  1. I think he may be. Especially taking into consideration that one of the lines in Major Minus "I hear those crocodiles ticking 'round the world" which references Captain Hook and his croc stalker (lol). I have no idea WHY the guys are referencing Peter Pan, though O_o
  2. I actually quite like your interpretation, too! You're not a dunce (but now I feel that I may be over-thinking MM now :P ) Maybe it's a bit of both our interpretations?
  3. It wasn't played at Rock am Ring, just Rock im Park--which had no live streaming. So the only videos we have are from people in the crowd. I do wish we had a HQ version, though. It sounds like a cool song :P
  4. *sigh* I'm sorry if I come across as rude when I say this, but I can't help but wonder how it is that one bad song (or, even as some people are saying, one bad album) can make people think that this is Coldplay's downfall. I understand that some of you have come to expect a lot from Coldplay, you might expect them to write revolutionary lyrics time after time in order to maintain their status as one of the biggest/best bands in the world--that's fine, you all are entitle to your own opinion, and I respect that. But the fact is that somewhere along the line, Coldplay will write a bad song or two, or perhaps even release an album that some fans will not like. I don't think know that this isn't Coldplay's downfall, because I know that other great songs will follow ETiaW and other great albums will follow Viva. This is just a small stain on a record that most of you would otherwise find satisfactory. You can all say what you think of this song/other songs/other albums, whether it be praising it or throwing dirt on it, but please respect Coldplay as a band. I think they've earned it, whether you're a fan of just one song, or their entire catalogue. I'm sorry if I've offended anyone. No hate was intended. :)
  5. "Just erodes us in the rain Just erodes us, just erodes us in the rain" :awesome: :wink3:
  6. ^ Lyrics are always better when they reference something! :wink3:
  7. I think it makes sense  The narrator is telling the other person that they've got someone watching them. -- I also have an idea about the crocodile reference (if Chris actually does say crocodiles instead of clocks and dials, which would make sense also) When Captain Hook heard the ticking of the crocodile, he would always try to get away because he knew the crocodile was coming back for him and would ignore everyone else. In a sense, he knew how/why and, to an extent, when, he was going to die/be eaten. Maybe the narrator in MM is experiencing the same thing--they sort of know how/when/etc. they might die and it's a Major Minus for them (wouldn't that be depressing to know when you were going to die? :uhoh:) Maybe the narrator also knows that this other person (the one he is keeping "one eye on") will have a hand in it somehow--i.e. because of a grudge or perhaps they will break his heart and the narrator will commit suicide, a la Romeo and Juliet. So maybe the narrator is trying to prevent his death (or, now that I think about it, he could also be referencing the other person's death, or the fact that their relationship is going to end in a bad way) and he's trying to keep an eye on him so he might be able to stop the chain of events that will lead up to it. EDIT: That would also fit with LP5's theme of love, OCD, addiction and escape--as in he's trying to escape/prevent his fate (dying) -- I kinda forgot where I was going with this :sweatdrop: but that's the gist of it. Oh, and dang. Long post :freak:
  8. I mentioned this exact same thing in another thread, but I couldn't think as to why Coldplay would be referencing Peter Pan :P Happy to help! :)
  9. I could see that, but it would be awfully similar to Viva--with LiT/MX as an instrumental segueing into Cemeteries/HLH :\
  10. Is PinkPop going to have live streaming?
  11. Maybe EMI made the guys release it as the first single--they are strapped for cash right now, aren't they? So it would make sense for them to have the guys release a single that is Viva-ish and could bring in some money . . . . hrmm
  12. Actually, isn't MX the title of that little keyboard-intro song the guys played just before HLH last night at Rock im Ring?
  13. Yeah--I saw that they spelled Violet Hill wrong across the bottom, so I'm not going to rely too heavily on that. But, since Chris randomly shouted out Charlie Brown I'm just going to assume that's the alternate title or something.
  14. You guys be sure to bring back some pictures (and more importantly, videos!) for the rest of us Coldplayers if you can! :awesome:
  15. That actually sounds pretty good! I think that may be it :)
  16. Here's my interpretation: You got one eye watching you and one eye what to do? so be careful who is it you're talking to You got one eye watching you and one eye what to do? so be careful what it is you're trying to do And be careful who it is (?) And be careful when you're walking into view Ooh-oooh-oooh Ooh-oooh-oooh-ooh Got one eye on the road and one on you Ooh-oooh-oooh Ooh-oooh-oooh-ooh Got one eye on the road and one on you You got one eye watching you And one eye what to do? so be careful 'cause my friend, this is true Ba-ba-ba-da don't believe a word it's just us against the world and we just gotta turn into the (?) I hear those crocodiles ticking 'round the world I hear those crocodiles ticking, you go ticking 'round the world Ooh-oooh-oooh Ooh-oooh-oooh-ooh Got one eye on the road and one on you Ooh-oooh-oooh Ooh-oooh-oooh-ooh Got one eye on the road and hey! (?) (?) Ooh-oooh-oooh Ooh-oooh-oooh-ooh Got one eye on the road and one on you Ooh-oooh-oooh Ooh-oooh-oooh-ooh Got one eye on the road and one on you
  17. I think that line is "I'll be a bright red rose combusting the concrete" instead of "I be a bright red rose come bursting the concrete" It just sounds better to me :awesome: EDIT: Here's my interpretation of the lyrics: I stole a key Took a car downtown where the lost boys meet I took a car downtown and took what they offered me To set me free I saw the lights go down at the end of the scene I saw the lights go down and they're standing in front of me Oooh My scarecrow dreams When they smashed my heart into smithereens I be a bright red rose combusting the concrete Be the cartoon heart Light a fire, oh light a spark Light a fire, a flame in my heart We'll run wild We'll be glowing in the dark Glowing in the dark Oooh ooh ooh Ah ah aahhh All the boys, all the girls All the madness/families in the world All the boys, all the girls All the madness that occurs All the highs, all the lows As the room is spinning, oh We'll run wild We'll start glowing in the dark So we saw an innocent liar(?) We'll be glowing in the dark
  18. I think that's pretty much correct, except for the part about the lion's den. Amazing song, although I think it could sound even better on piano :awesome:
  19. I'm really liking the keyboard riffs--they're like . . . ancient Chine with a Coldplay spin :wacky:
  20. Hard decision, this one, but I'm going with Charlie Brown, although all of their new songs are fantastic! LP5's gonna be a great one :sneaky:
  21. Wait a second . . . .:stunned: wrong thread, sorry guys! :sweatdrop: This is the setlist for Rock im Ring! *sneaks away quietly*
  22. If they ever play it again, I think they should do the rock version like in the Live 2003 Tour Diary :wink3: Now THAT was an awesome song :awesome:
