Chris' Voice
Yeah, he's the voice to fall asleep to... You'll never tire of it :D

Have Coldplay lost it?
no way. SOS definitely does not represent the best of Coldplay... I'm sure they have other better songs that would be suitable as X&Y's opening singles

Your FIRST COLDPLAY moment...ever!!!!
Yada. But if I could choose, I wouldn't have that as my first Coldplay moment. The one that really got me was Trouble on MTV... There he was, this skinny fella tied to a chair, singing his heart out "Oh no, I seeee...", voice broken, getting the shit completely beaten out of him :D Now that's classic Coldplay

Have Coldplay lost it?
Alright, alright... Looks like this thread has stirred up quite a bit of controversy :argue: Of course, what'd I expect? It is a Coldplay fansite after all... :P Just heard Talk... The leaked version of course! All I wanna say is... I take ALL that I said before (about CP losing it) back. Clearly they have not lost it... Unfortunately poor fecking souls like me wouldn't be able to tell coz it took me like three friggin' months after the fact before I managed to get Talk (thanks Steve :D)... Guess that makes me a loser :( :smash: Yes, I agree now, fully, with what almost everyone's said... this album is gonna be f*cking mega and we'll all be blown away. I'd buy any album that had 2 songs as great as Talk (and this ain't even the finished released version yet :) ) But I still stand by what I've said about SOS- Will Coldplay stop giving me heart-attacks? :dead: I was scared shitless by SOS (good song as it is - are they trying to punish us for circulating Talk before the album's release?) :o Anyone who's not convinced yet that Coldplay have arrived (in all manner of great bands e.g. U2), I promise you Talk will totally change your mind... If you need Talk PM me and I'll e-mail it to you... Coldplay rule :guitarist:

Chris' Voice
Nope, not at all... totally think his voice improvement is a good thing. :pleased: It's just that: 1. Really did like the little quirks in his voice (they're ironed out now)... Made him sound more everyman (like us!) 2. IMO I think the band need to make that voice a main focus in their music again.. not just another line in their songs. Btw, Talk (the leaked one) is a good example of what I'm referring to :D

Chris' Voice
Me too! Very afraid... :worried: It seems likely they are headed that way since the band goes for equality between its members Im not against that, actually. I just am, like you, afraid of the SOS effect. That the tracks might be too bland and predictable when produced like SOS. On the other hand Im confident that the songs are good! Kind of a contradiction, but uhm lets be positive shall we? :P We'll hear! :) Yes yes... I'm with you, all the way. Maybe it's the producing rather than the band per se Till X&Y then... Coldplay rule! :smash:

Best of the best
Amsterdam But I agree with Laura, AROBTTH is arguably the best song of the album :dozey:

Have Coldplay lost it?
- So, who waited for SoS studio and what did you think?
i waite to hear the studio version, and im hoping it will grow on me. Add me to the list... though I think now (after, oh maybe about 25 listens?) I have to reluctantly agree with the general concensus - it's a MEGA song! Though I still stick to my comment that it has some 'fatal' flaws, it's brilliance in other parts just cannot be denied. :D- Stop Hating on SOS and just Appreciate it!
Yes, I heard it... A slight change in the quality of his voice- exactly what this song needs more of...- Chris' Voice
It's great that Chris' singing is improving... But it does make his singing sound like just another line in the overall song structure (albeit a perfect-sounding one), and it gets lost instead of being the centrepiece it has always been in CP songs There! I think I finally pinpointed my issue with SOS :o Now I can go back to enjoying the song in peace... :D- Have Coldplay lost it?
i don't agree with you AT ALL. in clocks, there was so much going on, and chris was singing so hard, i beleived and fealt every word he sang, and inother robtth songs, like scientist, amsterdam, blah blah blah. i just think you are dwelling on the fact that they haven't wrote another yellow, which i think does not matter a bit. they've done that, now look at all the gorgeous songs they have done. I don't much like Yellow by the way, never did :P Yellow is exactly the type of song I was referring to at the beginning of the thread (possibly my least fav from Parachutes)... The same goes for Politik (controversial again, I know - it's just how I feel about the song  ), A Whisper, and less so for some other songs from AROBTTH. Brilliant musically, but somehow lacking soul, although I have to concede that if you listen closely enough, it eventually does get to you. Anyone notice how AROBTTH has less emotionally accessible songs (i.e. the album has less immediate impact) than earlier stuff??? This thread actually isn't meant to be a judgement on X&Y... I was just commenting on a general observation that of late, they seem to be putting too much emphasis on production and maybe, just maybe losing sight of what made them successful the way they are now :( ... I mean I don't think anyone can dispute that the thing that made CP stand heads and shoulders above many other bands and get taken-noticed of was the emotional quality of their music (that their music skills is of high standard as well doesn't need mentioning, I consider it a prerequisite for any band worth my time :D ) Sure, I can accept they'll change, but I wonder whether they are heading in the right direction in terms of their strenths? Maybe they are still experimenting and expanding their skills and this may yet be a passing phase... And somehow one day they will manage to combine everything into the most awesomest, amazing album eva! *drumroll* :drummer: I guess I'll have to keep the faith like any good fan (seeing they do put in 100% and maybe more in all their work), and follow them wherever they take me. And of course it can't be denied that the quality of their playing is impeccable... all their tones and textures are just perfect (thank goodness they still believe in that :smug: )! And I guess there is hope yet :P... Jon & Will seem to be taking over more emotional burden in the songs from Chris (who seems to have plateaued in this department *sniff* *sniff* --> burn-out perhaps? :o ), so there is still loads to look forward from the band! Can't wait for the whole album to come out :)- Have Coldplay lost it?
^ Contrioversial title I know - it really is a continuation of a post I put up on another thread - but what I really meant to ask is... Does anyone think that Coldplay seem to be putting less and less heart into their music? I agree that their musicianship has improved, by leaps and bounds at that :D but it seems to have come at a cost - they just seem to be reaching for technical brilliance and in the process have had to let go of what made them so special (at least in my eyes) in the first place - that unique earnestness - best crystalised by Chris singing his heart out :smug: He still does sing his heart out, but somehow all that emotion gets smothered out by all the other things going on in their more recent songs. It used to be that their music complemented his singing, but lately they seem to compete instead, which is such a shame :(- What Do You Think Of Speed Of Sound?
I truly hope that's not the case :( Actually my main issue with the song (and the newer singles in general) is that they seem to have lost that heartfelt earnestness of their earlier music, a quality that IMHO is central to who and what Coldplay are (or at least what I like most about the band)... I would argue that this is their defining quality - that which makes them who they are - since Coldplay are more than capable of changing their musical style given the calibre the guys all round...- Stop Hating on SOS and just Appreciate it!
- How amazing is Speed of Sound!
- Stop Hating on SOS and just Appreciate it!
Indeed, we may critique the song, but that doesn't mean we don't appreciate it, or that we won't enjoy... Just voicing some observations that's all ;)- What Do You Think Of Speed Of Sound?
I hear ya... :D Their singles tend to go stale after a while *sigh* To be truthful, I was quite disappointed initially when I heard SOS the first time on the Coldplayer... Too much like Clocks & U2! And the song's so linear... & constructed. Too much hammering in the background too :( But then I heard the bass line... Woah, what a rush! It must be the most lively CP bass line ever... Woohoo! Guy must have had such a great time (I wonder though what he gave up to be given such liberty? His soul perhaps :sneaky: ) Way to go Guy! And the first solo for Will... finally. :guitarist: :drummer: Everyone seems to have improved... Except Chris Martin... Which is saying a lot :stunned: It's great - in the sense that you get to compare how everyone else sounds better, whereas Chris is his same old familiar self. Maybe that's the purpose of this single - to show how much they've improved since the last time round? :)- How you feel today?
Shite... I don't know why. Wish I could cheer up - What does your 'username' mean?
Mine's no big mystery... I so love Coldplay, thought that Parachutes was a great album/song, which totally describes how I'd like to be, and that Gentle's a great adjective for it. So there you have it... Gentleparachute  And hey look... I'm a parachutist now, exactly where I belong :D- Coldplay Album's Colour-Coded Message
It's used for carding in (recording) the time employees arrive from and leave from work, though I'm not too sure how often it's still used nowadays - What are you reading right now?
Life of Pi - Yann Martel I know... It's soo over by now, soo critics darling, soo cliche a choice... But it's also emotionally heart-wrenching, amazing and true... In short it's soo good... I know  - So, who waited for SoS studio and what did you think?
