently (some more than others) waiting for. Is there a thread for this genre of music? Bands like these won't get discussed too much and the threads will drop. I think it would be better if there was one thread for some of the lesser known genres that people can drop into from time to time if they fancy listening to something they wouldn't normally.

I'm still in love with it though.
