Question: May Sound Silly-- Seats Close to the Stage
Seats totally depend on venue. If there is general admission in the front, that can be awesome if you have a strategy to get to the front (which usually means getting to the venue really early, and there are still no guarantees). If it's a venue with no general admission/standing in the front, I've found it's totally worth buying tickets from scalpers for front row (or close) if it's within the realm of affordability. Front row can be better than a meet and greet. I had front row center seats for Billy Idol at a small winery last night and it was incredible - he was literally *right there* and I got some cool souvenirs. I would imagine Coldplay front row seats somewhere though would be prohibitively expensive, because they are so huge right now. I'd rather have far away seats with great (far away) views over floor/standing seats and not seeing anything. But if you are going to see, say, Coldplay a few dates in a row, I'd probably mix it up GA/Standing and seated (not floor) to have both experiences. Jason

I'm in the U.S. and mine haven't shown up yet, but I won't be worried about it unless that is still the case in early December... Jason

Hi Maria! Yes, but we put our dates in a different order than the rest of the world... Are you going to the London show? Yeah, I figured it might be a good idea to change my sig and avatar so people have some idea of what I look like, since I will be going to three shows between now and the end of the year. For the UK shows last year, I met up with other Coldplayers and had no idea what anyone looked like! Every little bit helps. :) Jason

I'm pretty sure that the golden ticket just gets you early entry and pre show food and drinks and seating in a designated section. I think it's just a way for the venue/promoters to make a lot more money. I got VIP tickets at the UCLA show a few months ago, and it was pretty much the same, although we also got some cool swag too - I posted a pic of what we got in our VIP package for that show HERE. I kind of doubt they will have free stuff like that here though, as I think AT&T probably paid for all of it as a promotional thing. My friend and I are still going to try to get some general admission/standing tix for this show, just so we have the option to try to get in the mix of it on the floor. :) Jason

I got on Ticketmaster.es right when they opened for the sale of these tickets, and the general admission (standing) tickets were already gone. I was also trying on Live Nation, and they showed general admission tickets, but wouldn't allow me to check out with them. Ended up buying the "Golden Tickets", as that was the only real option left. Everything but those and the seats behind the stage were gone immediately. Just super happy to have any tickets, and they do will call so I don't have to worry about not getting them in time... :) Jason

So is the general sale of tickets starting in about 2 hours from now? (trying to calculate the time changes...) Also, for those who bought tickets, what are the delivery options? Are they all hard (paper) tickets or do they give you the option to download a PDF and print them yourself? Lastly, what is the best site to order them from? Ticketmaster? Live Nation? Servicaixa? Somewhere else? Thanks! Jason

Mi nombre es Jason, y me envician a la música Coldplay y vivo los conciertos. :laugh3: Okay, I cheated and used BabelFish... ;) I will be getting in the night before, so will be around all day the day of the concert. Maybe we need custom "VIP Coldplaying" wristbands or laminates to find each other at the show. I like the idea of picking a place to meet up afterwards, but since I've never been to Madrid before, I have no informed suggestions... You would totally fit in my luggage. And I'm going to be there such a short time, it would be a waste to fill my suitcases with anything other than more Coldplaying fans in the States! Jason

My friend Oz (member here) will also be going, though he will have much shorter flights! Maybe we (Coldplayers) can all plan to meet up somewhere after the show for some food and/or drinks? I've never been to Spain, so I'm open to suggestions... :laugh3: I'm seriously going to have to brush up on my Spanish from middle school and high school classes... (let's just say that it is muy mal). ;) Jason

Thanks to a Coldplaying friend, I will be coming all the way from California for this show! Soooo excited - I'm also a huge Anton Corbijn fan (Depeche Mode is my other favorite band); his participation along with the incredible venue, and being the first official MX gig... can't wait! Jason

Do You Think Rihanna Will Perform at Some of the December Gigs?
I think the band is very smart and very media savvy... even if she performed at just one of their performances, it would get a lot of attention. The more I think about it, I would be kind of surprised if Rihanna *didn't* perform with them at one of the December shows... Jason

Do You Think Rihanna Will Perform at Some of the December Gigs?
Along with Coldplay and some other performers/bands, I am planning to see Rihanna while I'm in the UK in December, and I noticed that there is a big gap in her touring schedule that seems kind of interesting, when you then look at Coldplay's schedule... and started thinking about Princess of China. I wonder if there is a chance she might perform with Coldplay at one or more of their shows? Thoughts? Jason

Coldplay live: the big dare
See You Soon Green Eyes A Message (acoustic) Lovers in Japan (acoustic) Talk (straight up normal version) White Shadows In the Sun (Will can do Michael Stipe's bits) Help is Round the Corner Bigger Stronger How You See The World No. 2 Is that too many? I can totally add more, otherwise. :D I can't wait to hear them play Christmas Lights again, which they will obviously be doing in December, so I didn't need to add that one... Would "will call only" solve the ticket problem?
Great points. Now that you mention it, I know someone high up in promotions for a sports arena, and he has blocks of prime tickets for every event, and it spills over into music concerts as well. I just know that he doesn't sell them on the Internet, etc., so it didn't come to mind. His are more for "good will". He's actually told me stories before where he will go into an elevator at the arena, and say "hello" to the other people there for the game, and if only like one person is friendly enough to say 'hi' back and talk with some enthusiasm about the event, he'll look at their tickets, see that they have the "nose bleed" seats way up at the top, and say, "want to trade for these, straight across?" and give them front row seats behind the player's bench. Jason

Would "will call only" solve the ticket problem?
I think it would be a nightmare, as most people wouldn't pick them up until they got to the venue for the show. It would also then be more costly for the venue, as they'd need added staff to manage all that and maybe added security (assuming there would even be a way to line up that many people outside of a venue). And you know what that means... higher ticket prices. And scalpers would still find work arounds anyway. Bottom line is, ticket scalping is a business, and I think it would be really, really challenging to find a way to put an end to what is essentially supply and demand-driven commerce. But I think that there has to be a way to make things more "fair". I know of a small venue here in the States - a winery that does a really nice Summer concert series, and they have a special "pre-sale" where you can buy tickets with really expensive dinners, etc. I asked them about that this year, thinking it would be worth it if you get really good seats, and she told me the section that they get tickets from for this promotion, and it was one of the worst sections. On the shows I've bought tickets for, I go to Ticketmaster and F5 the site until it opens for sale, and the best I've ever gotten that was is center section 3rd row. But the next day, a scalper will be reselling the entire front row on StubHub for 4-10X face value. It's not even possible to buy an entire row through the Ticketmaster site, so obviously that raises a lot of questions... Is Ticketmaster reselling them? Is there some employee or something that knows how to game their system? Who knows. But something is up, above and beyond fair/open market for buying tickets. Jason
