  1. Band practice this afternoon for the first time in about 6 months or so. We are going to be working with this very basic demo/early idea. Going to try and make it into a full band sound with more atmosphere and maybe add a few bits here and there. We reckon it sounds a bit Thom Yorke solo acoustic/early Coldplay. Just posting it to get a general idea of whether people just think it's crap or actually sounds like it could be music. It's got a lot of evolution to go. https://soundcloud.com/mrwrenn/janver
  2. The Lounge never had the religion of Christ Martin within it back in my day.
  3. I was only pointing out a valid miracle :bigcry: And we've been through the 'why do non-Coldplay fans join this forum' thing before. This place would be worse if it was entirely exclusive to Coldplay fans. I also don't post in the Coldplay section.
  4. It's a miracle people still like Coldplay.
  5. I downloaded this book the other day so once I've finished the one I'm on I'll likely move onto it https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/16137812-delusions-of-gender
  6. I liked Creep when I was four as my sister would listen to it (she was nine). My sister and Dad both enjoyed The Bends and OK Computer and so did I, though I was still young at the time so I'd have had to really dislike it not to have taken to it with the amount it was played and the amount I respected my families taste in pretty much all things. Anyway, I started getting into the likes of Coldplay and then The Strokes and Kings of Leon (back when all those three were good - soooooo long ago) and hadn't kept up with Radiohead as I hadn't heard them on the radio. Anyway, as soon as I hit college around the time Hail To The Thief came out I made a friend who randomly put on the Kid A album while I was waiting for him to do something downstairs. I hadn't even realised they'd released any music after OK Computer and I didn't even know it was them until the vocals kicked in but I was hooked from the first note and new it was something special. After listening to the first four tracks on my own in a dark room I discovered they'd released three albums since I'd last listened to them (or rather followed them - I still listened to OKC and other tracks from the first two albums) so immediately consumed those and had my new favourite band. Another friend also got me into Bjork at the same time so it really marked a shift in my tastes away from the indie, acoustic and garage rock I'd moved towards when all on my own (my high school friends had awful tastes in music, my sister had moved out and my Dad wasn't listening to that much contemporary music at that point so I was exploring music mainly on my own at that point, unlike when I'd first started out and was heavily influenced by my family).

We are orchestrated by a greater force.
  8. Have you read Feral by George Monbiot? I recommend that.
  9. Indeed. The only problems that arise come from if you're persecuted for it. Unfortunately, too many are.
  10. You finally got there. I spent years thinking I was completely different to my online persona IRL. Then I realised I was merely coming out of my shell. I am a pretentious know it all who's overly passionate about things the general population couldn't care less about.
  11. I feel strange bringing it up, it's not something that's overly important to me as I've pretty much realised that this had always been the case. It's not something I really think about, nor has it changed me to realise it. It sounds a lot more earth shattering and game changing a realisation than it actually was.
  12. It's a sign that you're into good stuff, to some extent. My favourite bands/artists from my teens are almost all still going, and most releasing things generally considered to be as good as their earlier work. Unfortunately that's not the case for all of the bands, The Libertines flickered out and didn't hold up as well as I thought they would and The Strokes and Kings of Leon lost it long ago. But the likes of Radiohead, Massive Attack, Portishead, Boards of Canada, Aphex Twin, Beck, Bjork, Flaming Lips, Damon Albarn carrying on with Gorillaz, a lot have really carried it on strong.
  13. Possible for: Radiohead (possibly a long shot, but there's certainly longer shots) Tame Impala (pretty sure) Bjork (if what was posted above is correct) Aphex Twin (more of a long shot than Radiohead but he has said he has plenty of other stuff and wants to get back into releasing his back catalogue and that Syro will not be his last output) I'm finding so much new stuff it's almost irrelevant if this lot release anything though, which is cool as they all make up part of the core of my favourite stuff. Nice not to be so bound to them.
  14. Yeah, I've just got my first record player so it'd be awesome to celebrate with a new Radiohead album. Debating whether to open my King of Limbs record that I bought a few years back. I got the limited edition Newspaper version and had planned on keeping it sealed so I could sell it on if I ever needed the cash. I could just buy the regular version and listen to that, if I still think I'll do that. They are currently going for about a hundred pounds right now and would likely be going for a lot more in a few decades time, especially if they broke up. Could really do something with that money if that happened. But then I'm gagging to listen to it and can't justify buying another vinyl right now. Instant gratification and not making art into a commodity versus sensible planning. Hmmmm.
  15. The ability to give orgasms to others, simply by touching them. It'd be something you could turn on and off, so not like a Midas touch where you'd never be able to have physical contact with your parents ever again without being weirded out. And you could also turn it off so as not to lose the fun aspect of striving towards pleasing somebody and actually working hard. You could also have it on a dimmer setting so you could adjust intensity or have it as a slow builder so it's not simply over in a few seconds.
  16. Had to go for January. December has the shortest day in terms of light but has plenty of time to be with friends and family given the festivities, so for that reason it then slides to the following month. The weather has far too much an impact on how I spend my time and how much money I spend, so if there's not as much sunlight, it's colder, it's windier or it's not as dry, I find myself having to do things in the shelter. Given me and my friends mostly live at home with our parents, we prefer being out the way. Unfortunately this leaves us with pubs, and it's too easy to spend money there, and also to do things which aren't as healthy. I'm hoping when I move into my own place (which should be this year) this will change. The summer months are often filled with time spent outdoors, usually doing activities that don't require spending a load of money if you don't want to, like simply hanging out, going for walks, playing sports, etc. I also think I have a mild case of SAD.
  17. I don't identify as anything. Looking more and more into it, the whole gender thing just doesn't really make much sense to me at all any more, from my own perspective. That's not to say that I don't think people can relate to a specific gender, and that if they do then they are strange. I think maybe things that happened in my past (which I won't go into detail about) have made me more sensitive to gender borders and perceptions of masculinity, and then immersing myself into feminism and transfeminsm has furthered a shift in the way I view myself and society as a whole. I definitely exhibit more stereotypically masculine characteristics in my being, so it's no surprise that I saw myself as male and why others would view me as such, and I certainly don't have any ill feeling towards my predominantly masculine traits (in regards to non-physical) where I try to move away from them, as I have evolved them naturally to coincide with my ethics over time. I am also comfortable within my body and don't feel any desire to change it (past becoming healthier, though that transcends gender so isn't related to this).
  18. Interesting to see a bit of hate for the Thom Yorke's recent solo album. It's brilliant. I suggest people look at it in the context of all his recent work, if that helps them realise it isn't a decline. You've got the most recent Radiohead album which was beautiful, Atoms For Peace's album which was one of the best I've heard and now this solo one which is subtly fantastic and out of nowhere, all of which have been released in the last five years from a guy who has been bringing out music for over two decades. To be honest, I find it staggering.

  20. Yeah, I no longer identify as any gender. Had the realisation about a month or so ago. It doesn't bother me in the slightest that people call me a guy though I can understand those who specifically do not want to be labelled. It's something I need to work on as I still always forget. I guess I don't speak enough to people who request this, so as to keep me on my toes.
  21. I remember once seeing a charity which was sanitary provisions for women on their periods in war torn countries. Something that as a man I'd never even considered. Looked like a very good cause.
  22. I thought this was a good blog on the scientist's shirt: http://www.ianhopkinson.org.uk/2014/11/feminism/ I think the response to feminist discussion from certain areas can sometimes be more interesting to the finer details of feminist discussion. The majority of feminist discussion I see is about reducing violence against women, improving their ability to choose what life they want and how they want to live it, the hypocrisies present in every country on the planet when it comes to their treatment of women and general respect of both genders. A lot of the less important stuff gets pushed to the front of the argument as it gets more newspapers sold, or gets more hits on the website. Content is probably the least important it has ever been (this is speculation, I have nothing to back that up with) in comparison to making money from hosting content, given now there is so much competition and anybody can 'publish' something online. It's like how we get very offensive people with overly simplified arguments saying things we just can't say any more (shock horror), simply because people will listen or read because they are idiots/misguided, or because they are prejudiced, or even because it annoys them. I'm guilty of watching clips of Fox News, even though I know it will annoy me. But yeah, these kind of things are made because they sell, and feminism like every movement or idea can be targeted by these kind of peoples as click bait or to create their own 'shocking' careers. Unfortunately, people presume these kind of things are mainstream, the irony being that they have the potential to become mainstream the more they are pushed forward and the less people have to actually think about an issue.
  23. Nobody has learned anything in like a year. Shame on you
  24. I'm not saying it's a unified movement, I'm more saying that society as a whole isn't any less unified (which wasn't the point you were making, sorry - I'm tired haha). It's always been contentious but there appears to be more feminists out there, however they identify.
