[24-Sept-2011] Coldplay @ Atlanta's Music Midtown Festival
I actually hope the setlist isn't too different from the festival shows I've seen, especially Glastonbury. Just shove Paradise in there somewhere, and I'll be happy. The problem with seeing Coldplay live now, is they have 'too' many songs that they have to play because of their popularity. You can't not play Fix You, Yellow, The Scientist, Clocks, Viva la Vida, In My Place, among several others; and then you have to play a lot of your new stuff.

[24-Sept-2011] Coldplay @ Atlanta's Music Midtown Festival
It is called the MARTA, and I would agree with this assessment. There are varying opinions on the safety of the MARTA but I've ridden on it plenty, and have never had any issues with it.

Anniversary gift to my wife
My wife and I are huge CP fans, and we are coming on our 5th anniversary, so I thought I would write some vows by putting together lyrics from the band we share the most together. What do you think? My Vow to You You don’t know how lovely you are, look at the stars, look how they shine for you Your skin and bones, turn into something beautiful The spotlight shines upon you, yeah I saw sparks, and how could anybody, deny you? For you I’ve waited all these years, for you I’d wait till kingdom comes So I waited for you, what wouldn’t I do? You’re the one that I wanted to find, you’re the target that I’m aiming at I had to find you, tell you I need you, I set you apart, I wanna live life, and be good to you Honey you are the sea upon which I float, Honey you are a rock, upon which I stand And Honey you should know, it’s you that I hold on to, I could never go on without you So you lost your trust, and you never should have, your heavy heart, is made of stone You don’t have to be alone, you don’t have to be on your own Tell me your secrets, and ask me your questions Don’t you shiver, lights will guide you home, and ignite your bones, and I will try to fix you I promise you I will learn from my mistakes, I promise you this, I’ll always look out for you And I never meant to cause you trouble, I never meant to do you wrong If I ever caused you trouble, oh no, I never meant to do you harm On and on, from the moment I wake, ‘til the moment I sleep, I’ll be doing my best I’ll be by your side; just you try and stop me And when all you want is friends, I’ll see you soon I’m not gonna take it back, I’m not gonna say I don’t mean that, for you I’d bleed myself dry On a platform, I’m gonna stand and say, that I’m nothing on my own My song is love, my heart is yours, I’m covered in you, and I’m on fire for you, clearly Questions of science, science and progress, do not speak as loud as my heart Tell me you love me, come back and haunt me, you’re the one I love, And you belong with me, not swallowed in the sea Through the chaos as it swirls, it’s us against the world

LP5 Is Currently 85 Minutes Long (Interview with Will and Chris after Glastonbury)
I was wondering if someone would post that 60 Minutes interview, because I knew I remembered seeing that they had a 'rule' about album length, and I couldn't quite remember how long they said it couldn't be, but I knew 85 was more than what they had said in that interview. But I don't care, I don't really understand the reasoning behind that, but if it is 8, 80, or 800 minutes, I'm buying it.

Your favourite song out of Coldplay's Glastonbury 2011 performance? :Poll Added:
Maybe it is weird, but one of the greatest things about Coldplay Live is how authentic Chris is considering they are world famous rock stars; so for me, Us Against the World was my favorite. Even though they messed it up, itt was charming and genuine, and I love that about the band.

Two more singles before LP5 drops?
I'm not real familiar with the studio version of this song, but my wife and I were watching her on SNL recently, and as soon as we heard the first few bars of this live performance it sounded an awful lot like Clocks. I'm referring to the first video here: http://justjared.buzznet.com/2011/05/22/lady-gaga-snl-performances/ The Madonna and Ace of Base rips are less subtle than this one; but I feel it is still pretty obvious.

How can you be accused of plagiarizing a song, that is based off the same song you've already credited? The plagiarism accusations amaze me. Coldplay has a melody that somewhat sounds like some obscure guitarist's and people flip out, then they credit a song and people still flip out; all the while Lady GaGa has blatantly ripped off Coldplay, Madonna and Ace of Base and barely anyone seems to care.

The 'negative' ETIAW discussion
I don't necessarily agree with the moniker of a summer song, but many things have seasonal relevance attached to them; food, music, plays, musicals, etc. Most people aren't going to get excited for a big, hot bowl of new england clam chowder on a hot summer day, and you're not going to go see a live performance of The Nutcracker in June. If you don't like the song, no big deal, but many art forms have seasonal relevance attached to them. I also think that many who are criticizing need to watch the film it was inspired by, the more I think about it conflated with Biutiful, the more I like the song.

Hello fellow Coldpayers
My name is Matt, and I am married, from Jacksonville FL. My wife and I are both avid Coldplay fans. We love other performers too, Linkin Park, Counting Crows, John Mayer, Imogen Heap, Adele among others. But Coldplay has a special place in our hearts. We've seen them live three times. The first time was in Atlanta back in 2008, and we we're absolutely blown away; neither of us realized that a concert could be that amazing. We've seen Jewel, 3 Doors Down, Imogen Heap, Linkin Park, Counting Crows, various Jazz musicians live, but the combination of all those concerts still couldn't hold a candle to Coldplay. We also saw them twice in London back in 2009. We were only going to see them once, but as all great trips do, we improvised and decided to get some floor tickets for the Friday night show, and that had to be two of the greatest hours of our lives. If you haven't seen them live, you just haven't truly experienced them. Having seen so many live acts, Coldplay truly immerses each audience member in their music, like the show is only for them. It would have been four times, but the Tampa concert in 2009 was cancelled unfortunately. As you'll see in my posts, I am definitely an overly positive Coldplay fan, I really can find no fault in their music; I find meaning and relevance from every lyric and note, and I've never heard a Coldplay song I didn't like. If I had to pick my favorite Coldplay song, I might go with Trouble. There's just something about Chris's soft voice at the piano that is magical to me (I'm sure I'm not the only one). As for my username, I chose this because I realized recently that Fix You truly does fix me. Specifically the live version from the LeftRightLeftRight CD. When I've had a rough day, or I'm going through something stressful, that song just makes me right. So one day that version may overtake Trouble, but probably not until I stop doing and saying stupid things that get me into Trouble. As for non-Coldplay related things about me, I'm an IT guy, love sports, mainly baseball and football. If there is one thing I am more avid about than Coldplay, it is Florida State University Athletics, you name it, I know it about them. My other sports teams are the Atlanta Braves and Green Bay Packers (been one since the early '90's, no bandwagon fan here). Well that is me, I'm also a bit long-winded, but I look forward to sharing this and hopefully several more LP's with you in the future.

The 'negative' ETIAW discussion
From what I understand this song was inspired by watching the movie Biutiful, which I have seen. My wife says that the song being inspired by that movie makes a lot of sense to her, but I don't see it yet. I'm not super crazy about ETIAW, but I like it; and I like it more than I remember liking Violet Hill on first listen (not that I didn't like that either). I'm curious though, for those who don't like ETIAW, have you seen Biutiful? If the song was truly inspired by the movie and a song from the soundtrack, maybe seeing the movie could give you a frame of reference that may make you appreciate or like the song more?

Great / epic song :D!?
It's always been hard for me to just immediately love or like a song on first listen; it is hard to pick up all the lyrics (especially with a live version), along with absorbing the music, it just takes a few listens to truly understand or know a song. I say that to say this. This song is so amazing that on first listen it actually brought a few tears to my eyes much like other songs do on occasion that I needed a dozen or so listens before they truly affected me like this one did immediately. I suppose every one has a song with lyrics that are more relevant to them than others, but for me and my wife, these lyrics couldn't be more relevant and touching. There is probably no way I could make my own personal Top 10 Coldplay songs, but if I did, I'd have trouble leaving this one out of it.
