  1. ^ That's exactly what I do. I don't make judgements on how good/bad a band is until I've heard at least 6-7 of their songs.
  2. Thank you! Ugh. The forums are awesome but I do get tired of people saying that Radiohead are better than Coldplay. That's fine. We all have our opinions. Coldplay may have started with the same roots as Radiohead, but they have clearly moved on to form their own sound (that's why we love 'em, right guys??) I don't think it would be a good idea to compare classical music with Aerosmith because they are so different. With bands like Radiohead, Coldplay, U2, Muse, etc. you can't really compare them to anyone because they really aren't like anyone else! The comparisons between ARoBttH/Parachutes and the various Radiohead albums are perfectly fine because Coldplay still hung on to those Radiohead inspirations, but post-X&Y something changed and I don't think those sorts of comparisons really work as well anymore. Sorry, had to rant. Now, off to paint a house! See you guys later. P.S. - Didn't mean to offend anyone or get anyone all riled up, just my humble opinion on things. Have a good day, guys, and let's try to enjoy Coldplay while they're still around for us to enjoy.
  3. I don't think that's all that weird, but I did think that the fact they labeled Christmas Lights as Pop was strange:inquisitive: But then again, I change all of Coldplay's Alternative tags to Soft Rock ;)
  4. I gotta admit that ETiaW manages to make me happy every time I listen to it even if it's far from Coldplay's best . . . especially when Guy's bass comes in at 1:40 :wacky:
  5. And that's why Coldplay will keep the majority of their fanbase regardless of this, or future, albums if they turn out to be not-so-good. Many fans can enjoy listening to more than one song; and the huge crowd of people that were drawn in by their one-hit-wonder of Viva La Vida may come back and buy ETiaW also because it suits their level of interest.
  6. I actually quite like synths ^^ Especially the ones at the beginning of Violet Hill. Nothing can beat an old-fashioned piano, though :awesome:
  7. Well, I like that they're trying something new, broadening their horizons with an uplifting, happy song I don't like that Chris's voice is all weirded out and buried underneath the layers of synthesizer melodies, and I don't particularly like Will's solo at the end. Not a bad song, but definately not their best :\
  8. Wut? O_o It isn't stealing, actually. I can name off a whole list of bands that sample (proper term thar :P) from other singers. Coldplay has done it several times: Life In Technicolor (from John Hopkin's 'Light Through The Veins') and Talk (from Kraftwork's 'Computer Love') They even sampled from themselves with Speed Of Sound (as it uses the same decreasing piano sequence used in Clocks) :)
  9. If you go to the Recordings on coldplay.com and look at the lyrics, they give credit to I Go To Rio/Peter Allen at the bottom. They are also credited as the artists (along with Coldplay) when you pull up the song info in iTunes
  10. The beginning few lines may be a bit pop-ish, but I would have to disagree about the rest of the song. There's depth there, you just have to look for it.:)
  11. Exactly. That's why I'm starting to get the suspicion that this may be another stand-alone single rather than a song for LP5. It may just be a festival song, something to get the crowd going since they only have a handful of really upbeat songs like Yellow and Viva.
  12. How so? Viva and Lost! are certainly commercial-y, but what about 42 and DaaHF and Cemeteries?
  13. If I may ask . . . what was it about Viva that you didn't like? (I assume you're talking about Viva, but please correct me if I'm wrong)
  14. yes x 10000000000 And guys, I'm sure this isn't the first song by Coldplay that you haven't liked, right? And there will be songs after this that you may not like, either. But just because you don't like/despise/hate 10% of their songs doesn't mean you should give up on them because there will always be that other 90% of their discography that you do enjoy listening to.:)
  15. There isn't. I bought it off iTunes--there wasn't one listed and there aren't any listed on coldplay.com
  16. We need b-sides! C'mon Coldplay you always have awesome b-sides, so where are they? Nothing for Strawberry Swing Nothing for Christmas Lights Nothing for ETiaW :(
  17. Woah. And ETiaW has only been out 4 hours :stunned: That's amazing!
  18. You know, when I listen to ETisW without earphones, I can kinda see where that guy thought there might be some country influences. The electric and acoustic guitars together sound like they could be riffs from some pop-ish country song
  19. ^ so they would have two one-off singles in a row? That would be kinda strange, but I guess Coldplay can do what they want!
  20. I'm on play #13 :awesome: Alright now, Coldplay, let's get Single #2 out! (Or the album, either one is fine :P )
