  1. I will be seriously bummed if my GRB jacket & certificate arrive with a less than enthusiastic signature. I'm not expecting a love note...but I'd like to be able to at least see a distinguishable "G"! I know what's done is done, so here's to hoping...
  2. Great analogy there MrsBerryman1! I'm sure that the next time Guy reads through this thread, he'll have to agree that the "Scotch" analogy might fit better than wine :smartass: -- comparing people to wine has gotten so cliche & we can all agree that's certainly something Guy is not. :smartass2: I'm also going to have to agree with you on the whole "looking better with age bit". It's not like he was ever unattractive for a minute, but it's just that his baby face finally gave way to a nice structured jawline & killer cheekbones. I die. :drunk: Hi Ladies (and gentlemen too): I've been lurking here off & on for a bit, but decided to say hello after Katie name-checked me in a post. :curtain: Greetings & Salutations, I'm Afeather, the crazy gal that's going to not run around naked wearing Guy's Viva Tour jacket wearing cowboy boots & smile when it arrives in March. :wink3: Always love stopping by this thread...delicious pictures that make any bad day better. :laugh3:
  3. Negative Ricky – a hacker wrote the above comment! First they try to get your banking & personal info, next thing you know, they start they start write crazy comments about you running amok in the streets, wearing nothing but a pair of cowboy boots, a Viva tour jacket & a smile. :uhoh: I’m obviously very embarrassed by the hackers’ previous comments, as it makes it appear I purchased the jacket for any purpose beyond that of a fashion enthusiast who likes donating to charity but more importantly, loves the music of Coldplay. :wink3: I’ve now learned that I must be more careful with my information/posts for fear that this could happen again… (deleted) Lo&Loud: I couldn’t be happier for you and your recent discovery! :D If anyone deserved to find such great pieces of Coldplay history stored within a secret compartment of their item, it should be you since you contributed so much to Kid & Co’s worthy cause! I can’t wait to see pictures of all of your items, both Coldplay and the other “used” guitars that you refer to in your post! Seriously, do you have a blog or website that you run with photos? If not, you should! :laugh3:
  4. Sirhc: I purchased the Gibson J200 KC1 guitar (aka Til' Kingdom Come") and one of the tour jackets (Guy's), but won't receive either one until the Latin American tour finishes. Obviously they're not just going to make poor Guy give up his jacket to me quite yet -- though I'm still not exactly sure what I'm going to do with it once it arrives... :inquisitive: Afeather
  5. deleted) Rickenbacker, I can't remember if I ever wrote to you & sent my congrats. If I did, then ignore this repeat post or just take this new one as a "do over"; if not, then well done! When the auction catalog came out, I thought about adding the Ricky to my possible must have list after the Gibson & jacket (hoping that lots 31 & 46 went for a song), but the Rickenbacker ended first. I was so bummed at first BUT so deligthed that it ended up with someone who will love the blue boy. deleted Last..... I bet as more people start to pay for their items, and/or get them in hand, they'll feel more comfortable with announcing their exciting news; and, if they weren't members of Coldplaying.com before -- they'll soon be. I want to thank the guys for having this auction because: A) selfishly, I won something and I'm excited B) they are selfless & donated to a great cause C) it forced me stop lurking around like someone parked in a windowless van & chat it up with other people :laugh3:
  6. Bonedaddy, My initial email to the seller said that even my first purchase was flagged and that was for less than $10k so I knew that when I won my 2nd item (I was feeling confident at that point) that it would around the same amount, so either sent alone or combined, it would 99.9% not go through. This is the exact email I got back (excuse any formatting issues, I'm doing this all from my phone) ************************ Dear afeather, Apologies you are having trouble with PayPal. An alternative method of transfer is to donate the value of your winning bid on the Kids Company charity justgiving page as per the link below http://www.justgiving.com/EVENINGSTANDARDAUCTION - coldplaykidscoauction I wrote NumbersGirl a message about this last night-- I explored this alternate further and your two options are to pay by Credit Card or by... PayPal. As I wrote to NumbersGirl, I checked out Kid & Co website and they do have the ability to accept bank drafts online via a secure connection; but, this page doesn't allow you to type notes (e.g. This is a gift, payment for lot 26, etc) which without proper organization, could royally screw with their accounting. I got an away MSG from the person I contacted (Dr of Development), returning Monday, so I'll wait until then. If and when I get a reply back from her, I'll copy & paste here.
  7. Sorry - typing from my phone earlier, hands shaking & about to explode -- totally forgot to tell you which jacket I won. I purchased a smokin' hot jacket from a Guy today. Err, I mean a nice looking jacket from a smoking Guy who also happens to be handsome. Really trying not to objectify at the moment... Must remind myself the real reasons I had to have this particular jacket: * A chance to donate to charity * Legally touch/put on a piece of clothing worn by one of the members of Coldplay without being thrown in jail for stalking * Unmistakable provenance. No confusing who wore this jacket because it resembles nothing like those worn by Chris, Jonny & Will * Fashion forward with the lined bib piece and beading at the neckline yet authentic (in a retro way) to revolutionary military fashion (Major art history dork that studied the fashion and other textiles through paintings) * Nice use of lavendar throughout (my favorite color) and one that looks good on brunettes; a trait that I just so happen to share in common with the jacket's current owner * The other "military" jackets I own do not resemble this particular one so it wouldn't be like I was buying something I already had in my closet... Yeah, I'm stretching it a bit here. Who am I kidding -- it's a one of a kind designed by a not so bad looking Guy. PS: Heard back from the Ebay seller today & was directed to the following site to make a donation in the amount of the items: http://www.justgiving.com/EVENINGSTANDARDAUCTION
  8. That won't be happening...because I just won the jacket. Wish I could scream in excitement but a meeting is going on around me at the moment. Please do a bit of screaming for me until I can properly celebrate! Off to get my crack team of scientists to perfect the DNA cloning sequence. :wink3: Afeather
  9. UPDATE:So, after speaking with PayPal, having them transfer me to various supervisors, etc., this is the final word. Even though you can go through the process of getting "verified" to get rid of any pre-set spending limit from PayPal, it turns out there actually IS an "undisclosed" transaction limit of $10,000 U.S. (which is far below the ebay limit of $15,000). Since the globe was 8,100 British pounds, that is the equivalent of approximately $13,000 U.S., which is over this "undisclosed" limit. So... I'm trying to contact the seller, etc. to arrange other payment. Of course, I'm trying to do that via e-mails, because my cell phone company can't figure out what I'm trying to dial when I call the London numbers. Argh. CARRIE -- I'm so sorry that you're having to deal with this at the moment, especially since you jumped through all the hoops to become verified. I'm sweating bullets here, but mainly due to the fact that I really want to be in your same position tomorrow night! TO EVERYONE ELSE --I know that I just suddenly appeared out of the blue the other day, and my newbieness may be throwing people off; that, and a preconceived notion that I'm just another person that enjoys blowing through a whole bunch of money carelously -- fear not. I may be new to this group, but not my love/appreciation for Coldplay. I'm a longtime fan that: A) finally found time to join the message board B) enjoys donating to charities C) truly wants to make sure that these items are enjoyed by other devotees out there Here's to hoping that the first stage of my plan goes accordingly...:anxious:
  10. Would you please let us know how this pans out? Hopefully (fingers & toes crossed), I will be following in your footsteps in a day or two, and despite being verified with EBay & PayPal, I'm still terrified of hidden technicalities. So incredibly happy that you got the globe -- please post pictures when it arrives! :)
