So I'm sitting here writing my article about the Coldplay concert, 5:30 am, and one of my Xylobands from the Club Nokia show starts flashing... I grabbed my camera to take a photo but then, of course, it stopped. I'm three hours from San Jose, so no idea why it started blinking... maybe it's excited because I brought a new pink one home? Jason

Long night... just got home a little after 3 am. Awesome gig. I shot three full length videos and took almost 400 photos (plus Dianne took I think even more photos than that)... will have my review up this morning some time... feeling a bit zombie-like at the moment. LOL Jason

I had to find someone further away, to make me feel better about my drive... :laugh3: Jason

Hey, so I finally broke down and bought tickets to this show. I kind of expected Coldplay to fill in more dates (maybe closer to me - San Jose is three hours away), and, well, that never happened... So I've kept my eye on the (INSANE) prices and locations of tickets on StubHub... This morning I bought tickets in Section 3 (Jonny-side floor), 4th row (!)... seats unknown at this time (will have to see when FedEx delivers them). They were actually very reasonably priced - just a bit more than what some friends paid through Ticketmaster for floor seats at other shows. So kuduos to the mystery person who put them on StubHub, as it was probably about break even for them once you factor in the fees on their end. So if anyone wants to meet up, say hi, toss something at my big round head, etc... I'll post my seat numbers when I have them. I'll be posting an extensive review with photos and video on my new site www.rocksubculture.com the night of the show (or the next morning, since I'll have a three hour drive back right after LOL). Hey All, Some of you may have read some of my Coldplay concert reviews on my website, the Original Prop Blog (which is really about film and television more than music)... well, this week I've launched a new website that is all about music - the Rock Subculture Journal. I've shifted my music-related articles from the other site over to it, so there is content to read already. :lol: One big focus will be concert reviews of a variety of bands, so if you have any interest, you are welcome to check it out. I'll be going to lots and lots of concerts throughout the year, so there will be many reviews. I'm also doing a little traveling to other cities (and hopefully countries), so there is always a chance you might run into me. :cool: You never know. So they showed Charlie Brown... cut to commercial... Then after commercials they show Jimmy again introducing Coldplay, and you can see me and Dianne standing behind him to the right... and it goes to black, and then commercials again? Is it just my local station, or did it cut away from the show for everyone? Jason

The funny thing is Erik, by the time we got to that yellow tape line, I was probably 20-30 feet away from Dianne and company... a little bit before they initially started moving us they put a small group in front of us at the front of the line (presumably friends and family, not KROQ winners), and when it started getting pushy (and some were specifically PO'd at them for being put in front of us, one of them said another one was pregnant, so I felt obligated to try to "be a wall" behind her, so to say, and lost track of my friends by the time we got right close to the stage - then I had to kind of wade my way over there... Definitely some rough people in that crowd, especially the initial dash to the stage - it was like, are you kidding me? Anyway, cool to finally meet and we'll have to do it again! Jason

Okay, waaaay tired (5 am now)... here is my follow-up article to last night's on the Club Nokia gig: Jimmy Kimmel Live! Concert Photojournal: Review of Coldplay Outdoor-Mini Concert Block Party in Hollywood on 2/9/2012 I am still uploading the second of the two full videos I shot (the other being Viva la Vida)... Pics for this show don't compare to my other one, as I was limited to my iPhone, which is a terrible camera for concerts. Coldplay brought it, as they always do, but Chris seemed a bit more under the weather tonight than at Club Nokia - hope he takes care of himself! I think his inner Tarzan came out to try to compensate (full video below)... I was watching my videos I shot (trying to upload at least one tonight - hotel wi-fi not being cooperative) and some of the screams in the audience are more like "there's an axe murder in the audience!" rather than "I love Coldplay!"... :lol: Blood curdling screams + concert is a weird combination. But weird kind of describes the night overall. :lol: I was standing next to Dianne, and concur with her review. And... hi Jimmy! :P Jason
