  1. Sweet, thanks. :D Props to you for keeping up with us!
  2. I don't think Car Kids is like Famous Old Painters, though. Famous Old Painters never really had much coverage by the band. Car Kids is, I think, the MX era's "Prospekt". Prospekt was a whole theme that went on during the VLV era, what with the reports from the studio and all, and though it never went on the album, it made it onto the EP. Car Kids seems a lot like that, where it's mentioned EVERYWHERE, even on the album art, but didn't make it on the album, and even Oracle confirmed it to be a song they pretty much finished. That's why I think we'll hear it eventually, in some form or another. What I wouldn't give to hear all those other songs they scrapped...
  3. I know I can't be, but sometimes it feels like even in the positive reviews of Coldplay's stuff, there's always criticism of Chris Martin's lyrics. People say they're cliched, simplistic, sappy, all sorts of things. I myself quite like them. They're not the greatest ever, of course, but they fit the songs perfectly, and they're just right for singing along. They've got a simplicity that's kind of charmingly over-the-top, rather than annoyingly cliched. That's the way I feel about them, at least, and I just want to know if anyone agrees.
  4. I went with Parachutes, even though it's still in my top 15-20 albums ever.
  5. As a man who listens to nearly every genre of music out there, and therefore has an easily comparable range of taste in music to yourself: Coldplay is still my favorite band, and MX is some of their best work ever. I realize that you're from SoCal, where for the most part half the population listens to indie stuff and the other half listens exclusively to pop, and you can't risk appearing to sympathize with anything even faintly resembling the latter. :P But that just doesn't excuse your insufferable pretentiousness, which seems to be merely an affectation to make you appear "cool". All it actually does is make you unlikable. Now, just go ahead and admit that you listen to MX on repeat every time you're alone, and everything will be fine. ;) As they say, "can't we all just get along?"
  6. Can I claim the lyrics "Tonight the streets are ours" from HLH, and Jonny's first riff/solo from the same?
  7. It doesn't matter; at this point, whatever they do from now on is pretty much guaranteed to be good, if not absolutely brilliant.
  8. Great article. Good point about Coldplay's utter likable-ness. :P
  9. AROBTTH / MX > VLVODAAHF / X&Y > Parachutes. With about two nanometers between each section. I can't vote. :P
  10. Favorite post on the forum right now.
  11. 10. A couple minor things I would change, but it's still absolutely one of the most head-bang-iest yet melodic songs ever. I love it. So epic.
  12. Definitely "So cold, so cold...".
  13. Was all psyched up to listen on the radio, bought it instead. :P Liking it on first listen, feel like it'll be one of those ones that grows on you. Nice, poppy single to get people buying, and the rest of the songs will be awesomely idiosyncratic, like on VLVODAAHF; at least that's my prediction.
  14. Charlie Brown, Moving to Mars. They've become two of my all-time favorites.
  15. It's close. Very very close. Right up there next to "I Ran Away" for me. It was one of those songs where when I first heard it I thought "This is one of the best songs I've ever heard", so I'd say it's very close if not there already.
  16. The distorted noises at the end really say "merge into beginning of first track ala Pink Floyd's The Wall", at least to me. They did something similar with the synths at the beginning of LiT and the end of The Escapist on VLVODAAHF. Odds are it'll remain an EP release, but I think it would work pretty well on the album. Thoughts?
  17. If possible, may I claim "Charlie Brown", "Hurts Like Heaven", Jonny's epic riffs from said songs, Jonny's solo in "Moving To Mars", and Will's "I Ran Away" percussion?
  18. Perhaps "As the girl is spinning gold"?
  19. Exactly. I still enjoy Viva and Yellow a lot, and they're brilliant live, but most of my favorites are B-sides or just the lesser-known album tracks. Charlie Brown I think is a better example than Viva or Teardrop of the band's general style, so it would be good to give it more exposure, but I wouldn't want it too popular, either. You want more people to know, yet you don't want it to be too mainstream. It's a very hipster paradox. :P
  20. I stole the key, And took a car downtown where the lost boys meet; I took a car downtown and took what they offered me To set me free I saw the lights go down at the endin' scene, I saw the lights go down and (they're) standin' in front of me My scarecrow dreams, When they smash my heart into smithereens, I'll be a bright red rose combustin' the concrete; Be a cartoon heart Light a fire, by the smoke And light a fire, flame in my heart We'll run wild, We'll be glowin' in the dark We'll be glowin' in the dark All the boys, all the girls, All the madness in the world All the boys, all the girls, All the madness that occurs All the highs, all the lows As the room is spinnin', oh We'll run wild/they'll run riot (depends on the version), And start glowin' in the dark So we saw all the madness in the world; We'll be glowin' in the dark Madness? This is Coldplay!
  21. I half want Charlie Brown to be a single so more people might be able to experience it's absolute genius, and half want it to remain more of an only-on-the-album, less exposed song. :P
  22. Unbelievable as always, dude. :D
