  1. If it's a big band I like, like Muse or Coldplay, I don't really give a toss because I know they're rolling in it! But when it's bands that mean a hell of a lot to me, or bands that have never made it big because of label pressures, other pressures or just reasons that most people wouldn't know, it does grate a little bit. Good examples being Reuben or Amplifier (the former have got me through a lot of crap over the years, and the latter had to make their newest record all on their own over the past 5 years). So that's my answer.
  2. Confusing rating system really, ya could have just put 1-10 ;) But either way, I think it'll be a 3 or 4. It'll be good, sure, but the internet posse will obviously regard it as somehow the most important cultural thing this decade.
  3. In terms of pure talent, this band deserve to be huge.
  4. Nice to see Dead Letter Circus in there. Most the good acts are the nearer the bottom though :p
  5. The fact that their first three albums get a sentence in an article explaining who they are just says it all. :\
  6. Quote by Simon ages ago: So there you go.
  7. lol. Completely disagree. You got Kings of Leon and Biffy very confused there. Biffy's first three albums are absolutely brilliant, mind-bending masterful pieces of work. I can't say I begrudge them of their success since Puzzle, but from a selfish, music fan point-of-view, I can't say I find Many of Horror anywhere near good. Kings of Leon are and always have been shite.
  8. I find it slightly worrying, that even on a Coldplay board, this has as many 10/10s as it does! It's a decent song. I gave it 6, maybe deserves 7, but it's nowhere near the band's best work. It's just a pleasant Christmas song, but very Coldplay-by-Numbers. I expect more from the album.
  9. If you like any Arcade Fire full stop, you'll love REVERE. Check em out. :)
  10. Alternative Rock vs Jazz

I miss this band, I've decided. I don't care if they're pretty unremarkable Coldplay soundalikes. Tourist was the first album I bought myself on CD in 2005, and I still particularly love Twenty Four Hours. What a song :D Wires was goood too.
  12. Aye, we've been saying "Mon the Biffy" for years, simply because it's a Scottish way of 'encouraging' or supporting a band. It's like saying Come on Biffy, like you'd say to a footy team e.g. Come on the Reds
  13. Really hope the new album is less pop-orientated; now that they've won over so many new fans, it probably will be, but I'd love them to at least have an album of That Golden Rules (i.e. hinting at their older sound).
  14. Possibly my favourite genre. Amazing bands: Oceansize - Mix between prog/post. My fave band. REVERE - A bit like a post-rock Arcade Fire. New album coming out soon, they might be big. They participated in that radio 6 storm the charts campaign. Sigur Rós - We should all know them really. Iona - Celtic/atmospheric stuff. Godspeed You! Black Emperor - Very long, pretentious stuff but rewarding and very beautiful when you get into it. God Is An Astronaut - SO atmospheric. Explosions in the Sky - If you're into Snow Patrol etc, heart-on-sleeve emotional stuff, you should really check these guys out. Ólafur Arnalds - Pretty piano music. I say he's post-rock, but he's as much contemporary classical as anything; but he utilises drums etc. Amusement Parks on Fire - Shoegazey post-rock. And So I Watch You From Afar Maybeshewill Isis - The above three bands are good if you like instrumental music :)
  15. This. First three albums >>>>> Puzzle > New album.
  16. Sorry, but U2 are just cack for me. A couple of good songs here and there but there's hundreds of more engaging bands. Plus Bono annoys the hell out of me.
  17. The fact U2 are in the list, let alone winning it, shows how bad it is :P
  18. Nah, Soaked was always a gash song. Glad it never made the album.
  19. Aw. Ich bin newbie.
  20. New Sigur Rós-Coldplay collaboration is amazing. :o [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9f01UKNWZAA&feature=related]YouTube- Sigur Rós and Coldplay collaboration[/ame]
  21. The comparison hasn't been valid since Muse's first album.

Took two whole pages for someone to say that? :laugh3: Not enough geeky males on here obviously.
  23. Coldplay are pop music though. Sure, they aren't crappy synthy/r&b/wannabe gangster pop with vocoders all over the place but still. It's not a bad thing (I mean, I'm sort of agreeing you on that point).
  24. For goodness sake. Stop being such a bunch of pansies. :P If we didn't do anything at the risk of pissing somebody off the world would be a horrible place. Mine: 1. Brokencyde 2. Anything the X Factor/American Idol churn out 3. Nickelback et al. 4. Miley Cyrus 5. Soulja Boy tell em or whatever he's called
