I have no idea :shifty: but I remember a question to the Oracle quite a while back asking how many copies of Viva it would take to bail out EMI--it was some outrageous number in the billions.

Lyrics (page 2 onwards)
I just realized that the guys used a Wizard of Oz reference in this song! "My scarecrow dreams/When they smashed my heart into smithereens" ---> The scarecrow wanted a brain, right? So Chris is basically saying that his mind has no control over how his heart feels Finally, a Wizard of Oz reference that isn't some stupid joke about Kansas!

Princess of China
That's exactly what I was thinking--Up With The Birds might be a song on LP5 after all! Actually, didn't the guys say they had a list of like 50 songs that they had to go through? Probably songs like UWtB, Alien Radio, Arabesque, etc.

[11-June-2011] Coldplay @ Pinkpop Landgraaf festival, Netherlands
Nope. Not working for me either. Maybe there'll be a stream on JustinTV like there was for Rock am Ring?

Really? I can't hear any autotuning in Coldplay's other songs

Coldplay: Greatest downfall in the history of music?
ColdplayingfromKansas replied to Josh42's topic in Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall (Single, EP & video)I've always thought that A Rush Of Blood To The Head (the song, that is) has some of the best lyrics I've ever heard. It's up there with a couple of those U2 songs.

They seem to enjoy playing it, yes (but Jonny has such a freakin' awesome riff anyway :P ) but I can't help wondering how Chris felt about them auto-tuning his voice in the first few lines--that's the only part I actually hate about ETiaW (except for Will's solo at the end, which I passionately dislike) And I do remember reading an article some time ago about how originally the guys were going to release another album a few months after Viva so they could get out of their record contract with EMI--who slated them to release 5/6 studio albums (can't remember the exact number) and a Greatest Hits.

^ Except for Cemeteries. That 'un had some good lines :wink3: Am I the only one who keeps replaying the part where Chris hits the falsetto at "All the highs, all the lo-oooows" ?

Why I think ETIAW is beautiful
ColdplayingfromKansas replied to DukeNewcomb's topic in Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall (Single, EP & video)There should definitely be a thread about this.

Every Teardrop might NOT be on LP5! (The Oracle Answers)
ColdplayingfromKansas replied to a post in a topic in Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall (Single, EP & video)In the light of this recent question, I think my guess of LP5 dropping in October may not be far off. I don't think ETiaW will be included, if this is the case, and the other songs may be scrapped beforehand also--why give away so many songs unless a) LP5 will have more songs than normal, i.e. around 15 or more or b) none of these songs will actually appear on the album. I also have some doubts about Major Minus. The guys know how deeply we Coldplayers delve into every little clue they give us, and this one just seems too easily given away. I would think that they would make us work harder to puzzle out the title of LP5--after all, look at all the stuff we had to put together for ETiaW! Something's just not quite right about these circumstances . . . . :inquisitive:

Maybe it's "And you gotta speak to be heard" I think that would make more sense

"Hurts Like Heaven" Lyrics
Ooooh, I love that . . . . "concrete canvas" :wacky: sounds really cool I think you may be on to something, Silver.lining42--I'm hearing it now that you mentioned it "On a concrete canvas I am makin' my mark"

Speculations/ Theories on ETIAW on being the Official "First Single" of the new album
ColdplayingfromKansas replied to Loki0012's topic in Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall (Single, EP & video)I don't believe it will be on the album--no release date, no name, no tracklisting, nothing. So why release a single off a nameless album whose release date may drastically change because of some unforseen circumstance. It doesn't add up; I think ETiaW is just a summer promo song for the festivals

Lyrics
Hrmm, that one could work also! "My drunken head's a devil in a lion's den" or "I'm drunken as a beggar in a lion's den" :uhoh:

Coldplay: Greatest downfall in the history of music?
ColdplayingfromKansas replied to Josh42's topic in Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall (Single, EP & video)Actually, I don't think the song is bad (but I don't exactly love it either). :P I'm kinda ambivalent on this one.

High Quality Version?
Actually, Rock im Park and Rock am Ring are at the same festival--just different days and Coldplay played on both. So you're right about there only being one festival :awesome:
