[8-Aug-2012] Coldplay @ United Center, Chicago, IL, USA
Wow, I'm so glad I bought the Wednesday ticket! My seats were great, OMG AMSTERDAM, and easily the best show I may ever see. The people nearby seemed to not be as into it but I still had a great time even though I went alone. next time I'm totally taking my son!

I just saw the set list from one of the Canadian shows and I'm getting super excited! I wish I could take enough time to go to Lolla as well, but with the Fall semester coming up (and doing a transition from Blackboard to D2L) things will be hectic as every professor will wait until the exact last minute.

I'm in 109. Looked like quite an odd spot but maybe a good angle for viewing.

I've never seen a show at this venue, is it better to drive or use public transport?

Coldplay.com Lyrics Have Been Corrected
I thought that at first too, but I believe the actual words are "Aim in" not "Amen." Bad enunciation, imo

Like I said in another thread, best I've found in 106. I'm not sure if I'll jump on it or wait til next week. We should totally organize a meet up though! edit: I also really hate this way of getting randomly assigned a section and seat row. I wish you could just browse what is available. Maybe even talk to a ticket agent like in the olden days.

2012 North America Tour announced!
I'm buying for the Chicago show as well. Best I saw was section 106 (I believe) and it seems dead center but I'm not really sure which set up they will be using. I guess I have a couple of days to decide whether I want to buy in that section or take my chances for buying next Monday.

A Rational look at Coldplay from a hater.
I sort of feel the way OP does about various musical acts and I do try to listen to them and give them a chance. Often it's a combination of their music and their persona. A lot of pop stars try to give off a certain type of personality when promoting their record and it kind of bothers me. I can see people being put off by CM and the boys. But honestly, they want talk about their music and not the other more personal stuff, and I appreciate that. A lot of people just want to gossip about things that don't matter just to seem more compelling and stay relevant.

Does that give it away too much :P

A Rational look at Coldplay from a hater.
I think it's much more popular to "hate" very popular mainstream bands in certain circles. I have tried to get into certain bands that are considered cool (e.g., Arcade Fire, Kings of Leon, etc) and I just can't figure out why people like them. To each his own. I don't go running around saying Coldplay>all. In fact, I tend to be one to tout 90s alternative far more than anything else. We tend to exist on a spectrum for what we like, tolerate, enjoy. I think if more people embraced that they wouldn't be so worried about the stigma it creates when they like or dislike a certain band, especially a very well-known one.

Do you like Princess of China?
I had mega-low expectations of this. I'm pleasantly surprised it's turned out so well. I'm not sure what's with all the RiRi hate. She's a strong singer, who has a good following and can do more than one style of music. People seem to have a rather hipster attitude about things. I will say that I dislike all the extras production I've heard on many of the songs so far. Major Minus is a great song, except for the artificial sound of Chris and instruments. I feel like it goes with the theme of graffiti so it may not last. Overall, I'm expecting to be pretty pleased with the album as a whole. It's no Rush of Blood to the Head but that's ok. I find musical adaptation rather interesting.

LP5 Is Currently 85 Minutes Long (Interview with Will and Chris after Glastonbury)
Before we got sidetracked by Trolly Mctroll someone mentioned wanting to see the 60 minutes interview. I'm certain there's a more appropriate place but since it was mentioned in this thread I went to find it. Also, it could be US only. I'll search for a full version on youtube now. Here it is [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bFvyTDX3OoM]Youtube [/ame]

Florence + The Machine
Florence on NPR NPR posted a video of a concert Florence and the Machine performed last year (I think). It might be US only, I'm not sure but here it is: http://www.npr.org/2011/06/24/137340851/first-watch-florence-the-machine-in-concert?sc=tw&cc=share
