  1. I still think PoC is a 'failed' pop single. Sure it's got Rihanna and got a good chunk of buzz, but it was completely overshadowed by Paradise, heck it's not even played anymore since Mylo Tour (when ETIAW and Charlie Brown still sometimes get spots on the setlists). It's like it's not regarded as a classic and a 'must-play' by them.

Noel's influence is really showing up! Jonny's solo is really, really Oasis-like, which is great!
  3. Electronic and loops? Sounds like The Escapist
  4. Remember that Paradise MV came out much later after the song was released (around a month), so the gap quite reasonable to me, at least for Coldplay
  5. I think that's pretty selfish. Do we, new Coldplay fans, don't deserve their old songs? Are we blindly categorized as 'not true Coldplay fans' just because we're attracted to their new works? We're not dumb. I'm a new Coldplay fan since MX but even I find that their old works are a masterpiece. Just because we're new doesn't mean we're dumb and don't understand the older, more brilliant songs. To put it simple, 'Newplayers' or 'Oldplayers' don't really matter to me, since either one can freely appreciate Coldplay's new/old works. And please share us new fans their other brilliant works, regardless of our tastes, even just for proving that their old works are superior :)
  6. I'm looking forward to jazz, soul, and punk Coldplay! :D
  7. I think the consensus that stays with them is not the best rock band in the world, it's the biggest rock band in the world right now. Commercially successful albums, huge name recognition, high-charting songs, they're definitely one of the biggest. And they still have rock elements till now. The guitar riffs and the real drums aren't going away. But me too won't compare them to Muse or Arctic Monkeys rock for now, more like OneRepublic or The Script pop-rock, Rock that appeals to the masses in this era.
  8. I'm honestly afraid that this release will be a streak breaker. Adele will be a really tough one to overtake the #1 Album chart. She had 11 consecutive number ones last time. Godspeed, Coldplay.
  9. Well Amazing Day is different (hearing from the live version anyway), so that's a step towards diversity. Then the rumored Noel Gallagher collaboration one, I don't think his thing will be 80s-ish (at least not funky)
  10. yeah, reading them while actually listening to the song is a conflicting experience. Well, to each their own I guess.
  11. Hi, I rarely (well, almost never) post here, but the discussion about this song and Coldplay's future musical direction really intrigues me. To be honest, I love this song, maybe not a fresh music in general, but a fresh Coldplay music. I admit I like many pop songs and I think there's nothing wrong listening to and liking them. I can't say that Coldplay's direction to shift to a more 'poppy' (what's with the 'poppy' moniker btw) feel in their music is right or not, but if this direction makes them happy, then I'm happy for them too (it's a different case if they are forced to shift directions by external sources). They said they had so much fun making this album, and I respect that. I do miss their old style, and I'm optimistic that maybe sometime in the future they're done with experimenting and go back to their roots (I think U2 followed a similar pattern). For now, I'll be supporting them as much as I could and be happy for them :)
  12. Can I join in? Not hating it per se, but it's like "oh it's playing this? I'll just skip it" - High Speed. The song is quite bland IMO - Another's Arms. The song is kinda annoying to me, especially the 'toooomp' part - A Whisper. The guitar is repetitive in an annoying way On the contrary, I love ASFOS. Sure it's not really a Coldplay song, but I like the mish mash of the underlying instruments that are overshadowed by the EDM sounds. Makes me crave for a stripped down version without the EDM thingies.
  13. A rush of blood to the head you're stuck in
  14. Until this time, MX era just have MTM (Major Minus not counted), and there's no itunes bonus track, so it's very likely they'll have longer EP... or B-sides album everyone? Mylo Xyloto's younger brother everyone? :wink3: Counting there are 6-8 Viva era's non-LP songs (plus 3-4 mix of LP songs) it's quite possible to make a minor LP..
  15. Well I think they have tons of new materials, but maybe the songs didn't satisfy them they're quite hesitate to release/record it.. Well anything can happen..
  16. Why do so many people hate coldplay I wonder? It's logical if people hate pop songs (I don't really like them either cause I don't like pointless repetitive patterns and unclear instruments which many of pop songs have), but why coldplay? Hating coldplay is like hating oasis or u2.. Btw I' m new to posting here, nice to meet you all! :)
