so... no car kids??
I don't think Car Kids is like Famous Old Painters, though. Famous Old Painters never really had much coverage by the band. Car Kids is, I think, the MX era's "Prospekt". Prospekt was a whole theme that went on during the VLV era, what with the reports from the studio and all, and though it never went on the album, it made it onto the EP. Car Kids seems a lot like that, where it's mentioned EVERYWHERE, even on the album art, but didn't make it on the album, and even Oracle confirmed it to be a song they pretty much finished. That's why I think we'll hear it eventually, in some form or another. What I wouldn't give to hear all those other songs they scrapped...

Am I the only person who doesn't have a problem with Coldplay's lyrics?
My thoughts exactly.

Am I the only person who doesn't have a problem with Coldplay's lyrics?
I know I can't be, but sometimes it feels like even in the positive reviews of Coldplay's stuff, there's always criticism of Chris Martin's lyrics. People say they're cliched, simplistic, sappy, all sorts of things. I myself quite like them. They're not the greatest ever, of course, but they fit the songs perfectly, and they're just right for singing along. They've got a simplicity that's kind of charmingly over-the-top, rather than annoyingly cliched. That's the way I feel about them, at least, and I just want to know if anyone agrees.

WORST COLDPLAY ALBUM TO DATE
I went with Parachutes, even though it's still in my top 15-20 albums ever.

What score will Pitchfork give Coldplay?
As a man who listens to nearly every genre of music out there, and therefore has an easily comparable range of taste in music to yourself: Coldplay is still my favorite band, and MX is some of their best work ever. I realize that you're from SoCal, where for the most part half the population listens to indie stuff and the other half listens exclusively to pop, and you can't risk appearing to sympathize with anything even faintly resembling the latter. :P But that just doesn't excuse your insufferable pretentiousness, which seems to be merely an affectation to make you appear "cool". All it actually does is make you unlikable. Now, just go ahead and admit that you listen to MX on repeat every time you're alone, and everything will be fine. ;) As they say, "can't we all just get along?"

The Keeper Thread
Can I claim the lyrics "Tonight the streets are ours" from HLH, and Jonny's first riff/solo from the same?

Will LP6 now be what Mylo Xyloto was initially conceived as - an acoustic record?
It doesn't matter; at this point, whatever they do from now on is pretty much guaranteed to be good, if not absolutely brilliant.

[Article] VV - In Defense Of Coldplay: Understanding And Refuting The Deep, Smoldering Hatred For A
Great article. Good point about Coldplay's utter likable-ness. :P

What Is The Best Coldplay Album ( according to fans)
AROBTTH / MX > VLVODAAHF / X&Y > Parachutes. With about two nanometers between each section. I can't vote. :P

Favorite post on the forum right now.

Rate CHARLIE BROWN studio version
10. A couple minor things I would change, but it's still absolutely one of the most head-bang-iest yet melodic songs ever. I love it. So epic.

Myloooo... Xylotooooo
Definitely "So cold, so cold...".

Paradise Listening Party - 7:50 A.M UK Time (Real time CHATROOM embedded in first post!)
Was all psyched up to listen on the radio, bought it instead. :P Liking it on first listen, feel like it'll be one of those ones that grows on you. Nice, poppy single to get people buying, and the rest of the songs will be awesomely idiosyncratic, like on VLVODAAHF; at least that's my prediction.

Your Favourite New Coldplay Track?
Charlie Brown, Moving to Mars. They've become two of my all-time favorites.
