This happened to me as well! I received the t-shirt and vinyl on separate days, and neither came with the pin

I really love the retro spacey feel of that image. It's an excellent foil to the aesthetic of Everyday Life, and it lends credence to the theory of Everyday Life and LP9 being complements/opposites in some way. Everyday Life has been an amazing era so far, and I'm sad to see it coming to an end so soon, but I'm also super excited and intrigued by the LP9 concept.

Wait, what? I'm very out of the loop on this, lol. Why do they hate spheres? To be fair, before this era I would have said it was unlikely they would announce an album via personal letters to fans, but I see your point. Even when working on GS / AHFOD in tandem, the two eras never overlapped with one another. That being said, why leave in the reference if they wound up scrapping that idea? Other than an EP or the next album, I'm not sure what could be "important" enough to be given a two-page spread in the album booklet. Were there ever any references to Zero Theory after it became X&Y?

LP8 Thread - Everyday Life
So, I listened to the album in full last night as soon as I got home. Weirdly, though I liked it, it didn't immediately "hit" me. Some songs I loved immediately (When I Need a Friend had my jaw on the floor and I had the biggest tearful grin on my face while listening to Champion of the World), but others I was just so thrown by because they were so different from what I had come to expect from Coldplay. I went to bed, got up this morning and put the album on again while I caught up on NaNoWriMo. And I found that, all at once, I was loving every bit of it. . . . It's been on repeat since then. I'm on my third listen this morning. All I can say now is "Wow." The guys really pulled off something special with Everyday Life. I'm still very much in the honeymoon phase, so I don't know where it will ultimately rank for me against their other albums, but it's definitely going to be in the top half. Their last few albums I have found to be a little "unbalanced" in that I had a strong preference for either the first or back half (for instance, if I'm going to listen to a Ghost Stories song, 90% of the time it's one of the songs from the back half of the album). Everyday Life is much more like their earlier work in that I'm feeling drawn to both halves. First impression ranking: 7/10 Morning after ranking: 8.5/10 Highlights: Trouble in Town, Daddy, Arabesque, When I Need a Friend, Champion of the World, Everyday Life

When I Need A Friend - Sunrise
You guys I actually gasped when I heard this one. Those harmonies are fucking gorgeous. There are some real stand-outs on this album but When I Need a Friend might be in my top 3.

Daddy - Sunrise
"Daddy, it's my birthday" Held it in until that line :sob:

^ Didn't Guy just have a son? Maybe they hadn't had a name picked out yet when the booklets went to print

Coldplay is making it real difficult to wait until Friday to listen to the full album. Thank goodness for long hours at work? :joy:

I remember a joke version of this thread from back in, like . . . the MX days. It's a little surreal to be close enough to LP9 that the real version is now relevant. Especially considering LP8 isn't even out yet :joy:

Guns - Sunset
^ EL doesn't seem much like a traditional second single though (Disclaimer, I haven't actually listened to it). For one, aren't second singles usually released in-tandem with the full album? So you essentially get both on the same day, and the music video just functions as an extra bit of marketing. Though this era has just been quite unique in general, so who knows what's going to happen *shrugs*

Guns - Sunset
Y'all are not making it easy for me to resist listening to this song :joy: It's a big enough struggle to avoid EL!

LP8 Thread - Everyday Life
Too early for a ranking from me (especially since I'm holding out on listening to EL until the full album drops), but it seems promising so far. I put it above MX/GS/AHFoD, but not sure if it will climb above any of their older albums :D

Gonna try to hold out until the album release to listen to Everyday life, as I don't want to spoil the last track of the album! We shall see how long I last . . . The reviews from you all are interesting, though. Viva-era strings, similar to Fix You, but ends abruptly? And someone on Reddit compared it to AROBTTH (the song). I'm very intrigued . . .

I've been looking around for a live stream and haven't found one. The NBC Universal stream is "free" but apparently there is some subscription needed to view their live shows. But, their website is not very helpful in actually finding this subscription *eyeroll*

Interesting that they would choose their album closer as the second single, if indeed that's what that screenshot means. Coldplay's closers are always among the best songs on their albums, but they've never had that "single" vibe. Plus, if that is the next single I'm going to have to go hide in a hole somewhere, lol. I don't want the very last song to get spoiled!

As someone whose musical education stopped in high school..... that first video is way above my pay grade :joy: BUT the idea of Coldplay collaborating with someone who is so steeped in knowledge of musical theory is very, very interesting. I really have no idea what to expect!

Like others, I'd never heard of Jacob before but after listening to him for three minutes in this interview, I LOVE his voice. Excited to see what he brings to the album!

ROFL Viva will forever have my heart, but Everyday Life is careening at high speed into second place potential EDIT: Am I seeing things, or are those Arabic characters beneath the hot air balloon basket?

y'all I am in absolute effing love that is how you write a climax to a song, my guys. Orphans is everything that was good about AHFOD distilled down into one song. My God, can you imagine how it's going to sound live?? And ARABESQUE!! We all wanted a spiritual successor to Viva.... This is it! GUY. CHRIS'S SINGING. OH MY GOD I have never been so excited for an album after hearing just two songs. someone please stop me i am going to burn these songs into my eardrums

me, skipping through coldplay songs on shuffle: god, Coldplay have released so many songs :joy: EDIT: and there are about 13 billion versions of SJLT lmao DOUBLE EDIT: I got some of the same songs multiple times, yet apparently Spotify decided I'd reached the end of their discography because it started playing Tom Odell instead???

Crazy theory: We're getting a b-side tomorrow with the single as a callback to the "earlier days" where singles would commonly be released with such things Crazier theory: The b-side we're getting tomorrow is an unreleased track from one of the previous eras

^ I was going to point that out as well. If everything in the photos are the same except for their heads, that makes it more likely that it's a fake. And with the general grainy image style they're using, any discrepancies would be less obvious. Then again, if it is legit, the same argument could be made *shrug*

LP8 Thread - Everyday Life
I'm still not wholly convinced by the tracklist. If it's official, why would one of the spots be left blank--even if it supposedly is a sun/moon emoji? It is interesting they would choose to include Arabesque. Of all the old scrapped MX songs, that one was one I've always wanted to hear. I'm slightly more convinced by the album art, if only because the guys have slightly different expressions on the top and bottom. That would be hard to fake. It is weirdly similar to the AHFOD artwork though, and it seems strange that the guys would choose to start repeating themes now, eight albums in. But also, how could either the tracklist or the art be fake if they were uploaded together? You would think they would either both be fake or both be legitimate. This has been a weird era so far... I don't know what to believe :joy: Also... Assuming the countdown on the website is for a single release, what other info do you think we get? A confirmed tracklist? I'm curious to see what the single artwork will be!

Anyone able to watch the Tidal event? Coldplay haven't officially been confirmed, right? We're just assuming they might be the "special guest" or whatever?
