Travis Frontman Fran Healy Going Solo
Remember, Chris said this on Radio 1 ages ago; "Travis were the band that invented Coldplay" Think he also said that Fran was a genius didn't he?

The Plea - like a cross between U2 & The Verve
Big thumbs up from me - saw this on the U2.com forum :) First single "Praise Be" is a free download and it rocks, they've been working with Chris Potter (Verve / Blur / U2) and it shows. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eYnJFAre_nU]Video looks great too[/ame] - although its only 30secs long at the mo :(

The Boxer Rebellion
Great band - and doing it in their own way, without a label.

U2
Yes of course, but it was all a bit like they were trying too hard. I don't know. I can't put my finger on it. Moment Of Surrender is good / great admittedly, as is Magnificent. Oh and I now like the title track No Line On The Horizon. But that's about it.

Music You've Just "Discovered"
The Plea from Ireland. Like U2 crossed with Echo & The Bunnymen / The Verve, read about them on the U2 forum earlier in the week. First tracks sound like stadium fillers, "Praise Be" is a free download too. Love what I've heard so far.

U2
I'd like U2 to return to the Joshua Tree "soul" they had - songs like Running To Stand Still / Red Hill Mining Town - I want them to write songs from their hearts, rather than throw away pop songs to get on Radio One (Elevation / Get On Yer Boots) - think they need to aim for the mass appeal of the Radio Two crowd now, rather than trying to be relevant to under 24s like they've consistently done until NLOTH.. Think Coldplay proved this with Viva La Vida.

Complete Festival Guide for 2011 (+Awards)
How about GuilFest for July.. they've got Razorlight confirmed.. oh, and James Blunt - so maybe not!! Rumours for Reading & Leeds : Muse / The Strokes / Pulp - though I can't see Pulp being a Reading / Leeds headliner!

The Muse Thread - Hate This & I'll Hate You
Love Muse But... Love Muse.. I have seen them a lot - including in the early days, when critics called them the poor mans Radiohead (honestly!) - watched them at Glastonbury last year, and saw them again at a European festival - and to be honest, I thought they looked bored :( The gaps between the songs were enormous, from where I was stood (near the stage) there didn't seem to be any technical reasons for this - at the end of their set at Hove Festival, Norway, most of the crowd thought they'd finished, and starting walking off - only to hear *at least* five minutes later the band start up again. Weird. Then again, it must be really hard for bands such as Coldplay, U2 and Muse to tour the world playing the same songs, in the same way pretty much every single night, have thousands of people to pay to watch you do it, and remain sane!!

The Pierces: Guy is like Jesus
who John Lennon got into a LOT of trouble in the US for comparing The Beatles to Jesus / Religion and taken out of context by the bible belt.. it started a Burn Beatles campaign. Hope this doesn't happen to Coldplay because of these two trying to grab headlines by using Guy's fame!! Here's the Lennon quote in full for those interested that featured in a London Evening Standard. He was at the time reading about religion at the time. "Christianity will go. It will vanish and shrink. I needn't argue with that; I'm right and I will be proved right. We're more popular than Jesus now; I don't know which will go first - rock 'n' roll or Christianity. Jesus was all right but his disciples were thick and ordinary. It's them twisting it that ruins it for me."
