  1. I'm not upset about it. I don't judge what should or shouldn't be on the album until I actually hear the album. Even then, it's not my album--it's Coldplay's album. At least it got a release and we have the song. For those still complaining about ETIAW. You're in the minority. It's a huge radio hit. It's not as deep as some of Coldplay's stuff. So what? Once you get over that it's a lot of fun to listen to. Coldplay had fun recording the song and clearly have fun playing it live. That's good enough for me.
  2. I couldn't help it, but as soon as I heard the title "Don't Let It Break Your Heart" it made me think of the Backstreet Boys song "I'll Never Break Your Heart"! Seriously, just change the lyrics a little: "Don't let it break your heart Don't let it make you cry"... Maybe that's what Coldplay did!:laugh3:
  3. I guarantee it. Every other new song in this era (ETIAW, MM, MTM) has been. You don't only rely on radio in the internet age to promote your music.
  4. I'm waiting until Monday. I'd rather listen to the entire song and make a judgment, than listen to 30 seconds of it. For me, it's like reading the first third of a book before you can read the whole thing. A song, like a book, is a complete work of art and meant to be experienced in its entirety. Who's with me?
  5. Don't Lie In Bed, You Hooligan
  6. If you read the Billboard article, Dave Holmes stated that "Paradise" is the instant grat track when you pre-order the album. So there won't be any b-sides.

I don't think we should read that much into it. I think he was wanting to highlight the first "proper" album single and then two of his favorites, nothing more.
  8. I know I'm stating the obvious, but I can't resist. CB is unreleased because there has been no official release of the track, studio or live. After thinking some more, I believe we might hear something later this week in the form of an album and next single announcement. But, if the album isn't released until Oct 24/25, this week may be too soon. It might be another couple of weeks. The reason I say that is if they announce it this week it'll be more than two months before the release date. Looking at VLVODAAHF, they announced the release date and track listing two months ahead. Four weeks after that VLV was included in pre-orders for the album. So maybe an announcement/track listing in a couple of weeks, then around the third week of Sept they accept pre-orders and the next single is an instant download (coinciding with the next single announcement and availability for airplay). I also think it's a strong possibility that CB will be the next single; I think the studio version might sound quite different from the live version, for those who think it doesn't sound like a strong single live. But I could also see them release an as-yet-unheard song for the next single. So, while an announcement this week is possible, I'm leaning more toward two weeks from now due to past precedent for the band.
  9. I don't think we'll get a formal announcement Monday. What I hope is for teasers throughout the week leading up to an announcement on Friday. With this announcement should also come the announcement of the first single to promote the album's release. Obviously ETIAW was the first single (if it's on the album), but it's not the single that will promote the album's release and help fuel sales. It was released way too early for that. What do you think the single will be to help fuel pre-orders? I'm hoping it's Charlie Brown! I think we got a hint when they filmed both ETIAW and Charlie Brown for Jimmy Kimmel Live! at Summer Krush on August 3rd.
  10. In the US ETIAW is charting like this: Hot 100: #29-week 1 #14-week 2 (first full week) #52-week 3 #61-week 4 This week it is also #5 on Rock Songs, #63 on Radio Songs, #60 on Digital Songs, and #6 on Alternative Songs. It is #46 on the Canadian Hot 100 this week. The chart week for sales runs from Monday to Sunday in the US, so the EP (including MM and MTM) only had one day for this week's charts. It'll be interesting to see how the new songs do on next week's charts after their first full week of availability.
  11. I don't know about the paint and graffiti, but the Oracle responded on June 16 that the video was filmed on June 14/15 at Docklands.
  12. EMI/Coldplay must have changed their minds. Because "digital bundle" means exactly that--all or nothing. Perhaps they worried about the possible negative reaction from fans having to buy ETIAW a second time in order to get the new tracks?
  13. You're welcome. Glad you're enjoying the song.:smug:
  14. Here's a link to Major Minus. You might've overlooked it since the artwork says ETIAW (it's the EP artwork): [ame=http://www.amazon.com/Major-Minus/dp/B0057UWJ48/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=dmusic&qid=1309176641&sr=8-1]Amazon.com: Major Minus: Coldplay: MP3 Downloads[/ame] No, Moving to Mars won't be available on Amazon. It's part of the iTunes exclusive digital bundle--it's an iTunes exclusive track.
  15. Oh, I love ETIAW but, like you, I bought the single, so I just bought MM and MTM. It's definitely nice that we have that option here in the US (even it might be only temporarily).:)
  16. I wonder since it's supposed to be a digital bundle. I don't think we should be able to download the tracks individually.
  17. Do you think the video will be released this week to coincide/promote the ETIAW EP release? I think it's a strong possibility. It's been such an exciting past four weeks or so with the festival dates and all of the new material coming out. I hope it continues this week with the video. Once the video is out, though, I think it might be a slow time (except for the festival dates) while we wait for the album announcement and the single release that will come along with it to promote it.
  18. I'd be more likely to buy that if they hadn't released the ETIAW single in the US the same day as the rest of the world (Friday, June 3). Something else is going on. All the news release says is it'll be available in the US "very soon".
  19. Yeah, it should be available in the US and Japan now, and it's not.:\
  20. No, you're mistaken. They're six hours ahead of us, like you said. So when it's midnight June 26 in the UK, it will be 6 PM June 25 here.
  21. I don't think it means we'll get an additional track. I'm wondering if it's a pricing issue?
  22. I also can't believe it's not in US iTunes yet. I wonder if it's in the Japan store, since it was delayed for that one too? Since it's supposed to be released just after midnight, does that mean I can buy it at just after 6 PM (I'm CDT)? I'm super-pumped that VH1 is doing a 2 hour, full broadcast of Coldplay's Glastonbury performance tonight at 9!
  23. I definitely hear Pink Floyd and Bowie in there. ("Space Oddity", anyone?)
  24. So I can't stop listening to ETIAW! It's already on my Top 25 Most Played playlist on my iPod and in iTunes. After listening to it that much, a couple of things really stand out to me. First, I think it's really rather bold of the boys to release a single that doesn't have a chorus. A chorus is the hook--it's what draws the listener in and makes a song memorable. The closest thing to a chorus in Teardrop is Jonny's guitar solo. Yet ETIAW is already extremely successful. Here in the US it's already become Coldplay's third most successful single. Second, Jonny's repeated riff is what really stands out to me after so many listens and what keeps me coming back. Not the main riff that acts like a chorus. What I'm talking about you can first start to hear at the 1:13 mark (it runs from about 1:13-1:15), and then repeats every few measures for the rest of the song. It's a very simple riff, but I find it entrancing for some reason. Maybe I'm in the black, Maybe I'm on my knees; You can hurt, hurt me bad, But still I raise the flag! :drummer:
