  1. Oh no, I'd say at least 50-60% of every live set from Viva onwards has had vocal playback incorporated into the mix.
  2. I think most people commenting on here are under the blissful impression that this has never happened before, when the band have been using vocal playback live for over a decade. I mean, come on now... I remember my past disappointment at learning that songs like Glass of Water had whole sections where Chris was barely singing (because understandably so, he couldn't always reach the high notes). I'm not sure which video it is, but if you watch closely it appears as though Chris is certainly not singing the early verses (he lurches back on his stool to re-position himself, only his voice can still be heard despite the distance between himself and the mic. The constant mic fiddling is a bit suspect, too). I think it's likely that he either re-recorded certain parts in a studio or soundcheck before the tour (not that this even remotely makes sense, but still it seems it was planned that way).
  3. I enjoyed listening in to the show and have just watched footage of the live lounge, which was quite revealing. I thought that AOAL (sans backing track fanfare) was v. good indeed. As far as I'm concerned, the argument for having automated playback in most songs is more or less nullified when they can pull arrangements like that out of the bag. Also, look at how Jonny missed his cue to deactivate them at the end of CL...(and then Chris took the blame for it).
  4. Well, that was a real treat. The difference an authentic snare drum makes... I can actually watch them performing ASFOS without cringing. Down with the samples!
  5. So, after recent events... (New Song) Charlie Brown Clocks Magic Yellow True Love (New Song) God Put a Smile Upon Your Face Oceans Don't Panic [and or any other acoustic / slow tempo track] (New Song) Viva La Vida Paradise M.M.I.X. Every Teardrop Is a Waterfall [Encore] Fix You ASFOS Amazing Day
  6. Seriously, how the hell anyone thought it wouldn't appear on AHFOD is beyond me. Perhaps we should put it down to wishful thinking on the part of overzealous naysayers?
  7. He kind of already carries Magic and to a lesser extent, a whole host of other songs (incl. Everything's Not Lost).
  8. Fair point. And to think in (roughly) the last decade Chris and the band have collaborated / performed with the likes of Brian Eno, Ian McCulloch, Richard Ashcroft, Jon Hopkins and Cat Power et al. I personally felt that POC worked really well but I do find this cozying up to illuminati pop stars quite disconcerting.
  9. So... I'm not sure if anyone noticed but while people were venting about the lack of genuine commentary I actually expressed a legitimate opinion, anyone care to comment on what I said? http://www.coldplaying.com/forum/threads/104842-Amazing-Day?p=5739489&viewfull=1#post5739489 :D
  10. I second this. Seriously... Whilst I think excessive negativity (note, NOT legit criticism) is distasteful, can we please reserve deletions to abusive posts and or trolling?
  11. I hope the rest of the album is as 'instrumental' (for want of a better word) as this. I can't help but fall for the melody and climax, it just sticks in your head. Definitely the best part of a rather crummy performance the other day (as far as Chris was concerned).
  12. Right. Of course, I wasn't thinking of it as an excuse for people to demand the most obscure songs that the band will probably never play again. I think having a vote on one song (maybe some kind of competition?) would be a good idea.
  13. I don't see anything wrong with becoming spiritual. Cozying up to the likes of Joe Biden et al however is something that really bothers me.
  14. Curious as to what people think about the idea of crowdsourcing songs. I doubt that the band would ever consider it, but I think letting fans vote to decide (say, a festival) setlist would be a really interesting, democratic idea.
  15. 'Our piano broke 1 min before going onstage. No clocks, paradise'. Yeah, I'm sure we were all gutted about not getting to hear both of those for about the millionth time...
  16. Joe Biden made an appearance. So, it turns out that this was just about oil in Ukraine and recruiting more members of the illuminati, hey.
  17. When Chris performs like this I sometimes think that Coldplay should retire from touring for the foreseeable future...
  18. It's a decent song but I seriously hope Chris isn't this sloppy when they actually start touring. His goofing around is clearly a problem at the moment..
